ITN reported:

“British charity The Brooke has made the film footage public to raise awareness of the plight of working donkeys in Ethiopia at a time when they appear in nativity scenes around the world.”

“The beasts of burden are often left dehydrated, exhausted and ill after being weighed down with enormous loads.”

“Pippa Rodgers from The Brooke said: ‘They have been walking for up to six hours in the blazing heat. They are dehydrated, they are hungry.’”

“‘They haven’t eaten. They haven’t drunk and some of them simply collapse from exhaustion.’”

This video is from ITN, broadcast Dec. 30, 2008.
