After learning that Fox News anchor Sean Hannity was set to headline a Tea Party event that was raising money for its coffers by charging admission, angry executives cancelled his appearance Thursday.

Network execs claimed they weren’t aware that Hannity was set to be the headliner of the Tea Party event. They told reporters that they’d nixed Hannity’s plans to broadcast from the site of the event in Cincinnati when they heard about it Thursday morning.

“Fox News never agreed to allow the Cincinnati Tea Party organizers to use Sean Hannity’s television program to profit from broadcasting his show from the event,” Bill Shine, the network’s executive vice president of programming, told a reporter. “When senior executives in New York were made aware of this, we changed our plans for tonight’s show.”

Event organizers were set to charge $20 for a seat near Hannity’s set.

Noted the local Cincinnati paper:

Hannity will sign his book, “Conservative Victory,” outside the Fifth Third Arena at the University of Cincinnati from 4:30-5:30 p.m., then interview actor Jon Voight and Joe the Plumber, inside, live, starting at 6 p.m. The plumber, a.k.a. Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, became famous in 2008 when he questioned then-candidate Barack Obama at a campaign stop in Ohio about his small-business tax policy. He became the face of middle Americans for the McCain-Palin campaign.

“It’s exciting to have (Hannity) here,” said Justin Binik-Thomas, the Cincinnati party’s vice president of national affairs and strategy. “People are really excited to hear some conservative leaders.”

Tickets are required and sell for $5 at www.cincinnatiteaparty.org or 1-877-228-7849. Only leftovers, if any, will be sold at the door. And if you want a chance to be on TV, seats around the Hannity set cost $20. The arena seats 13,000.

An organizer told the paper that tickets proceeds would go towards the overhead of producing the event, but that “overages” would go to the local Tea Party organization.

Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto did, however, appear at a Tea Party rally Thursday. The network said they didn’t have a problem with his appearance because he wasn’t headlined as part of the actual event.

MediaMatters, the liberal watchdog group, first highlighted Hannity’s appearance and the apparent inappropriateness of having a host appear in a fundraiser for a partisan political group.

Cluster-Fox is so physco-babble-trash now days. More so than usual, especially since the Swag-Hag got her outdoor bunker with fake backgrounds… These people are so whacked that you can’t tell from day-to-day whether or not the writers and commentators got out of the physco-ward last night or this morning before they go on air…

Hannity steals money from the families of dead soldiers. Plain, pure and simple. Ollie north is his side kick.

A Fox news executive has a conscience? I'll have to process that one …

  • Scuby

Leave it to republicans to attempt to profit from anything they can. Its kind of ironic isn't it? Charging admission to an event which sole purpose is to gripe about spending and taxes.

The sheer arrogance with which “terrorism”, “despotism” and “liberalism” are lumped together in a catchphrase on the cover of a book of one of THE poster children for despotic propaganda…

Fascist parrots like Hannity rely on neurolinguistic programming to brainwash people into connecting “terrorism” and “despotism” with “liberalism”. The REAL purpose of such NLP techniques is to divert attention away from what happened from 2001-2008. I have to admit, it's extremely effective, because even I am thrown aback by such ridiculous fact immune, reality-divorced, upside down, brutal propaganda techniques. I think the first step is to properly identify not only the specific techniques used by Hannity, but by this whole coterie of talking head fascist enablers.

I wonder to what extent fascist enablers such as Hannity are ideologues and to what extent they are simply doing what they are paid handsomely to do.

I wonder if there is a “command center” if you will for all this historical revisionism and Bush atrocity whitewashing. Obviously Glenn Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity share the same nest, but what about utter crackpots like Jonah Goldberg?

Perhaps it's difficult to pinpoint or blame a single entity for mass delusion. We are dealing with memes, not necessarily just talking points and soundbites passed down through some hierarchy. The effect of previous efforts has already become self-sustaining. The scary thing is historical revisionism can become permanent when unchallenged, through sheer quantity.

What's wrong with impartial, fair and balanced journalists headlining uber-partisan political uprisings? This is America, right? Don't our newsgivers have a right to their demagoguery?

FOXNEWS promoting teabaggers and helping raise money…I'm shocked – shocked there's gambling in Vegas!! FOX created this angry mob by overcovering them and broadcasting live. Over estimating the crowds and overpromoting this group boosts ratings, creates more anger, and women's doc killings in Kansas, and men flying into IRS buildings in Texas. I'm sure the Michigan militia men had FOXNEWS on and Billo books in their gun-stocked fortified homes waiting for the rapture, lamenting a black man in office.

  • dennycrane

…and the sheeples keep heading to the slaughter house.

  • allenallen

So… stop watching any Fox channel. Because if you do watch “The Simpsons” or whatever your favorite Fox shows are, you are supporting Murdoch and his insane right-wing BS.

  • DownriverDem

Why does Fox News care about this now? They have been in bed with the tea baggers since day one. I don't get this change of heart now.

  • DownriverDem

    In one word: NO

  • walib

Nah, not really but Rupert Murdoch was just on TeeVee claiming that his station is not promoting the Tea Party, and no matter how hypocritical it is, I bet that's what this is about. If you work for that evil gnome you had better not be caught providing embarrassing evidence that he lied in public.

Wouldn't you love to see the Sean and Ollie show broadcast live from a prison with them as inmates? I'd watch.

  • kwertie

Hannity is such a piece of shit. I hope he burns in hell forever.

The only reason Fox didn't want him there is because they didn't get a percentage of the take.

  • kwertie

Fuck the broadcast. Just throw them in and forget them.

We know who'd be whose bitch, don't we.

  • kwertie

No! They were not set to get a cut of the take! Hannity is on their payroll.

  • kwertie

    They wanted their cut.

  • Conebeatsyanks

If Hannity was as tough and as cool as he pretends he is, he would have told his handlers that he was not leaving Cincinnati. He is merely an entertainer who says that Rush helped him. Yes, Rush helped him with marketing phrases like “you are a great american” or “let not your heart be troubled.” It is a shame that so many people do not understand that these entertainers are laughing at them all the way to the bank!!

    VERY well said.

It is exactly why we must never be silent, or tolerant and must scream like a motherf**ker.

  • scytherius

I wondered that myself. There have been some very negative polls and studies about TeaBaggers and Fox of late but not telling us anything they don't already know. maybe the drumbeat of “Fox News is the GOP” got on someone's nerves a bit. Who knows.

Children, children stop fighting and using such bad language, Are you all so very angry that you finally realize that “change” doesn't necessarily mean “change for the better”? If you don't like FOX News, don't watch or is that too simple? If that is too simple and you can't make a decision, get President Obama to appoint a Czar to help all of you. Why are all of you so afraid of the Tea party? Don't join! We still have the right of Free Speech, that is until Obama and company take that right away from us. God Bless America

Good post. These are truly frightening days. That the propagandists seem to be making so much headway means we're looking forward to some dark, dark times ahead.

Scytherius is right: we can't stop screaming, yelling & shouting about this. This “battle for hearts and minds” can't be lost, because losing it means losing the bigger war on free & rational civilization.

FOX …FAUX outrage….its becoming widely known that FOX is fanning the flames of the crazies.. the Exec's don't want any one to point fingers at them or investigate if some thing bad should happen..like Timothy McVeigh wanna-be's…killing a bunch of innocent Americans while protesting the Federal Government….might send Roger Ails and Rupert to prison…or permanently deported back to England's old “penal colony”, Australia… Matey!

  • Peter

Does anyone think that there may be some legal issue that is behind this. How far does a broadcaster have to go, before they break their responsibility to use the airwaves in the public interest. If Fox continues to lie, get things wrong and actively participates in political movement could they loose their license?

I've got to think that someone at the FCC is waiting to drop the hammer and Fox knows that.

  • kimbutgar

Great post. I have been wondering about the neurolinguisitic programming as well. The viewers become programmed and parrots talking points like they are ingrained in their brains but when you ask them to clarify you are met with blank stares and silence. Also there is some subliminal stuff going on too with the graphics. I can't watch Pox for more than 5 minutes before I get nauseous. I would love someone to do an in depth article on this phenomena and get it published in Time or Newsweek or the NY Times.

  • boboberg

The tea-baggers are a group of old, rich, white, disgruntled republicans who hate black people and the poor. I'm not surprised at anything they do except they're not going to influence any elections in November because the middle class and the poor outnumber them thank god!!!! Mark Montgomery NYC, NY

  • kimbutgar

Grandma you should be ashamed of yourself. With your selfish I got mine attitude and your blind support for bush is what got us into this trouble in the first place. Watching too much Fox cable channel has brain damaged you. Are you in the early stages of Alzheimers?

  • Bubba

I have two existential wishes in life…to see Bush and Cheney in the dock…to see Murdoch penniless and riducled by the fascist organization he promotes.

  • http://activecitizen54.wordpress.com/ Kevin_Atlanta

Ollie and Shawn have lots in common. Helped to induce a drug addiction to a huge population, steal from a charity set up and run by them, try to present with legitimacy but the hypocrisy is seen. Fair and Balanced my @ss.
Why anyone wastes time with this Bozo is as much a mystery as how anyone can sit through a Beck Rant or Palin Screech.

  • Anonymous

I always enjoy your comments. Boston Legal?

  • tropicgirl

Its a losing battle for the Republicans and the Tea Party “Express” to try to incorporate the Tea Party. It won't work. And very, very, soon Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, Fox, Palin, and the rest will join with Obama and try to trash them for real. Beck already did it in Texas where he destroyed the Tea Party candidate.

This is why the lunatic liberals should not treat the Tea Partiers so badly. When the GOP realizes that they are of no use to them, them hating Bush and all, they will discard. If you like people that truly care about the country, then talk to them and try to share things.

You may not be able to share “Obama” since the idiot discredited his own party, filthied his own bed, so to speak, but you can share feelings on the war and how unfair it is and how it is breaking our economy. You can talk about torture. And fiscal responsibility.

Don't just give them up to the GOP. The GOP truly has no use for them, nor they for it. Pay attention.

  • OldAtlantic

Letting your enemies in Lib press decide your reporting is suicide. Just like Fox caves on non-white immigration and affirmative action. Lib news covers the Democrat and GOP conventions. Why not Tea Party?

The Tea Party actually represents the people, not a group of insiders like DemoGOP. Its part of DemoGOP stranglehold which the Lib media enforces. This prevents any discussion of non-white immigration and race replacement of whites by that and affirmative action and uncivil rights laws.

  • DCinDC

Hannity knows that this is propaganda to sway the tea bagging folks. That is why he tried to keep his plans hidden from the FOX News execs.

  • Pennsylvanianne

Please name me a liberal broadcast news pundit who appeared at a paid Democratic Party event in the past year, with proceeds from the gate going to the party. In the past five years. Ten years.

  • overdoneputaforkinit

Fox news is still trying to pretend it isn't a partisan right-wing propaganda machine. Their celebrity talking heads can appear as guests of honor and speakers at American Al-Qaeda events.

  • Satan

Sean Hannity, professional dick. But hey, at least he's not out murdering people, he merely rationalizes it and it's not like the 'liberals' he so despises are any less supportive of endless war, otherwise it'd be over and done with.

Hmmm, who else do we know that loves to rationalize war? It's not just the pretend-conservatives.
