I'm kind of frightened by the hate spewing at the bottom of the comments here – and can we separate being Jewish from supporting a religiously preferential government? The way people are conflating the two is unfair.
I was born Catholic, doesn't mean I'm not freaked out by the Vatican and some of our terrible problems, but it is my heritage so please be gentle – I can't imagine Jewish people feel any different.
To be honest, the current state of things in Israel isn't fair at all, and the entire situation has been so poisoned who is going to stand up and do the right thing now? No matter your religion, most seem to agree thou shall not steal, kill, imprison unfairly, torture, etc.
Thank God, or whoever, or no one in particular we have people like Chomsky to call us on it every so often. To speak against your family's tradition and faith is hard. Do your thing man, you probably drew more attention by being excluded than by speaking to a small crowd.
