The Orange County Register reported:

“About two dozen people stood outside a gated community here for nearly 90 minutes Wednesday afternoon to protest Vice President Dick Cheney’s visit at a private fundraiser for Republican Congressman Ken Calvert.”

“And even as one yelled ‘war criminal’ and another ‘thanks for coming to our show,’ the vice president waved back at them from behind darkened windows of a black SUV, passing the demonstrators in a motorcade in a few seconds en route to an evening reception inside.”

“The group of largely Democrats with grievances against the Bush administration, ranging from its support of offshore oil drilling to the prolonged war in Iraq, carried handmade signs targeting both Cheney and Calvert, including ‘Don’t let Cheney wage war on our beaches’ to ‘No toll road, no drilling, no Calvert.’”

“The protest was peaceful and without incident.”
