Henry Louis “Skip” Gates Jr. told The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd that he didn’t talk about Sergeant Crowley’s mother. “Does it sound logical that I would talk about the mother of a big white guy with a gun?” Gates asked.

ABC’s “resident legal expert” Chris Cuomo said that Gates’ actions didn’t rise to the level of disorderly conduct but wasn’t surprised he was arrested.
