Pastor David Eric Jones told CNN’s Kiran Chetry that conservatives use more pornography because of a lack of sex business in conservative states. “Conservative states tend to be more rural and they will have less sexually oriented business and there is a social stigma would prevent people from going out in public to look for pornography,” said Jones.

A recent nationwide study of credit card receipts show that conservative states consume more pornography that other states.

Pastor Jones told Chetry that conservatives appear hypocritical when they use pornagrahy. “As conservatives, we feel very strongly about this and because of the social stigma and our values, we try to hide it and instead of facing it with ourselves or within our churches or our homes. We tend to try to fight it with being more aggressive and sometimes that comes out as hypocrisy.”

Pastor David Eric Jones is pastor at First Baptist Church in Jayton, Texas. He is a former pornography addict.
