Texas slams Obama after Mexico border gun battles

Texas Governor Rick Perry has accused President Barack Obama of “gambling with American lives” after a bullet believed to be from a gun battle in Mexico hit a building in the US state.

“For the second time in two months, bullets from a gun battle in the escalating drug war in Juarez have struck a building in El Paso,” Perry said.

Borderzine.com, a website belonging to the University of Texas in El Paso, said the incident occurred Saturday and a single bullet hit a building belonging to the university.

No injuries were reported, but Perry said the federal government’s failure to reinforce the border with Mexico was endangering US lives.

“It is unconscionable that the Obama administration is gambling with American lives,” the Republican governor said.

“It’s time for Washington to stop the rhetoric and immediately deploy a significance force of personnel and resources to the border.”

Perry noted that in June, a number of bullets believed to be from a gun battle in Ciudad Juarez hit a building in El Paso, and that a car and a building at the University of Texas-Brownsville were similarly hit a year ago.

Texas, like a number of US states on the border with Mexico, has expressed increasing concern about the drug trafficking-related violence raging next door.

The battle between drug cartels fighting over lucrative smuggling routes and Mexican government operations against the gangs have left some 28,000 people dead since December 2006.

why doesn’t rick perry just go down there with his pistol and take care of it himself. it’s macho bullshit tough-guy attitudes like that, that made me leave texas.

The globalists support illegal immigration for the dual purpose of creating new debtors and to suppress wage ‘inflation’. Republicans support illegal immigration because they think it provides them with cheap, easily exploitable labor. Democrats support illegal immigration because they believe the masses of poor immigrants will aid them in expanding welfare programs and other social agendas. But these factions are all alligned against the American people. The American people lose while the border remains unsecure as drugs, human traffickers, murderous & sadistic gang members, and corrupt mexican military all travel freely across it, bringing with them serious crime and bloody turf wars. As Rick Perry stated, our lives are put at risk while the government deliberately, and willfully refuses to uphold its obligation to secure the borders. There are limitless resources for imperial wars in foreign lands, but very little to address the dangers of a porous border with a violent, lawless narco-state.

It’s about time Mexico returned to sender some of the ammunition and firearms y’all have been illegally exporting here. The further you get from the U.S. border, the fewer firearms deaths you find in Mexico, which — even if you’re in denial about the source — certainly tells you where they are concentrated. Since there is only one source for buying ammunition in Mexico (run by the Secretariat of Defense) and the bullet in question doesn’t seem to be from anything legally available in Mexico, draw your own conclusions.

  • razrlazr

Doesn’t Texas want to secede from the U.S. Well, Gov. Perry, let’s pretend you have seceded, how would you handle this situation?

Is he up for re-election? Sounds like political grandstanding.

  • http://balmorheaprogrogressive.blogspot.com/ Bailey Wu Xiang

Governor Good Hair is at it again. He makes no sense whatsoever. More border patrol agents aren’t going to stop stray bullets. Maybe he should go down to El Paso and take one in the ass for the Gipper. But then, he already does that in his family’s home in the Panhandle and guns aren’t even involved.

  • parrots_abound

Why does RAWSTORY’S headline say this :

“Texas fires upon Obama after Mexico border gun battles”.

Yet the story it links to says this:

“Texas slams Obama after Mexico border gun battles”???

“News” websites that are encouraged by their owners and donors to incite emotion based reactions use these tactics. News agencies handled by operatives within the Gov,The CIA, other intelligence groups, and ‘foundation’ funded groups, know the importance of wordplay and emotional anchoring in story headlines.

I’ve seen Rawstory do it daily and I just wonder why more people haven’t caught on…or have they?

Hey RAW, what’s the deal with the never ending emotion inciting headlines you use daily?
Is the goal to incite anger over substance?

  • http://www.balmorheaprogressive.blogspot.com/ BaileyWuXiang

Now how is Obama supposed to stop a stray bullet hitting a building in El Paso by sending more border patrol agents? Perry is just shooting his mouth off again for votes. He’s opposed in the upcoming elections by the Mayor or Houston, Bill White, who has $12 more cents than he does. If he’s so worried about strays, he ought to go down to El Paso and take one in the ass for the team. But then, he’s already gotten in that habit; and then he’s got the gall to turn right around and pander to christonazis as a family values candidate opposed to GLBTs. With Rick Perry, sometimes a cigar is not just a cigar.

  • Anonymous

That’s exactly what he’s doing and, yes, he’s facing a tough candidate in Bill White, the popular Democratic Mayor of Houston.

  • Anonymous

I can easily envision Perry standing in front of a school, complaining on camera that the fed does not give out enough money for education, grabbing a schoolchild and shielding himself from stray gunfire.
    .
Juarez has had a difficult time, indeed, but it’s been about ten years of trouble for them and El Paso. Half a million have fled Juarez. Whole neighborhoods stand abandoned.
Where was Perry on this topic before the election cycle?

    He won’t do either.

  • Drmjg

One question: As governor of Texas, why has Perry not called out the National Guard?

oh our cement headed jackass govenor. How about this moron perry, arrest all bullets! They are crossing the boarder illegally!!

So does this fucking moron want to invade Mexico?

The gun battles are on Mexican soil. What in gods name does putting troops on the boarder going to do? Other than getting them hit by stray bullets. Or maybe that’s what he wants. A stray bullet hits some poor slob soldier, so now cement head perry will have his justification to cross boarder attack. let me tell you, that won’t go over well.

The Zeda’s and other drug gangs know full well not to engage in drug battles on our soil. They aren’t THAT stupid.

oh perry, I can’t wait till your ass gets handed to you in November. Texas has had enough of your stupid.

Seems like the easiest and best way to resolve this problem is just to legalize marijuana. The majority of the drug battles *are* over marijuana, and marijuana is safer than alcohol. Legalize, tax, regulate, and suddenly you have less crime, smaller prisons, more revenue, and happier citizens.

Defending the borders against foreign incursion does not violate Posse Comitatus. It is a violation to use the military as a police force against American citizens. Infact, using our troops to defend the homeland is consistant with their primary purpose– they shouldnt be off fighting imperial wars in foreign lands, they should be here DEFENDING.

  • peoplekillpeoplenotguns

Jesus, enough with the regulations. I guess the drug gangs are going to obey MORE regulations? All gun control laws do is make it harder for LAW ABIDING citizens to own guns.

It is the appetite for drugs and the huge amounts of cash involved that precipitate these battles in the first place. LEGALIZE Marijuana immediately, grow it in southern Oregan and northern California, and tax it. By taking Marijuana out of the equation, more than two thirds of the monthly income generated by drug smuggling would evaporate. By taking the money away, society can remove the conditions that spawned these gangs in the first place.

Lastly, make our society totally cashless. If people couldnt use cash, and all transactions were electronic, nobody could purchase drugs on the street.

OK. So people on the “right” started the mudslinging. Or not. Who cares?

We currently have a large problem with border incursions, drug/human coyotes, and now stray bullets finding their way up from the failed state of Mexico into our country.

This is happening right now. There isn’t anything we can do about the stuff that happened during the Bush 1 or Clinton Admins, nor is there anything we can do about what happened during Bush 2. What we can do is get on the ball and fix the problem NOW.

Seems to me we did this during Prohibition & it proved not only fruitless, but it created Organized Crime by it’s existance. We need to wake up.

The major parties are two hands of the same beast.

You want a solution? It’s really easy. Abolish the Federal Reserve. Both major parties are absolutely beholden to the central bank and its minions, such as *cough* the CFR. Any other debate is absolutely fruitless.

  • willymack

Can’t do that, doancha know. There are too many powerful interests who want an endless war on drugs just like the endless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
    A partial list includes
    Wholesalers
    The “legitmate” drug racketeers
Crooked banks which launder drug money, and
Crooked politicians taking money from all the above

  • Delmerwilburn

Let’s see: Guns that they use for the drug war against the gov’t in Mexico are bought at guns shows here in the U.S., yet when Hilary Clinton mentioned that, she was lambasted. Also, can’t everyone in Texas own a gun now? Why don’t they just shoot back. Such cowards they are. Mexico is talking again about legalizing drugs, the U.S. stopped them last time, leave them alone this time.

  • Anonymous

Hello here in houston MS13 has been killing people at least two police officers have been killed by illegals, so exactly what are the feds waiting for? An fbi agent, senator, has to be killed before these “peaceful undocumented aliens” are stopped AT THE BORDER?

  • Anonymous

I suppose that Texas alone put bushiebush in office, I’m a democrat and I’m pissed that our democrats in congress and the senate just rubber stamped bushiebush’s budgets and everything else coming out of the whitehouse. That is until he became a lame duck then they started to peep up. Guess they didn’t want to make him mad. The facts are that either both parties are full of crap or the democrats are years behind the curve. Also i wonder where you would get your oil products from if the port of houston was in a foriegn country.

Please do not use common sense.

You don’t need to read to work at whataburger they have pictures, maybe just say no to sex isn’t exactly sex education, i don’t know texas conservatives say thay teaching real sex education would be condoning kids to have sex. I’m afraid the folks down here are bad at chemistry, they think you can squeeze the last o molecule out of co they really don’t understand the concept of pollution. Lastly why buy insurance when hospital er’s have to treat you anyway.

White won’t make it, Perry has all the morons on his side.

  • Anonymous

They’ re in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • Aguywithagun

The guns they use come from China and Europe. Contrary to common belief, not everyone in Texas owns firearms, and the bullet hit a University building where firearms are illegal to carry. As for the cowards remark, try saying that to a true Texan and see what happens…

  • Native Texacan

you idiot! what planet are you from? we know you’re not from Texas, or you would not have made such an idiotic statement. I’m a true born TEXAN! and damn proud of it, wish you were here to call me a coward to my face, I’d show you what would happen! and oh yes, I am a Texas that not only owns a gun, but several!

  • Guest

And just how do you know it’s not true?

  • Native Texecan

Hey! wake up, I’ve got news for you. The drug cartels are already doing this here in Texas. The gangs extend all the way to Washingto DC. This is nothing new.

  • Michael Bogart

Oh PLEASE! you two sound like two little kids, ” I rubber your glue” jeeeeeze grow up!

  • rancher

hey genep34…we’re number 47 in literacy and 1st in teen pregnancy because of all the illegals!
You try giving the border jumpers a reading test in an english speaking school system and see how many you can find that “read”….get some spray paint and a brick wall and watch em write though! The teen preg thing….you ever heard of anchor babies?…isn’t that the whiney left’s doctrine aimed at increasing they’re dependent voting block? I’d say…Texans in general just want to be left alone by D.C. and all you other wussified left leaning enclaves….if you have something to offer come down and help…if not…come on down anyway….theres a cool story about some new cartel dump ground they just found south of Matamoros…maybe you can go visit those loveable..”illegals” down there…tell em we’re not all bad up here….maybe grind some corn….or get ground yourself.

  • Anonymous

you make my point – your ignorance is overwhelming – that must be the immigrants fault too.

i have a suggestion for you. go back to school and see someone about your tendency to blame the immigrants for your ignorance and teen pregnancy and pollution – they must be doing that too.

and your hatred must be because of them – and of course if they were gone you wouldn’t be racist either.

  • Zeroizer

Stand Tall Texas…You are the Lone Star state for a reason…to stand above all others and shine for Liberty and Freedom. Don’t ASK for permission…DEFEND TEXAS and tell the Admin to piss off!

  • NecroFreak666

We defeated the Mexicans before, for those of who do not remember San Jacinto, although they are clearly winning the immigration battle. We can easily beat them again, they want our land, our money, but refuse to obey our laws, while pumping out babies paid for by yours truly. Why dont we just invade all of Mexico like we did Iraq? Mexico in realty has way more “terrorist”, they cut of heads just like the Taliban, and are more racist than the Nazis, “La Raza”. I would volunteer in a heart beat to go battle these sleaz ball scumbags.

  • Anonymous

I simply mean the Zetas haven’t been stopped from engaging in battles on U.S. soil. They ignore international law and anything else that gets in their way. This is mainly because bush and perry have ignored it, allowed it, and even profited from it.

  • TheDevilCanDance

“We can easily beat them again”

Yeah and hopefully young brave souls like yourself, will volunteer for the front lines….Hahaha

  • Robert Shaftoe

OK, let’s ask them how we’re going to pay to “immediately deploy a significance force of personnel and resources to the border.”

Also, be sure to point out that maybe if the states got serious about NOT selling guns to just anyone who walks in the door, and to crack down on all the border-gun and ammo shops (they’re operating in broad daylight and they’re arming these drugs cartels to the teeth); maybe then we could have a serious discussion about border security. After all, guns are EXTREMELY difficult to legally obtain in Mexico. These cartels are arming themselves with weapons bought on THIS side of the border.

  • Robert Shaftoe

Yeah NecrophiliaFreakSatan, you would do well to read a little history and get thyself to the recruiting station right this minute.

You want to talk about who took land away from who?

One could say the same thing about America if they made the same STUPID mistake you’re making: that is, blaming an entire nation for the actions of some criminal factions. Are all Americans rapists because a few criminals in our military committed a heinous crime? Are all Americans corporate shills just because a good number of them in this nation are? Are all Americans racist just because we have some knuckledragging racists on THIS side of the border?

Come on, you KNOW the people causing the problems are NOT everyone in Mexico.

Or are you really stuck in the Alamo?

  • Robert Shaftoe

I say we give Texas back to Mexico if it’s full of people like “Native Texacan”. LOL

  • Robert Shaftoe

Right, and not ONE pallet of guns from the USA has ever made it across the border.

Hey, there’s this bridge up in Alaska I’ve got for sale . . .

  • Robert Shaftoe

Most of these tough talkers would have their faces shot-off in a real gun battle. Most (not all) of these tough talkers have never seen actual combat. And for the few that have (served in the military or with law enforcement), I salute and I will get out of your way to talk tough, because, like me, you can probably put your money where your mouth is.

All too many people in this country are driven by fear. If they could only clear their heads long enough to realize adding to the violence will make them reap the wind.

  • Robert Shaftoe

Some of my best friends are Texans and some of the best things in this country can be found in Texas (the live music scene in Austin for starters). Hang in there.

Inspire to be a soldier of bliss, caught behind enemy lines, strutting. :)

  • Robert Shaftoe

Rumor has it that Barack Obama was in the next room when Glenn Beck raped that young girl back in 1995.

  • Robert Shaftoe

Isn’t it up to the Governor to deploy his own state’s National Guard?

  • Robert Shaftoe

Exactly, we SHOOT people crossing the border, and I wonder how many times our bullets have crossed over to their side of the border. We shoot one of theirs and it barely makes the news but a bullet supposedly from Mexico chips a building wall, and it’s a declaration of war?

Is there actual proof of the origination of this bullet? Seems like a quick way to keep the based riled-up.

Also, what proof, if the bullet did indeed originate in Mexico, what proof do we have that it was shot by a Mexican national?

I definitely believe things have become VERY dangerous in Mexico, but there are vested interests on this side of the border that have every reason to whip-up a fear-based frenzy.

Perry won’t be happy until America is completely isolated from the rest of the world, including a kevlar wall around our borders and biometric IDs implanted in each and every non-corporate person.

  • Robert Shaftoe

    Spot-on!!!

And by the way, thank you for your service to this country!

  • Robert Shaftoe

Of course Austin would become the new West Berlin.

  • NecroFreak666

Yea, I guess the Germans are not at fault either for allowing a tyrant to exterminate millions of jews either…wake up, only U.S. boots on Mexican soil will make the Mexican Goverment change. The Mexican Goverment will not change anything because for one Mexico is a failed narco-terror state, why else would millions of illegals come here, duh? Not all Mexicans are bad, but the goverment that they have ALLOWED to exist is more corrupt than any of the middle-eastern states we have invaded. The Mexican people need this, we can exterminate there corrupt communist goverment and give them what we have. Yes soldiers will die on both sides but eventually U.S. will always prevail. You need to brush up on YOUR history…the U.S. intercepted that the Germans were preparing Mexico to invade the U.S., thats what brought us into WW1. Now the Mexican Goverment promotes illegal entry into the U.S. and has Mexican Military escorting drug cartels into the desert, that alone is pretext for war. Its just a matter of time buddy..and I hope your on the right side when it starts.

  • Robert Shaftoe

I’m already on the correct side and history will prove me right.

Ever hear of the White Rose Society ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rose ) in Germany during WWII? Those people hardly ALLOWED their government to become what it did.

Saying someone ALLOWED a tyrannical government to come into power would then be like saying I allowed G.W. Bush to come into power or you allowed Barack Obama (or whoever you did NOT vote for) to come into power.

Are we really going to bring World War 1 into this?

Unless this country goes TOTALLY fascist, your dream of us attacking Mexico isn’t going to happen.

On the other hand, if we got smart about the ‘War On (some) Drugs’, we’d take the profitability out of at least the cartels bringing (crappy) weed across the border.

Look at all the well-armed bootleggers during Prohibition who used to run rampant in THIS country, going up to Canada or down to Mexico (and elsewhere) to resupply. What happened to them when Prohibition ended? I’m not seeing a lot of gun battles over beer these days that’s for sure.

One final note: in prisons, even under total surveillance, zero privacy, and 24/7 guards and inspections, there are still drugs. Drugs are all over the prisons despite the police state in which they are exchanged and used. How far down the slippery slope of a police state do you suggest we allow ourselves to go before we realize we can’t control what people do to/with their own bodies/minds?

By the way, you want even MORE people fleeing across the border and actually obtaining ASYLUM because their country is too dangerous to live? Just go ahead and attack Mexico. If you want them to stay over there, you’re going to have to come up with a way to do it without causing them to want to come over here. Just look at every single time any country attacked another: THRONGS of people at the borders trying to get out of harm’s way.

How about we actually crack down SERIOUSLY on employers here who are hiring undocumented workers? After all, with the metaphor of the ‘drug war’ as an example, doesn’t it make more sense to go after the dealers than the users?

  • TheDevilCanDance

Hahaha, You must have nude pictures of Chuck Norris in your bedroom

  • NecroFreak666

Wow like its big surprise that the Mexican Government will not allow its own people to own fire-arms, probably because they know their own people would revolt against them because their government is so corrupt and worthless. American weapon sales to cartels is not the root of the problem, you think Russia and other countries have not sold weapons to the Mexicans? They will get them one way or another as criminals always do, if Mexicans had they chance to arm themselves they would revolt I am sure, just like they did under Spainish rule. Since the Mexicans cannot arm themselves thats even more justification for our soldiers to be there. Calderon begged Obama to take our weapons away because of this bs idea that disarming Americans would prevent Americans from selling to Mexico, yes I am sure he would love to see us weapon-less as his army escorts drugs into the U.S. and threaten U.S. farmers. Calderon is nothing but a puppet for the NWO, what kind of government would deny its citizens the right to bear arms and defend themselves against tyranny and corruption, lets see one that FEARS its own people? Well they wouldnt be afraid if they were not screwing their own people over would they.

  • NecroFreak666

Probably because cowards like you would run to Canada with your tail between your legs, your nothing but a parasite lol.

  • TheDevilCanDance

Oh boy, you are not very smart aren’t you?. I will give you one more try.
I am not a US citizen & I do not live in your beautiful country.
But yes, you are right about one point, my country of birth sucks so bad, that I spend a lot of time in Japan.

Don’t be such shorted minded individual, one day you might meet some gorgeous Latina & feel bad about what you wrote today :)

  • NecroFreak666

Japan, is a perfect example of what American Democracy can do for a radical brainwashed society…maybe Mexico should follow suite?

  • Anonymous

Yes it is, but why do that when he can blame Obama?

  • Wconell

Want to stop the drug trading and get rid of the drug cartels? Then Americans and anyone else in the US -STOP DOING DRUGS! The people buying drugs are the problem. assassinate them and the problem goes away. They are just as guilty for all of the violence and deaths of innocent people- it is on their shoulders!
Poison the drugs if you want to find them.
Pretty cold idea isn’t it? LOL.

[...] Do-Nothing Governor Rick Perry Complains About Others – After a single bullet believed to be from a gun battle in Mexico struck a building in El Paso, Texas Governor Rick Perry complained that “It’s time for Washington to stop the rhetoric and immediately deploy a significance force of personnel and resources to the border.” Perry did not mention that he (Perry) did nothing to stop this incident despite having the Texas Nation Guard at his disposal. I suggest that Perry use some of that spare time in his schedule to go to El Paso and stop those stray bullets. [...]
