KVBC News 3 reported:

“At Nellis Air Force Base, military officials had some explaining to do Wednesday afternoon. News 3′s Anita Roman reports that a dummy bomb fell from one of their jets and hit a truck below.”

“‘Shortly after 11:30am Wednesday morning, Nellis security forces and Las Vegas Metro Police responded to a report of an object falling from the sky,’ says Brig. General Russell Handy, 57th Wing Commander.”

“However, they still don’t know why the bomb dummy device, or BDU, fell off of a plane and landed on a pick-up truck that was traveling down Las Vegas Boulevard and Beasley Avenue. ”

“The BDU-33 is a 25 pound device regularly used to simulate the ballistics of real air-to-ground weapons. This training device does not carry explosives, but it does carry a small smoke charge used to mark its impact point.”
