The FBI said it searched eight homes in Minneapolis and Chicago as part of a terrorism investigation on Friday, and two subjects said the agency is targeting leaders of the anti-war movement.

FBI spokesman Steve Warfield told The Associated Press agents served six warrants in Minneapolis and two in Chicago. “These were search warrants only,” Warfield said. “We’re not anticipating any arrests at this time. They’re seeking evidence relating to activities concerning the material support of terrorism.”

The home of Minneapolis anti-war activists Mick Kelly and Jess Sundin were among those searched, they told the AP. “The FBI is harassing anti-war organizers and leaders, folks who opposed U.S. intervention in the Middle East and Latin America,” Kelly said before agents confiscated his cell phone. Sundin called the suggestion they were connected with terrorism “pretty hilarious and ridiculous.”

This is very disturbing. If you are against perpetual war you will be harrassed by the F.B.I.. Now why, I have to ask myself, would this be permitted by a president who recieved the Nobel Peace Prize?

Finally I have to believe it was a bogus award.

Unfortunately Obama hasn’t made nearly enough changes in several agencies, so there are a lot of embedded GOP loyalists that use their positions for political purposes, hence the trying to quash open organized dissent against right-wing policies, like war.

I bet the FBI isn’t raiding many Tea Party or NRA organizers’ homes.

Ron, the Nobel Peace Prize is a biased political vehicle and a fraud worth less than the toilet paper I use. You may well recall that the internationally renown terrorist, the deceased, Palestine Arafat also received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Shouldn’t you be investigating actual war criminals. It’s not like there is a shortage. It’s clear the FBI has either very poor management, probably a given, or way to much staff. Either way management needs to be reprimanded and staff reassigned to real work.

  • Anonymous

It is far more likely that the FBI who conducted these raids are the suspects linked to terrorism. Maybe the Chicago and Minneapolis anti-war groups weren’t interested in participating in an FBI informant induced terrorist attack?

What? There’s an “antiwar movement?” In Amerika? Really? Besides Code Pink, where exactly might a “movement” be? The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition and UFPJ shot each other dead in a famously insidious duel of titantic egos clashing. The collateral damage left the few remaining survivors confused and they drank the Obama Koolaid then collapsed in a deranged coma. Students For Democracy In Action lost their ‘student loans’ and joined the Joe ‘zionista’ Biden campaign for perpetual war as long as “we” don’t have to fight.
“Antiwar movement?” C’mon, what was the FBI REALLY searching for? Evidence of “pro Palestinian” involvement? Cause you know, the next flotilla to Gaza is gonna be sank on sight courtesy of the Israeli Pirate Navy with material support from the U.S. Navy providing “cover” for piracy on the International High Seas.
    Antiwar movement? Really?

This shows exactly how the masses are being treated under a NON Democratic Government. There is no Democracy if the political elite meet each year to make plans and none of it gets passed to congress or shown in the media. How on earth can the FBI consider anti-war activists connected with terrorism when ANTI-WAR is the same thing as PEACE. Terrorists do not want peace but anti-war activists want peace.
They are behaving exactly the same way children do when they are suspected of telling lies….the child tries to put the blame on their kid brother to take the suspicion away from themselves and that is exactly what the FBI/Bilderberg/Skull & Bones/Bohemian Grove/Council on Foreign Relations/United Nations are trying to do.
Aaron Russo when interviewed by Alex Jones, said that 11 months prioir to 911 Nicholas Rockefeller told him that they were planning on inventing a war on terror and sending their troops into Iraq. It has also surfaced that the minerals they claim to have recently discovered in Afghanistan they have known about since the 1970′s! Basically they are wanting the masses to pretend we don’t see their lies! It is absoltely ASTOUNDING how masterfully networked the Illuminati are and how they have got away with it!!!!!!!

I’m a Vietnam combat vet and a anti-war protestor. I worked to help end the Vietnam war and if I was a young person out there today I would be helping to end these illegal and pointless wars today. What you have to understand is that the FBI is a often a criminal organization in support of a government, ours, that is a fascist empire mascarading as a benign guardian of “morality” in the world. What our government actually is is a corporate controlled plutocracy dedicated to moving as much wealth from the masses to a handful of elite that have long controlled things.

Makes sense. The purpose of the war is to Keep America Secure From Terrorists ™. Anti-war actions including protests are therefore anti-American and could instill terror.

Nother way to look at it: If the war protesters were successful it would expose the dangers to American that are the war machine. Sure, that would be a good thing in the long run, but it could instill a lack of confidence, which means fear, and that says, “terror”. Ergo, they are terrorists.

When Nixon was in office, he used the FBI as his own private arm to harass his enemies. And Hoover himself use them to dig up dirt on those he did not like. Especially looking for homosexuals. Funny considering the fact he was one himself. The FBI also target peace groups during Vietnam.

The FBI began targeting anti-war activists when the war first started under Bush. And it sounds as if they are still at it. The new America is different. We consider wanting peace and demonstrating for peace to be anti-military and anti-American. We do little but war anymore. And if you suggest there might be a better alternative, say diplomacy etc. Then Fox network, or any on the right will invariably say you hate the troops.

It cannot be true of course that wanting to keep the military alive and out of illegal and unnecessary wars, means you want to bring them home or save lives. Those that appreciate war the most are those who not only never served but have no one they love is serving. It is much easier to send others to die. Welcome to third world America, where wars both secret and others are standard for us. As peace loving people are the enemy.

War allows some in our society to flex their muscle, verbally and to strut politically. But that part is easy. It costs them nothing. There has not been a reason for war since WW2. The tough work is finding peace. It is much easier to fire the gun, then to search out peace. I am not a pacifist. What I am is one who is fed up with war. The expenditure of lives, and money.

I see a bleak future for us. Our only commitment seems to be to war and chaos. It is an uphill fight to try and wrest peace, from the hands of those who see war as a first choice instead of a last one.

  • Schmice

This all started before Obama was even elected. Anybody remember THE PATRIOT ACT that was overwhelmingly passed and had popular support? As long as it was aimed at someone else people seemed to be okay with it despite the dire warnings that it would be turned on the rest of the nation. The road to hell is indeed paved with good intentions. Before all the right wingers start cheering that the left is in the government’s gunsights again, remember you’re next.

The short term solution being touted by many is to get rid of Holder. The real solutions iare to get rid of the Patriot Act, return to our civil liberties which have been deemed dispensable because we are at war and get us out of Afghanistan and Iraq before we further bled in terms of our soldiers’ blood and our national treasure.

If the Senate Republicans would do their jobs, they should have approved appointments and federal judge nominations, we wouldn’t be having this problem. Don’t forget when the Republicans were ramping-up the two current unfunded wars, they were also voting successfully for reducing veteran benefits at the same time. That was a first in US history. And they dind’t just cut the VA once, they did it twice. (defunding) Yeah, the GOP really supports the troops, bullshit.

I was always amazed that the MSM didn’t point out the context or the contradictions.

After their no-bid contracts to their friends at many times the normal cost, & cutting Vet benefits, while creating huge deficits, & then giving tax cuts to the rich, which is just off the top of my head, why does any rational person want to defend these failed & corrupt Republican policies?

Has disinformation propaganda taken over US politics?

Are facts no longer important to voters?

“…They’re seeking evidence relating to activities concerning the material support of terrorism.”

And they need look no further than their own agency to find it. Look at the way they helped in the cover up of the crimes of 9-11

What they’re doing here is pure intimidation, nothing else. They don’t want what is now widely known to be the illegal invasions/occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan to be universally denounced and protested the way Vietnam was. They want to scare people into staying home and keeping their big mouths shut. Media has been directed to report the raids so everyone will know — protest the war and we might just come and turn your house upside down.

What this tells us, as if we didn’t already know, is that our Zionist shadow government has no intention of ever allowing our troops to come back home.

That CANNOT be argued.

But obviously, it also cannot be proven that these policies are not simply being continued by the current President.

It makes no sense to jump to the conclusion of the latter, without taking into consideriation the very real possibility of the former.

I think the reporter meant to say the Republican national convention in St. Paul two years ago. Not the Democratic National Convention.

St. Paul was filled to the brim with storm-troopers from all over the country… In fact, the Republicans might have just been there to cheer for the National storm-troopers on growth hormone convention.

This kind of stuff is exactly why many Minneapolis residents don’t want the Democratic convention here. Learning people are still on lists and being harassed after two years might make some think the US has a chill on political activists who aren’t throwing millions of dollars at politicians, like the “people” protected under the “Citizens United” ruling.

Kinda hard to see “Change” when it is the same cabal that chooses the candidates that is running “The Agenda” and for years now, nothing has stood in its way.

I saw him do and say some bad things like when he voted to amend FISA–heck, he probably voted for the patriot act and/or one of its successors–or when he said the Afghan war was the Good War or when he announced Hillary for Sec of State or when he announced the day after his election that he was keeping Gates, Petreaus and Mullen, I knew things were bad, but I never thought he would be as bad as Bush.

What’s funniest of all is that I was one of those people who told everyone willing to listen that we cannot give Obama time because I knew it was actually the opposite and the first 100 days were crucial (ask any historian) and I hate to be the one to say I told you but look where it’s gotten us. In fact, there are still people urging us to give him more time; they are the same ones who today say it has only been 20 months. The truth is Obama should impart a lesson to all those who voted for him: demand criminal prosecutions of our politicians and corporate officers. Let’s send them to prison and strip them of their fortunes.

I liked what you said Leo but the truth is probably that America has been a police state (or rather a military dictatorship) long before 9/11, at least since Reagan with his Contra rebels but probably the truth is closer to America has been a fascist state since at least since the end of WW 2, however, I’d then be leaving out the whole 19th century when the government always protected the rich from the poor; and don’t forget slavery was a government sanctioned policy.

Obama runs nothing. America is owned by Wall Street. Soldiers don’t fight and die and kill for America. They fight and die and kill for Wall Street. Wall Street owns the CIA, the FBI and the Pentagon. You cannot even vote the bastards out because they were never elected in the first place. Meanwhile you have pretend elections run on fake voting machines owned by Wall Street that elect powerless dupes and idiots into meaningless positions of powerlessness.

But, try posting on a conservative site some liberal viewpoints and they get censored in a flash and then you’re banned from said site.

Saying Boosh was a good president is like saying drinking poison is good for your health. Shrub and his cronies not only fucked up this country, they spit on the flag and the constitution, they peed on our heads and told us it was raining, they raided the federal reserve, they killed innocent civilians and US soldiers (yes, innocent US soldiers were sent to war based on lies when Iraq posed no threat to America), they laughed at homeless vets, they outed CIA agents (treason), if you wore a t-shirt that was negative against Dubya and/or Cheney, you were either arrested or told to remove the shirt anywhere you were, even in airports. You weren’t allowed to demonstrate anywhere near McMonkey, you had to be in the next block over.

I mean it went on and on and on and on… We’re in worst shape now as a country than we have ever been in my lifetime (I was born in the mid-fifties) because of an idiot that thought he was a dictator.

Ever since the Civil Rights and Vietnam War Protests the real power players in the United States have been taking notes and consolidating, much like our International Corporations. I am in my early 50s and remember the impact of the 60s was a profound cynicism and there was less intertwining of Media and Corporate/political tentacles. This story of Raids on Anti-War Groups is no surprise, but it does break my heart along with each step from the moment the 9/11 event happened. I agree with others on this board that the current President is beholden to the Power Interests, who could care less about Labels, as long as our Government remains in their pocket!!!!!!

  • Eyeball_Kid

What? You’re asking for Justice? I think it’s more important to note what the DOJ DOESN’T do that what it does. This “looking forward” theme is utter BS. “Looking forward” meant that Obama made a deal: Hands off the Bush crime family. If you go after them, they’ll go after you.

  • Eyeball_Kid

There’s a false premise here for making Obama into a victim. Just as Bush reclassified some positions as permanent, Obama can reverse those decisions by using the same executive powers that Bush used. He hasn’t. And he hasn’t fired a slew of federal prosecutors who truly deserved to be fired.

Obama said that he’s not perfect, that he’ll make mistakes along the way. He didn’t say that he wouldn’t correct those mistakes.

It doesn’t matter who is in power. The history of the United States has always attacked dissenters of war.

Woodrow Wilson campaigned as a pacifist and won. He then flip flopped, hired a Public Relation firm to change the publics attitude about war. The firm did to the Kaiser what the modern firm did to Saddam which is painted this picture of evil dictators eating babies. Many American Germans were put into prison because these Germans saw through the public relation bs. These Germans not long ago were pardoned even though they are all dead.

In WWII the problem of desertion was so bad that the government changed the rules a drafted ex-cons. One of these ex-cons known as Private Slovak did what everyone else did but unlike anyone else he was put before the firing squad. A dark chapter in the history of the United States. note: Historian Howard Zinn confessed he was duped by the real nature of WWII.

After WWII the problem of recruitment was so bad that the only way to get men for the military during the peace time was to continue the draft. This is where Vietnam became even more interesting that the disserters of WWII. Vietnam was unique in that rather than dissertion there was anti-war rhetoric being spoken out loud by the very soldiers themselves. That’s right an anti-war movement within the military. note: the reason the weathermen were never prosecuted was because they broke into an FBI office and found evidence of the FBI spying on the anti-war movements.

Also note two wars during the fifties just before Vietnam. A Public Relation firm was hired by the White House to convince the people that our military was needed in Guatemala. The firm lied by claiming we need to fight the communists in Guatemala. The real reason was the country wanted their banana plantation back. A private company from the United States claimed to own 80 per cent of Guatemala’s banana plantation and the United States used the military to protect that private companies interest from and otherwise soverign country which had the right to those plantations.

And just before Vietnam was the Korean War. Millions of innocent people were killed in villages for no other reason than the fact they live in Korea. There deaths was senseless.

Ho Chi Mihnn had every right to kick out the French colonist just as the Algerians had kicked out the French in the 1960′s. President Johnson lied this nation into a war in Vietnam. Again it was a war of choice and not a war of defense.

Reagan murdered thousands in Nicaragua. Again an agression of choice and had nothing to do with defense.

Gulf I was also bs. Gilipse lied. She claimed Saddam never told her about a possible conflict with Kuwait. A tape released to the NY times proved otherwise. Instead of using diplomacy to clear up the communication problem, Dick Cheney, yes that’s right our own Darth Vader stopped all diplomatic effort and sought immediate military conflict against U.N guide lines. The Prince of Kuwait hired an American Public Relation firm to do a smear job on Saddam, see WWI above.

Gulf II needs no explanation, we were without doubt lied into a war of choice there.

In all the cases above war protestors has been damaged our Government via being imprisoned or having their reputation tarnished. In all cases the protests never changed the policies. In all cases the protesters turned out to on the right side of the argument.

This indicates that the expectation is that the republicans will be in office soon. Just as the Democrats used socialism toward a globalist agenda, Republicans will use fear and war.

Every US president recently has been villified, for good reason. The next one will be the worst, I believe. They are simply getting ready for an anti-war backlash to a republican war president. Again. But this time it will be more intense than Bush, if that is possible.

I hope we get an anti-globalist instead. But that goes to back to the fight between the anti war conservatives and the war conservatives, that is raging now, and why that fight is important. Some on the right are planning for another Cheneyland.

“Just as the Democrats used socialism toward a globalist agenda” — riight, like massive bailouts for Wall Street and a continuation of corporate control of policy making on everything from defense to health care (yes, health care — remember, we specifically didn’t get single payer health because our happy Socalist-in-Chief gave that one away to big pharma/big insurance before negotiations even started). That’s just so very, very socialist.

All social programs are structured to collapse upon themselves. Overtime, the quality of “service” drops, but a greater and greater amount of tax revenue is shifted to the ultra elite as you attempt to pay down the debt associated with those programs.

Social security revenues are directly transfered to Wall Street, and the so called “trust fund” is filled with even more debt owed to Wall Street. Its no accident that the biggest supporters of “socialism” are the biggest Wall Street banks, such as JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs.

The social program is just a front designed to get you to agree to higher or new taxes that can be eventually directed right into the pockets of the ultra elite.

SR, I do not disagree with you. Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme but the Boomers have watched their nest egg vanish and more and more of them will place demands on the system. The 401K’s and IRA’s that they put their money into were Ponzi Schemes as well and now that their homes are quickly becoming worthless, they are starting to howl.

Before TSHTF on a national level, we’ll see it as States default on their pension obligations. California, where I live, has a $500 Billion Pension Obligation. How on Earth are we to pay for that? Within a few short years, pensions and education will eat up 97% of our state budget and that doesn’t leave much money for anything else.

As far as I can tell, more and more people are dropping out of the “formal” economy. Cash and Barter are becoming quite common as everyone from mechanics to tattoo artists are moving underground. I do not blame them. Why should they shoulder the burden of all these debts that these boomers created. Why should I pay so much as a penny so that these guys can have million dollar pensions. It just isn’t going to happen.

The loss of these social programs will hurt the people that are least able to cope. The old will have it tough but the teens and twenty somethings have it the worst as they have no education or experience to deal with the hustle that is to come. They will follow whatever Pied Piper promises them a return to a cubicle job, endless internet porn and 60′ LCD TV’s.

You cannot go head to head with leviathan and expect to survive, much less win, at least not in open combat. There are two things this monster we live under needs to survive: First and above all, it needs legitimacy. Second, it needs your capital.

If you want to deprive it of legitimacy you must openly and loudly declare your disenfranchisement. Every vote where you held your nose, every election when you didn’t CLOSELY watch who was cutting the election campaign checks and avoid the corporate hookers, you gave legitimacy to this leviathan of corporate war.

Every PENNY you spent that you didn’t have to, every red cent of taxes you paid, if you lived anything other than a truly simple life, you provided the very life blood of leviathan towards your own enslavement.

The entire left/right system is nothing more than a hegelian dialectic.

If you want out it is simply a matter of not paying your jailers, of not taking their “perks” in exchange for your Liberty and dignity.. Most of you are nothing but rat snitches, and have absolutely no idea how to be anything else. You cannot fathom life outside of the machine you power with your self induced slavery. You sit in your air conditioned car, sucking down your corporate latte, engorging your lard-laden ass with your corporate processed food, screaming to yourself “I MADE IT!!! I MADE IT!!”, “USA!! USA!!!”, “MY THINGS MAKE ME SOOOO HAPPY!!!”… Do they? Does all that plastic junk really make you happy and whole?

I run a sheep farm. I feed my family with our garden, chickens, wild game. I come into town from time to time, much like a recovering alcoholic will occasionally pass through skid row to tell themselves “but for the grace of God go I..”… I bring my laptop, log on a free wi-fi and launch these little digital messages in a bottle. I trade my extra food (fresh lamb, chicken, eggs and various vegetables, whatever I happen to bring in.) to baristas for never-ending cups of americanos. The are happy for the safe noncorporate food their otherwise meager pay could ill-afford, and I get my unsustainable coffee without feeding the beast.. I’ve set up many other similar arrangements for my other “system” needs. Plenty of people are guardians of things you want and need who will gladly negotiate a reasonable deal.. Disengaging leviathan hardly means “going without”.. In fact, I now get far more for far less…

I got out, so can you. Good luck, be free.

I think more people should engage in barter, as it cuts out both of our troublesome middlemen– the Fed Reserve, and the IRS. But the IRS goes out of its way to make barter impossible by forcing all trades to settle in FRN’s for tax purposes.

People barter because the currency system is failed in one way or another. But then the government steps in and says you must use the currency system, or [they] will come to your house, kick your door in, flash badges and guns at you, and scare your kids.

Americans must demand the freedom they like to claim they have. Rather than let the system sink us all, we can seize our freedom from those who would take it, and once again breathe life into the American Dream.

Well, in polls, the MAJORITY of Americans dislike BOTH parties. The MAJORITY of Americans want a third party.

What we need to overcome is the mainstream media – it is they who most strongly influence the general public and in 2008 were no different, convincing people that Obama, Clinton and McCain were the only viable choices.

The treatment of Ron Paul by the MSM made that quite clear to me. The MSM is an important part of the CFR and are just another arm of the Rockefella/Rothschild/etc power game.

Obama and Holder have no respect for the Constitution nor did Clinton and Reno. You are a reactionary idiot who doesn’t care for facts unless they support your distorted point of view. Your ilk are the responsible for the current state of affairs. You need to look at all the information and misinformation, attempt to discern which is which, and the draw a conclusion. But you won’t attempt that because it would be too time consuming and you would have to think. You would rather believe the spin put on the news by the left leaning media who won’t even report news if it is contrary to their point of view. Lincoln shut down newspapers that printed editorials or factual account that were contrary to what he approved and Obama tried to discredit Fox News because they wouldn’t give him carte blanche.

The globalists are all about corporate control. The Dems don’t understand what Obama and his people are really all about. Global control by banks and unified, worldwide governments.

You have to remember that, with the bailouts, the government GOT A LOT IN RETURN FROM THESE CORPORATIONS, including total control over them if this should ever happen again, without even going to Washington for a vote. Increased paperwork and much, much more control over them.

The socialism, or the STATE, enters into it, because they can FORCE you to do what the corporations say, and back it up with the police or lethal force, if necessary. That is why government unity with corporations is so dangerous.

This government wants CONTROL over these companies, without having to require them to do anything for the public good.

The government, in health care, will HAVE THE POWER, to do a lot of things that the private insurance companies could not. Require someone buy a policy. Dictate the course of treatment. Eliminate vitamins and natural healing doctors. Force vaccines that sicken kids. Refuse to admit dangerous GMO and poisons and refusal to label it.

Polls said that over 70% wanted a public option. The government that Obama wants USES social concerns to feed the globalist system. It’s not to do anything really GOOD.

The private insurance companies have a completely un-sustainable business model and Obama knows it. But he still will not do anything to take profits from the banks and ins co’s. That is why the O’Donnell race is so nasty. Delaware is the capital of out-of-control banks with state legislation given to them by Santa Claus on Christmas.

Obama is a real socialist about the same way Hitler was.

Remember though that whether or not the plane was intentionally on Auto-Pilot has NOT yet been confirmed by the Flight Data Recorder (Black Box) and this is only the result of the "preliminary" investigation which to me sounds like the "Auto-Pilot switch" could possibly have been OFF while the plane was flying but then jarred into the ON (engaged) position at the time of impact and this is what investigators observed during that preliminary investigation of the crashed plane’s cockpit controls and switches.

Oh boy! It’s like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, just like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pictures to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is good blog post. A good read. I will certainly revisit again.

It’s a peculiarly Western trait to prefer to tie items up in neat bundles. We favor alternatives to difficulties, and solutions to questions. Being artistic, you need to have that can be comfy with factors that tend not to fit. The Eastern tradition is much more in tune with incongruence.
