I suspected on January 20 that Roberts' mistake was race based. Here he was, swearing in a dark skinned man with a funny name as president. I don't recall in my lifetime a Supreme Court Justice flubbing the oath of office while swearing in a new chief executive. I don't think Roberts is stupid as much as blinded by a narrow, inhumane ideology. Roberts and certainly Scalia would have been quite happy during the time of Dred Scot.

This is a barb against what years ago was being called “judicial activism” and “legislating from the bench” by right wing ideologues under Gingrich who want to turn of Roe v Wade. It is impossible to reconcile apostate Christianity with the teaching of Jesus: for instance, blessed are the peacemakers as they are the children of God.

i haven't actually just accepted data re mormons so much. anecdotal
experiences from when i lived where it was strong. i've been present when
mormons came to the door and spoke. a few years ago, met this guy whose mom
had been drummed out of the church of mormon when she took on a female
lover. mormon church backs antigay propositions, antagonistic to women's
rights; seems rather rightwing politics. i've never heard of that church
being anti-war or that they were non-violent with the indians. pretty common
stuff in christianity, religions generally.
