The Democratic race continues, and comedian Richard Lewis is “bitter” about it, he tells MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann.

In a wide ranging on Countdown Thursday night, Lewis tells the host the interminable battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton is making Republican nominee John McCain “like the Boston Celtics,” letting him into the playoffs early with a quick lead. The most frustrating thing he says is the minutiae the Democrats are obsessing over lately.

“Lets take Obama,” Lewis says. “If he tries to be above the fray, he’s elitist. If he tries to fight, now he’s like a regular politician. The guy’s in a no win situation that way.”

Lewis also lamented the so-called YouTube era in which clips and quotes can be twisted and taken out of context to gin up false, distracting issues.

“They’re not talking about the economy, they’re just picking on things,” he said. “They’re fighting each other; they’re not fighting for us. And it’s really bugging the hell out of me.”
