No joke: Karzai threatens to join the Taliban

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has slammed Western backers for the second time in a week, accusing the United States of interference, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.

In a private meeting with up to 70 Afghan lawmakers Saturday, Karzai also warned that the Taliban insurgency could become a legitimate resistance movement if foreign meddling in Afghan affairs continues, the Journal said, citing participants in the talks.

During the talks, Karzai, whose government is supported by billions of dollars of Western aid and 126,000 foreign troops fighting the Taliban, said he would be compelled to join the insurgency himself if the parliament does not back his bid to take over Afghanistan’s electoral watchdog.

His comments came less than a day after Karzai sought to defuse tensions over his earlier anti-foreigner outburst by assuring US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton he was committed to working with the United States.

Kabul and Washington said they were putting behind them the incident which saw Karzai publicly claim last week that foreigners orchestrated election fraud.

The latest remarks were sure to further erode an already fragile relationship. During a brief, unannounced visit to Kabul on Monday, Obama urged Karzai to rid his government of its pervasive corruption.

Karzai spent a large part of two and a half hours criticizing lawmakers for rejecting his efforts to wrestle control of the country’s Electoral Complaints Commission from the United Nations, five of the legislators who gathered at the presidential palace told the Journal.

Western officials were said to be seeking the installation of a “puppet government” in Afghanistan, the lawmakers said.

“He said that the only reason that the Taliban and other insurgent groups are fighting the Afghan government is that they see foreigners having the final say in everything,” one lawmaker told the newspaper.

The lawmakers quoted Karzai as saying the Taliban’s “revolt will change to resistance” if the United States and its allies keep dictating how his government should run.

Seriously, WE ARE DONE! This is ridiculous. Honestly, look at the news and tell me it’s getting better; that we’re going to somehow pull out of this. Americans are ultimately convinced that their country always comes back, and always has some innovation spring up to save the day and the economy. But what has been spent by our gout-riddled, caviar-eating, private-jet-flying, 5-star-hotel-staying, globe-trotting, lying-ass banker-minion-politician scum is already spent. For real, a handful of banker-globalists own and run the central banks, and we are nothing to them. I feel numb, I can’t even become outraged anymore. Geithner is no different. By the fact that he is in the spotlight, you know that he is not even a top dog. He’s following orders, just like Barry O. What is allocated to be spent over the next few years will in all likelihood bankrupt this country. Unless, by the good grace of sheer omnipresent luck, we explode our economy again with new green technology (not moving fast enough anyway), the health care ponzi scheme, or an invention as banging as the internet, we will FAIL!! Hope, but don’t hold your breath.

And the supreme court is getting ready to rule that corporations like banks can spend even more money corrupting our government. The tea baggers are all pissy about “socialism” when in fact Corporate America already runs the government. Their wet brains can’t connect any dots, especially the “It’s not just Obama’s fault” dot. They can’t accept the turds they have been voting for the last 20 years have sold them down the river, and took their houses and jobs to boot. The only thing that makes any sense is the fact that I believe the banksters, and Wall Street scum would put out a contract on anyone that even breathed on their 200 billion dollar bonus packages, made from raping and pillaging America’s citizens “legally” since raping and pillaging is legal in this dying country. Remember, 46,000 Americans die every year to support for profit health care. How many more die from subsidized petroleum, and coal? Tens or hundreds of thousands yearly from fossil fuel pollution. When will it end? When you and I decide to do something about it. Feel helpless? So did Cindy Sheehan, and look what she stared….. It only takes a few…..

I don’t suppose Bill Moyers mentions the Federal Reserve in any of that, does he now?

If you want the truth about banking you can read:

    http://mises.org/Books/mysteryofbanking.pdf

Mises.org has a lot of other free to download ebooks on financial and economic matters.

Frederic Bastiat also writes about the corruption that is inevitable in any government:

    http://bastiat.org/en/twisatwins.html

    http://bastiat.org/en/the_law.html

That’s the sort of thing you will NEVER be taught in a public school, of course, though somehow I doubt Bill Moyers is terribly keen on mentioning it, either.

Bastiat was right on, as is Ron Paul. Go back to the creation of the Federal Reserve and look at Congressman Charles. A Lindbergh (the father of the famous aviator) and the Federal Reserve. Most of his books were banned. He even discussed the Military Industrial Complex long before anyone else in Your Country at War (only 600 copies got out before Bankster/Government thugs destroyed the printing presses).

Whether you like Ron Paul or not everyone should read his books special the two newest ones, The Revolution: A Manifesto and End the Fed. They not only explain Doctor Paul through his own words (no folks, he is NOT a racist, that was just propaganda) and are very enlightening about who is running this country and why? You guessed it, it’s your Bankster pals!

This country has gotten far from its Constitutional roots through the propagation of fear within the citizenry. It is now routine for the government to propagate any “fear based” issue and us it to control you. KEEP THE FEAR ALIVE!!!

We have turned into a giant corporation where not Constitutional law is supreme but rather Admiralty Law under the Uniform Commercial Code. It is with this tool that criminality can be created as easy as Federal Reserve notes out of thin air! Most of our Statutory (Admiralty) Law is Unconstitutional. For example the War on Drugs CREATES criminality as does their new War on Terror. They undermine your civil liberties and expand the scope of government. Now the CIA not only fights the so called wars but they create the circumstances for them and the opportunity as well. The Afghanistan opium production was destroyed by the EVIL Taliban prior to our invasion. We “coincidentally” invaded just prior to growing season and now, thanks to that invasion, Opium enjoys its 100% bounties. (The Taliban knows that Opium finances Wall Street and covert black ops around the world).

It is time to WAKE UP AMERICA and take back your country from the Banksters and remove ALL Unconstitutional laws from the books!

Watched the Moyer’s show and it only reinforced my thinking that the international banks and corporations “based” in the United States were never “too big to fail”, they are, in actuality, “too powerful to control”. With this last economic “crisis” these international entities flexed their muscle and the government folded like a church chair to their demands. And it appears that if any serious legislation in congress is close to approval, no matter how overwhelming the support, the banks will threaten to and/or another “crisis” that can potentially bring this entire country to its knees.

I started out on a little web surf this morning originating from your link… republicans are a disease… tried to find a web video concerning who infiltrated America, Zionists, Jesuits?… and then came across this series of 6, 10 min videos that laid out our ECONOMIC historical development that is far more interesting than anything taught in school and directly relevant to this discussion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5EEBR4q_f8&feature(I hope that I can find a version that is in focus)This is the stuff that answers my curiosity on how Henry Ford became capitalized and even who Hitler was inspired by. Such amazing history… and again VERY relevant to this article! Plus, it establishes the oligarchs, why the monopoly’s have never really been broken up and how we got to where we are at this point in economic history.

The only peaceful way that I can think of to take our country back is to succeed each state through referendum and then recombine as a direct democracy (using Sweden as a model example). We have to eliminate the representative republic aspect to enjoy the security of not being sold out by politicians and there needs to be a firewall between government officials and the corrupting influence of corporate money.

    PUBLIC CAMPAIGN FINANCING

We must have public financing of campaigns. I know you think you don’t want to pay for it…but you already ARE!

You pay hundreds and thousands of times what you would if the politicians actually answered to you and not greedy corporate criminals. You pay thousands of times more in a CORRUPTION SURCHARGE!

YOU PAY FOR PRIVATELY FUNDED ELECTIONS RIGHT NOW!

Every no bid contract, every unpaid royalty on an oil lease, every blocked piece of legislation, every blocked investigation, every effort to get healthcare for all, every blocked attempt for a living wage, every needless nuclear warhead that will never be used, every mountaintop removal mining permit OK’d, every case of cancer caused by lax environmental rules or enforcement, every prison built instead of a school…YOU PAY AND PAY AND PAY!

And to add insult to injury, where do corporations get the money they give politicians in order to insure they can roll right over you whenever they want? FROM YOU! The cost of these payoffs is passed on to YOU the consumer!

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IN THE COUNTRY!

Whatever you think is the most important issue facing the country…forget about it. It’s going to be decided in favor of those in power. It will be watered down in favor of those who finance campaigns and control corporate media sources.

You think the health care debate is going to come out in your favor or Pfizer’s? You think we are really going to cut military spending when more than half of the military budget for the entire world is being lavished on some of the biggest campaign contributors there are? How about Bank reform? Wall Street? Big Pharma? Iraq? The environment? Just exactly how do you see any of that working out in your favor in our current system?

Our system is broken. Our government does not work for the people. It works for – or in fear of – people who can spend a lot of money, access a lot of media, or have a lot of power in society.

    IT’S THE MODERATES!

What people don’t understand is that it is not necessary to buy off the whole government in order for corporate, big money interests to get its way…every time. You merely need to control either the moderates and/or the committee heads in order to assure that whatever compromise is reached it will ALWAYS benefit BIG MONEY!

In Congress, you have partisans on either side, in safe districts, with entrenched interests who won’t compromise and are at no risk of being voted out.

Then you have the folks in the purple districts. They could get the ax anytime. Their elections could come down to which candidate has a few thousand more to spend. If Big Money goes their way they stay, if it goes to their opponent they are out.

These are the people you count on to forge the compromise between the two extremes and these are the very people who are most vulnerable to big money coming in hard and heavy against them.

COMPROMISE IS ALWAYS IN FAVOR OF BIG MONEY!

The current system assures that any compromise between the partisan extremes will be concluded in favor of big money. Even the most conscientious moderate politician in a contested state MUST cater to big money or they will not stay in congress.

    WHAT HAPPENED TO CONGRESS?

Do you wonder what has happened to democrats in congress over the last 8 years…the spinelessness and cowardice evidenced by these people?

This is the result of what happens to an organization over time when anyone who fights big money gets weeded out…even if it’s only one or two per election. Eventually you are left with …well, what we have now…a bunch of corporate lap dogs.

The Gramm Leach Bliley Act or the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999, (Pub.L. 106-102, 113 Stat. 1338, enacted November 12, 1999) was voted for by BOTH corrupt parties
which allowed the Banks to circumvent FRAUD LAWS and offer
ARMs, allowed AIG to get as big as it wanted, accommodated Fanny and Freddy
to bloat itself and On and On and On. So who is responsible for the banks being able to be irresponsible?

Blowback, Blowback, Blowback: Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Ladin, etc., etc., we will never learn because we believe ourselves to be omnipotent but in actuality we are impotent in the world where we are the biggest purveyors of violence!

  • lies

Honestly, here's the ONLY plan that will work with Afghanistan – Politicians take note,

What need is to nuke Afghanistan, completely. Then nuke Pakistan.

    Then give Pakistan to India.

    Problem solved.

    I'm only half kidding.

If we leave the Taliban take control.

If we stay a bunch of Western kids die and the Taliban take control.

Either way, WHEN they seize control, Pakistan will destabilize and either become a military dictatorship or fall to the extremists.

And hey, if it falls to the extremists, India WILL nuke it.

Nuke them both, end the problem once and for all.

  • enorceht

don't forget pakistan also has nukes and i'm sure they would them in a second if attacked

  • CharlieL

But he's RIGHT when he said that foreigners stole the election. Nobody really believes that Karzai could have stolen the election without a lot of help from Bush/Rove-trained operatives in the US whose well-honed expertise in stealing elections has been proven time and time again.

  • PaPap

    Afghanistan=the graveyard of empires.

Karzai=which ever way the wind blows.

Hamid Karzai was a top adviser to the El Segundo, California-based UNOCAL Corporation which was negotiating with the Taliban to construct a Central Asia Gas (CentGas) pipeline from Turkmenistan through western Afghanistan to Pakistan.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/6EX2KJ7LSZMDCBZWCH62Q7CABY Sandra

That was Russia, not the US.

  • lies

wellll… Karzai's used to stolen elections, just not used to other people caring.

Team Obama might be playing hardball with him in an effort to ensure that AF doesn't turn into PK.

  • RonniNY

Entirely a bungled mess. IMO all we had to do was put a hefty bounty on Bin Laden's head, early on, if taking him out was really our objective. Or a well planned covert operation that may have needed a year or two to complete but would have only needed to utilize a small number of our people rather than the 100K+ we're using now and would have saved trillions of dollars and countless civilian lives.

The internal struggles of the Afghan people are theirs to deal with. We could have helped by funneling in $$ to factions that wanted to fight the Taliban if we felt the need to assist but we certainly didn't have to be there. Cowboy mentality, American arrogance, immature inability to see a global big picture, and a neocon belief that we should be at the helm of the world – these things together will be our downfall

  • lies

And who would they nuke? The can't reach us….

I actually don't think they could figure out who to nuke quickly
    enough for it to matter.

    It's bound to happen eventually.

The ONLY reason why the West is in Afghanistan is to protect the flow of oil — Nothing more. Karzai undersands this very well, since he was installed by the West because of his strong ties and business background in the energy industry. Karzai is paying nothing but lip service to those in his government, to diffuse pressure and tension and a backlash against foreign armies on their soil and their ultimate control over him. Make no mistake — Karzai is safely and squarely in the back pocket of the U.S. and U.K.

    7. Not immature cowboy arrogance, but carefully PNAC planned imperialism. As the oil runs out, our corporatist / MIC oligarchs will be the only ones left standing. The world belongs to U.S.

Nuclear weapons don't just blow up targets. They spread radioactive fallout some of which will travel around the world, causing birth defects and in the worst cases sickness and death. NOBODY wins in a nuclear exchange. Please stop calling to nuke things, it is shortsighted and dangerous to YOU and your children.

Want a possible World solution? Bring Amerikan business home; close bases and bring all military home; stay out of other countries' business; have negotiations for FAIR trade instead of the “FREE” (?) trade of now; fight overpopulation with legislation; “tax the rich, feed the poor, 'til there are no rich no more” (Thank you “Ten Years After”!); allow people to die with dignity instead of polluting the planet with worthless bodies; give control of government to the states with the Fed responsible for ONLY Defense (not aggression) and International Communication; tax churches; find a way to end homelessness with low-cost housing; elections happen with ONLY a paper & run-off format, etc. etc. etc.

I know: some of the ideas are harsh but we are reaching a point where harsh and firm must supersede acceptance of the rape of the planet and its people. O.K. Now it's your turn to either agree, stone me with words, or add to the list. HAVE FUN!

I'm ok with the collateral damage… It less damage to the world than
    is being caused now.

Btw. I don't want to nuke these places; this is just the best worst
    option.

We could've avoided it by taking AF seriously for the last eight
years, but no, that didn't happen.

Remember what Newsweek reported last week, for the last 8 years the US
has had NO police training program in AF.

    None.

The US is incapable of taking this seriously, this will spiral out of
    control.

    Cut your loses.

We have ample proof that the US doesn't are about the PEOPLE in these
places, or the rule of law, so why not come up with a winning strategy
    tht reflects these REALITIES?

Besides, if your worried about cancer protest cell phones; they'd be
worse than the fallout from a nuke on the other side of the globe.

The only thing 9/11 has to do with Afghanistan is that it was a pre-planned justification for invasion. Bush and Bin Laden are/were (if he's dead) business partners and 9/11 co-conspirators. Afghanistan relaly has nothing to do with 9/11, and the grunts who die there are doing so at the bidding of the U.S. military industrial complex and corporate industrial complex. The world is a RISK board game, and the U.S. has many troops well-positioned in the midst of the middle east, surround both all the oil, and on either side of Iran.

We went through 9/11, had a Commission that gave recommendations on how to prevent it, and what design changes for new buildings to prevent those mysterious LOSS of ALL STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY upto an hour after the 'attack' that caused the major part of the tragedy, and DUE TO THE FIRES, by the Commision's own words.
And Bush refused to implement the changes citing UNREASONABLE COST!… increases for new construction.

It's hard to tell if you are being ironic or are a true believer in the “official” conspiracy theory of 9/11. The 9/11 Commission's “own words”, at least according to both of it's co-chairs, was that they had been lied to by the Bush administration and the military and more investigation was needed. The fact that such a real investigation hasn't happened under Obama is very disturbing.

  • Savantster

The reason Karzi knows the U.S. is trying to install a puppet government is because that's how we installed him. Now he's mad that we want to replace him.

standard operating procedure; we over throw governments we don't like and install puppets. When those puppets get out of line, we replace them if we can, kill them if we can't (ala Saddam). Karzi simply knows the inside story because he lived it, and is not being pushed out. Watch for a “suicide bomber” to attack some “government building” he “happens to be at”, and he's gone in a “tragic bombing”.

  • Savantster

What part did Afghanistan play in Sept. 11, 2001 again? Oh, right.. none. Pakistan payed Atta and 15 of the 19 alleged hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. The only thing Afghanistan had to do with Sept. 11, 2001 was that they allegedly let bin Laden hang out there afterwords. Oh, and he was there before the attacks in a hospital having a transfusion, and the CIA was in his room chatting him up instead of arresting him for being on the FBIs 10 most wanted list.

Afghanistan has a pipeline through it that we use. The Taliban wants it gone so we installed a government that will let us keep it there. It has _not thing 1_ to do with anything else. Period.

because to demand withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan requires that you understand the facts, that they had nothing to do with us being attacked.. OR, you have to feel it's ok to kill hundreds of thousands of people 1/2 way around the world so you can have cheaper energy to feed your gluttony. Neither of those is something smart or decent people do, but we're talking tea-baggers here. They won't demand a reduction in military because they are ignorant or abusive, of both.

  • sami

Afghan war all about the UNOCAL Pipepline. Karzai, the Prime Minister of Afghanistan, was a top adviser to the El Segundo, California-based UNOCAL Corporation which was negotiating with the Taliban to construct a Central Asia Gas (CentGas) pipeline from Turkmenistan through western Afghanistan to Pakistan.
Condoleezza Rice, a former member of the board of Chevron, itself no innocent bystander in the future CentGas deal. Rice made an impression on her old colleagues at Chevron. The company has named one of their supertankers the SS Condoleezza Rice.
A chief benefactor in the CentGas deal would have been Halliburton, the huge oil pipeline construction firm that also had its eye on the Central Asian oil reserves. At the time, Halliburton was headed by Dick Cheney.

The Taliban/US (texas) meetings was on UNOCALS corporate website until weeks after 9/11. Then totally deleted.
