CNN’s Chris Lawrence reported that the military is limiting reenlistments during tough economic times. “More sailors want to stay in the Navy than ever before at the same time Congress is cutting its numbers. It means tough a new re-enlistment policy that offer advancement to some and end the careers of thousands of others,” reported Lawrence.

“When they told me I couldn’t re-enlist, it was like a kick in the face,” Airman Amanda Siren told Lawrence. Siren said that her family wanted her to stay in the Navy “so I don’t get laid off as a civilian but the Navy is laying me off as well.”
