Speaking of whistleblowers, I was just reminded about another person by the name of Kurt Sonnenfeld, who is currently in exile in Argentina. He worked for FEMA as a cameraman and was one of the 9/11 first responders. He apparently has several video tapes (physical evidence) in his possession of what he saw and filmed, which is why he had to flee the US. He is about to be extradited back to the US (which means he and his family will be in grave danger) so his story needs to be put out there everywhere. Here are some excerpts of an earlier interview with Mr. Sonnenfeld discussing his autobiography:

Rather it is a history of the extraordinary events that have happened to me and my family at the hands of U.S. authorities over the course of more than seven years, spanning two hemispheres, after my tour of duty at Ground Zero and becoming an inconvenient witness.”

It was odd to me that I was dispatched to go to New York even before the second plane hit the South Tower, while the media was still reporting only that a “small plane” had collided with the North Tower — far too small of a catastrophe at that point to involve FEMA . FEMA was mobilized within minutes, whereas it took ten days for it to deploy to New Orleans to respond to Hurricane Katrina, even with abundant advance warning! It was odd to me that all cameras were so fiercely prohibited within the secured perimeter of Ground Zero, that the entire area was declared a crime scene and yet the “evidence” within that crime scene was so rapidly removed and destroyed. And then it was very odd to me when I learned that FEMA and several other federal agencies had already moved into position at their command center at Pier 92 on September 10th, one day before the attacks!”

This puts me in mind of the FBI caper – concerning high-level government officials using off-shore Bahamian banking to hide their real income and wealth.

I think it was in the early 90′s (forgot now) when a couple of enterprising agents suckered a bank courier – enroute from the Bahamas.via Florida and carrying a locked briefcase with the names and associated bank numbers (maybe balances too), of the clients – into taking a break with a local hooker somewhere in Florida. While occupied, one of the agents got to the briefcase, picked the lock, and photographed the lists.

As best I remember, some hand-picked judge (Justice Dept. again) decided that the evidence was either illegally obtained or, some-such excuse, and the case disappeared from public view or discussion.

The circumstances surrounding the present case make Birkenfeld’s claims seem plausible and while his arrogance and insults to the Justice Department probably had something to do with its turning on him, his attitude should not have made any difference in their treatment of him.

Worse, the agreement with the Swiss government – not to get the added names, makes a lie of Obama’s pledge to get tough on off-shore tax dodgers. The next time someone suggests a VAT to pay off the enormous debts incurred to stimulate our way through the chaos caused by corrupt financiers, tell them to get if from the banks.
