I'm not sure all of that is true… for instance, I read that Fabrice wrote an email stating they shorted the oil production a week before the event and that it was a joke… albeit an horrific joke but a joke nonetheless by soem journalist at Huffington Post. I tried to contact them for a response about just that and never heard back from them or the journalist that wrote “the joke.”

Many countries have offered suggestions for dealing with the catastrophe brought on by failure to use proper safety procedures and have been ignored. Does it really matter if a Republican points out the obvious fact that this has not been handled well from the start of the project? Is there more than one “truth”, with only the one that comes from an authorized Democrat carrying significance?

It may be British Petroleum, but the owners are international. Also, whether it is in international water or not, the spill will primarily affect the US coastline for a very long time. It may even reach Britain via the Gulf Stream eventually.

Whoever first said “never waste a good crisis” or similar intent predated Bush and Cheney. But, even if that is not the case, the words were repeated by Hillary and Rahm. A quick google of the quote and either name will bring up many web sites referring to both.

Cap and Trade may be written one way but the word Trade turns it into a completely different animal. Trade is international, Trading in carbon credits is already a multi-billion dollar scam in Europe and this bill will merely be the entry point for more money to flow into that bubble. Bye-bye pension funds. Also, the plan is to have a carbon tax to support international governance and this is likely an entry point for that as well.

Where's the investigation into the June 2 Raw Story news article of Goldman Sachs selling $250 million of BP stock in the first quarter of 2010 (one month before the spill), that's 43% of Goldman Sachs' BP holdings!

Still, your point that a CEC should never have been issued is correct. There should have been minimally an EA or a full EIS (these can take years, so I'm thinking Cheney and the loyalists in MMI wanted off-shore drilling streamlined after Bush recinded the ban on deep water offshore drilling that was put in place after Exxon Valdiz)
