Republicans won back control of the House of Representatives in Tuesday’s midterms but Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart wants to make sure the right organization gets the credit.

In an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace Wednesday, Stewart complimented Chris Wallace and his team at the network on for their big win.

“Congratulations to you,” Stewart told Wallace. “You guys did it. You worked hard and you pulled it off.”

“You mean the fact that we had the highest ratings and more ratings than CNN and MSNBC combined?” Wallace wondered.

“No. No. No. No. Retaking control of the House of Representatives,” Stewart joked. “You did it. It’s not an easy job.”

“You’re talking about the Republican Party and I’m talking about Fox News,” Wallace said. “Two completely distinct operations.”

But Wallace did have an idea about how Fox News could co-opt the RNC. “We are thinking of doing — because so many of them work at Fox now as Fox News contributors. We’re thinking of a 13 week series like American Idol or Dancing with the Stars: The GOP Presidential Primary,” Wallace suggested.

Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum are four Republican presidential contenders that work as contributors for Fox News.

“That’s such a good idea,” Stewart agreed.

“And then we’ll have a special called The Republican Convention,” Wallace continued. “And then we’re planning for the inauguration as well.”

“Fox has their programming lined up for the next two years,” Stewart said.

“No. No. No. Actually the next ten,” Wallace said hopefully.

Wallace may be joking but part of his idea has become reality. In a new special, host Bret Baire will profile 12 top potential GOP candidates in 12 days. The network has landed interviews with 11 of the of the 12.
