Just because two groups take the same position on an issue does not mean they necessarily have anything else in common. This is similar to guilt by association. While it may be true that some racists oppose the building of a mosque at ground-zero – there are many more who are NOT racist that oppose building the mosque. Why aren't their views being aired? Could it be that they are too logical and non-controversial? It seems that the hateful headline grabbing folks get first bidding and are shown as the yardstick to measure everyone else against. They ARE racist, hateful people. Why is everyone who opposes the mosque labled as being in cohorts with these people. It is plain and simple bad taste to build it. That is not a racist view. I think that you are oversimplifying the matter to a point of absurdity. There is more to the ADL than just “bigoted attacks against Muslims”. Jews have so often been attacked for the simple fact that they are Jews, that the ADL felt it necessary to mount a defense against anti-Semites. This particular action is not supported by all Jews, It is short-sighted and in the long run will prove to be a mistake. The Middle East and North Africa were once part of Christiandom, but Islam spread through the area at the point of the sword.
