Former First Lady Barbara Bush knows exactly where she wants Sarah Palin: Back home in Alaska.

The wife of President George H.W. Bush has long been known for her witty quotes, and the one she tossed out at Larry King during an interview for CNN may be an instant classic.

“What’s your read about Sarah Palin?” King asked the former first lady.

“I sat next to her once, thought she was beautiful, and I think she’s very happy in Alaska,” Bush said. “And I hope she’ll stay there.”

In the interview set for broadcast Monday, Barbara Bush’s husband didn’t come off as much of a tea party fan either.

Asked what he thought of the movement, George H.W. Bush said, “Well I don’t know what it really is, Larry. Some of the ideas make a lot of sense. But how it fits in…In the paper today they were talking about what the tea party would do to get the Republicans in Congress to do something. [I don't know] if these people were all elected by the tea party or not. I’m confused by it, frankly.”

The former president added, “But it’s alright.”

Barbara Bush has always had a flare for straight talk. Of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, she said, “Clinton lied. A man might forget where he parks or where he lives, but he never forgets oral sex, no matter how bad it is.”

After her husband’s electoral defeat in 1992, she said, “One thing I can say about George … he may not be able to keep a job, but he’s not boring.”
