I was 16 when Kurt Cobain offed himself. My initial reaction was smiling that I knew first. Then despair for his pain. Then I cried a lot. And I listened to a lot of Nirvana. To this day, I still think their best song is “Drain You”, and I’m glad Rock Band picked it up. It’s the breakdown in the song that’s brilliant.

Looks like Pat Smear from the Germs was already playing with them. That song hits the sweet spot during the jam.

I’m ambivalent about the Smashing Pumpkins. Terrible live band, but studio geniuses. Good melodies, terrible lyrics. But one song always did it for me.

It’s so earnest and true. I wish all their songs were this song.

What 90s hits do it for you? Do you miss that era or are you glad that it’s over?
