Fox spreads misinformation on felon’s voting rights
Fox’s Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade warned that there were thousands of felons in Florida that are illegally registered to vote. The Fox hosts failed to inform their viewer that it is legal for most felons to vote in Florida.
Doocy said, “The way the law states once you are convicted of a felony in some cases in many states you cannot vote. [Florida] is one of them.”
In April 2007, Florida approved new procedures that make it legal for 80% of felons to regain their right to vote.
