I was going to pick “Boo Hoo Fucking Hoo” by the Yuppie Pricks for today’s Genius pick, to honor the “you made FUN of US” whining we’ve had to tolerate from self-described libertarians this week, but alas, there’s no You Tube video for it. But there is for Devo’s “Through Being Cool”.

DEVO – Through Being Cool

It was a song they wrote in horrified response to the election of Ronald Reagan, and really it’s just an angry cry against the idiots who voted for Reagan, disguised under the downright cheerful melody and arrangement. Because the possibility of Devo or their fans running around actually beating some spuds and showing evil spuds what’s what is low. But you can mock.

Leave yours in comments!

1) “Strobe Light”—B-52s
2) “One Step Ahead”—The Split Enz
3) “House Of Fun”—Madness
4) “Save It For Later”—The English Beat
5) “Elvis Is Everywhere”—Mojo Nixon
6) “Alex Chilton”—The Replacements
7) “Senses Working Overtime”—XTC
8) “Slippery People”—The Talking Heads
9) “Hot Hot Hot”—The Cure
10) “I Wished I Looked a Little Better”—Sparks

More videos under the fold. This is actually in the Discoballmouseatarian hymnal:

Did Madness ever have a big comeback? Because they really deserve it.

The Cure, being especially danceable, and they are usually pretty danceable:

Lots of 80s-style rocking out to do. Enjoy!
