NBC 5/KXAS-TV reported:

“The Dallas Police Department showed the dashcam video captured from the police cruiser that struck and killed 10-year-old Cole Berardi on Oct. 17.”

“The boy was crossing Belt Line Road in southeast Dallas when he was struck by the Senior Cpl. Michael Vaughn’s patrol car.”

“Investigators said Vaughn was going 72 mph, more than 30 mph faster than the speed limit. Vaughn also did not have any emergency lights or sirens.”

“Vaughn, a five-year veteran of the department, is currently on restricted duty while the incident is reviewed.”

“Police officials have yet to decide what, if any, punishment Vaughan will face in the incident. Criminal charges are possible.”
