Some evangelical Christians believe that they are losing the moral and political battles that have defined their movement for years. Rev. James Dobson told Focus on the Family that evangelicals were victorious in the 80′s but times are changing. “We are right now in the most discouraging period of that long conflict. Humanly speaking, we can say that we have lost all those battles,” he said.

Rev. Mel White believes that fundamentalist Churches have essentially lost their culture war. “A lot of Christians are simply bailing out of fundamentalist churches because they realize that they were wrong about gay people. They were wrong about the rights of women, and they were wrong about stem cell research,” said White.
