Gov. Rod Blagojevich made a statement to the press about being impeached by the Illinois state House earlier today. “The houses action today was not a surprise. It was a foregone conclusion,” explained Blagojevich. The governor said that he was sure he would be vindicated.

Blagojevich ended the press conference by citing a the poem Ulysses by Lord Tennyson Alfred:

We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
