The Des Moines Register reported:

“A Nevada man remains in critical condition at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines two days after a Nevada police officer allegedly struck him with his vehicle.”

“According to a report from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Eric Peterson was moving aggressively toward a police car on Friday and trying to enter it. He was running after the police car when he was struck by another police car, driven by Kailen Fitzgerald, an officer with the Nevada Police Department.

“Peterson’s family issued a statement today denying the officers’ version of the events. They say Peterson is mentally ill and was not threatening the officers.”

“Fitzgerald and the other officer involved, Adam Fischel, have been placed on paid administrative leave pending a DCI investigation.”
