‘Simpsons’ invents new Fox News motto: ‘#1 with racists’

In the world of The Simpsons, Fox News’ well-known “fair and balanced” motto has been replaced.

On Sunday’s episode of the long-running cartoon series, a Fox News helicopter carrying a network executive reads, “Fox News: Not Racists, But #1 With Racists.”

After the Fox News executive steps out of the helicopter into the head of the Statue of Liberty, the aircraft goes into a tailspin and crashes. The pilot can be heard saying, “It’s not fair, we’re unbalanced.”

The executive conducts a secret meeting where his team plans a new health care scare that will send their ratings through the roof.

Gawker calls The Simpsons episode one of the most anti-Republican ever.

At one point in the episode, the likeness of former Vice President Dick Cheney laments the lack of terrorist attacks on America.

The creators of the popular television show may cause for concern. Just last week, a Fox News anchor effectively said that all Hispanics were illegal aliens.

The anchor, Trace Gallagher, claimed that a new study has shown 100,000 illegal aliens have left Arizona since the passage of a draconian new law, SB 1070, that allows police to check the immigration status of anyone they pull over.

“The way they got the numbers is they crunched them using the current US population survey and then they had numbers from the Mexican government, is what they came up with, is that 100,000 illegals have left Arizona — there are 100,000 illegals fewer before SB 1070 was ever talked about,” Gallagher said.

Only that’s not what the study says. The study actually says that the immigration law in Arizona has likely provoked the voluntary departure of 100,000 Hispanics from the southern US state.

This video is from Fox’s The Simpsons, broadcast Nov. 21, 2010.

Auto travel is risky, there are over 40 thousand deaths each year due to highway accidents, and yet most take the gamble. Even if there were 40 thousand air passenger deaths each year travelers will continue to fly. Living in fear is not living at all, when airline terrorists see they have not stopped traffic no matter how hard they have tried, the battle against airline terrorism will be won.

25 years ago an entity could own 5 AM, 5 FM, and 5 television stations and none of them in the same city in which they own a newspaper. Some exceptions were grandfathered in years earlier but that was the lay of the land. Under Clinton those numbers went up to 80, 80, and 80. When Collin Powell’s kid ran (amok) the FCC, he tried to up it so that a single entity could not own more than 45% coverage of the entire county. Not sure of the exact number now but I think it’s around 30%. It’s true insanity and another justification to turn off the tube, or flat panel, take your pick. And you are right, the official jargon is that broadcasters are to operate in the public interest, convenience, and necessity. Now it’s for the corporate interest, convenience, and necessity. Besides turning the damn televisions and radios off, we should start challenging station licenses, which come up for renewal every seven years. When was the last time one of these leach operations were denied a renewal? Probably never. Maybe we should start.

You people do not understand how this thing works: the MSM, both the left and right wings of the MSM, are charged with the job of maintaining, exacerbating, provoking, disseminating, inflaming the two party system that covers and obscures the reality that we are ruled by one party.

This one party does the bidding of the hyper-wealthy elite who run the global economy via the global banking cartel. Both Democrats and Republicans work for the one party. Keeping you left wingers and right wingers constantly insulting one another and fighting over table scraps allows the one party and its Democlican/Republicat representatives to do their treason while
    you are distracted.

Wake up fools! Get a grip on reality! Forget reality TV shows – authenticate reality is the nightmare you live under and refuse to see.

I quote myself from another comment: “[B]oth parties are corrupt, both parties are bought and paid for by greedy, self-serving, unethical people willing to do evil for power and profit -

You, sir, are amusing. Amusing in the same way that I find it amusing to watch a dog run into a glass door because he can’t tell it’s solid.

Let me put it this way: Fox News, along with the entirety of the Republican party (yes, I mean both the voter base AND the elected representatives who self-identify as Republican), is nothing more but a gigantic steaming pile of ignorance, racism, and religious bullshit, mixed in with a humongous dose of fear-mongering the likes of which would make them heroes in Al Qaeda if they simply swapped all their negatives into positives.

That is to say, Fox News is so good at producing fear in America, and the GOP is so good at perpetuating that fear, if they switched sides and supported the terrorists they would be heroes (of Al Qaeda).

As for you Republican idiots ever gaining control of this nation again: forget it. I’ll personally lead the armed revolt and kill every single Republican that puts them in the majority if I have to, because I will NOT let America turn into a third-world shithole under Conservative policies which history has shown NEVER work. I simply won’t allow that to happen. I don’t care about your rights, I care about this country. You have a right to be a complete asshat that knows absolutely nothing about macro-economics, social equality, or even penal law, but is that REALLY a right you want to exercise? I’ll answer for you: no. No it is not a right you will exercise in my country. Not any longer. I won’t have idiots like you giving truckloads of money to the rich and expecting them to spend it on you willingly, or going to war with another nation just because it has a different way of running itself, or continuing to treat Russia like the U.S.S.R. from the Cold War (which ENDED, by the way), because all of those things that the conservatives have been responsible for have done nothing but harm this nation.

You disrespect our Constitution, our Founding Fathers, and the rest of the planet, and you think it’s okay because you all know the Bible better. You start wars that don’t end (or that we lose), and you screw over the little man in favor of the big business (even though you ARE the little man). It’s enough! We’re through having you jackasses running the show, because you can’t do it properly.

So go ahead, argue macro-economic theory with me, I would LOVE to make a fool out of another Republican. Argue about the social equality this nation has and doesn’t have, and whether we should fight for it or not. Argue about the legitimacy of war, especially the latest two wars. Hell, argue about how Red is a better color than Blue for all I care (I don’t care). Just try and say something, anything, that doesn’t sound like a regurgitated ball of idiocy and crap, so that I can verbally cock-punch you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Big.Al.Frazier Allan Frazier

Problem is that we tend to think the FCC has power over FOX. Not in reality. FOX is a Cable News Channel. In this case, the FCC has NO dominion over cable communications. They only can control broadcast communications which used to be the majority. With he wiring of America has come the cable industry which has gained enough wealth to buy anything they want, including the people in government. Cable communications in now how the majority of people get their news/entertainment fix. Now that broadcast has been forced to go to digital, it’s about useless to everyone but mountain folk.

Its really sloppy form to just assert things before you know whether they’re actually, factually true or not. If you’d have taken the time to check, you’d have discovered that the FCC has asserted regulatory authority over cable since 1962.

It is somehow seemingly appropriate that the Simpsons, a television cartoon series, is taking on the Fox Cartoon News Network.

The one difference is that the Simpsons has excellent writers with great senses of humor, while the Fox Cartoon News Network is a really sick joke being played on American citizens, a never-ending sick joke running 24/7, filled with lies and racism and deceitful Republican talking points, as if Fox Cartoon News Network is just a clone of some Soviet era propaganda outlet in the old Soviet Union or even Nazi era propaganda outlet in Nazi Germany.

I enjoyed your post Allan. As far as the FCC’s control over Fox, in literal terms, you’re right. However, the FCC controls not just the broadcast spectrum of television/radio transmission but also satellite transmissions, which is how Fox, and pretty much everyone else, sends out their wares. That’s why Jon Stewart has to be bleeped. It’s an issue of control over all transmission spectrum (and its content) and isn’t confined to terrestrial broadcasts. And you’re so right about the wiring (and unwiring) of America and the world. Things that used to be wired (telephone, teletype, wire reporting services) are now unwired and formerly unwired services (television) are now wired – albeit with a new swing toward becoming unwired again through WiMax/WiFi/3G/digital broadcasts.

I had a twinge of that same fear myself last night after watching Olbermann’s first segment. There seemed to be no trace of doubt on Keith’s part that the Christmas Day Bomber was anything but a true al Qaeda threat, quoting Obama as saying the aggressive security measures being used “are the only ones right now that they consider to be effective against the kind of threat that we saw in the Christmas Day bombing”. The interview was with NBC News terrorism analyst Roger Cressey, who says “we are dealing with a security versus privacy threat right now that is the toughest we’ve had since 9/11 I believe, and we’re trying to find where that comfortable middle ground is. And so far TSA and the American public has stumbled a little bit in finding that middle ground.”

Knowing as I do that the Abumutallab stunt was entirely toothless, the underpants PETN having no detonator, the dazed patsy showing no pain or awareness as his crotch was being burned severely, a dude videoing not only the fire but the whole flight from his seat, standing up at the moment of fire, the well-dressed East Indian man with the US accent using high up credentials to get Mutallab on the flight with no passport — all this happening on Christmas Day when no politician was within driving distance of a microphone to make any kind of rebuttal — the absolutely ideal demagogic exercise. My heart sank to hear this corporate shill Cressey spouting all this window dressing and Keith seeming to go along with it.

Then, being by then too lethargic to shut the stream window, I continued watching the second segment: the correspondent for the Atlantic Jeffrey Goldberg, who makes the point that, if there is a bomber trying to get on the plane, he/she could do just as much damage by blowing up in the line with hundreds of people tightly packed around. Short of coming out and saying the whole thing is bogus, which would cause Keith to lose a valuable platform inside the enemy’s camp, this is as close as one can get to declaring that we are being led through charades to mind control us, and the real threats are not from any shadowy foreign terror, but from the Military Industrial Complex AND our own stupidity.

Many regular posters on this site believe or strongly suspect that 9/11 was a false flag attack.

But organized medicine? The CDC, the NIH, the FDA, the pharmaceutical industry? Could they be hyping or outright inventing diseases just so they can sell vaccines and pills? Could they be promoting phony preventative measures that actually harm our health, just so that they can make profits? Could they even be suppressing promising cancer cures so the cancer industry can continue to make its billion dollar profits?

You think your tea bagger congressmen will rock the boat? Good luck with that. They’ve already sold out on earmarks.

So then you agree that Obama’s a one term loser then too good!

Barak Obama’s dog Bo knows more about economics than you do, Tristee. He knows that “trickle down” works and “tricklle up” doesn’t. He proved that when he took a leak on Joe Biden’s leg the last time he was as the White House. (at the white house)

For welfare and food stamps?? Ask Tristan. He’s an expert at being on the governent doll.

Wow you sure put out a lot of bull shit. You could say half of what you just did and people would still know you are an idiot, tristee. LOL

Well I guess we’ll all see in Nov of ’12 won’t we leo? And it’s not looking too good for the president that campaigned for many and got most of his party’s incombents defeated. He couldn’t even win his old senate seat for his party! LOFLMAO

So the best Keith can do is have on two total shills/tools (I assume Goldberg was being an idiot; he’s one of the worst wingnut Israel-firsters out there), and then make a oblique suggestion that the whole thing’s a farce?
That’s what passes for progressivism in the MSM–hand signals and dog whistles.

No, bonehead, elites doesn’t mean educated, it means in power. And stop playing jaded about class warfare, and no one’s ranting about socialism.
To sum up, don’t drink and type. And that photo makes you or your avatar look like a douchbag.

The only poor writer I see on this thread is nipplewrench, and he’s as wingnut as they come. But this is a prime example of the wingnut “complain about something without evidence” thing. A wingnut will bitch about the imaginary.

  • Anonymous

truth is most are good writers, but when the typing gets fast and furious the typos and gramatical errors abound.

I have a question of your use of “wingnut”. Wingnuts were used on old british sports cars to hold each wire wheel on and they worked very well. They are a very strong fastener and very efficient. Can’t figuer out the insult value of using that word. unless it’s short for “right wing nut”. Is that your meaning? If so, remember one thing, they’re on both sides of the car. LOL

    the definition of elite:
A group or class of persons or a member of such a group or class, enjoying superior intellectual, social, or economic status.

Did you notice the word “intellectual” somewhere in there, moron

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alan-Flatt/764419858 Alan Flatt

Actually, I’m not that educated-even thought I have a doctorate; listen my moronic friend- texting is a way to communicate- which I do many times a day with my adult kids and many others. We are trying to create understanding-spelling is of overriding importance if one is in a spelling bee. Your anal compulsion for grammar in texting is hilarious. Jamie11 is using the tea bagger mantra of “elites” [how're the quotes doing?] is a disingenuous way. Elites by definition are also educated people..Is that clear?

So you are proud of the destruction your republicans have done to our nation.
Gee you mean that republican’s job is to destroy our nation.

Actually, wing-nuts are just like ordinary nuts but with extensions (“wings”) that provide the advantage of extra leverage so they can be tightened by hand, instead of requiring a spanner. Now I’m not saying right wing “wing-nuts” are hand-jobs, of course, just that they can be manipulated far more easily ;)

When the elites tell the truth, of course it has to be at the expense of making fun of and ridiculing the poor/middle class American public. Because that is what they do. Any more proof needed that they are on some sick stuff?!

After seeing this episode, the ‘conspiracy theories’ surrounding Homer vs NY episode just might’ve been on to something.

What the hell is “governent doll”? And why do you “Laugh Out Loud” at your own lame “jokes”? And before you call other people “idiot” or “stupid”, you should at least LEARN TO SPELL at a sixth-grade level.
Now, go re-inflate that governent doll and impress her with your wit and intelligence…..

  • Anonymous

Alan, you have proven my point – you have reacted unthinkingly, automatically, calling me demeaning names instead of responding rationally to my statements. You have supplied your own meaning to my words, supplanting mine, thereby setting up the justification that allows you to demean me. That hardly qualifies as rationale argument.

If that is what education has done for you, I deplore that education and would quite accurately call it brainwashing, which true education is not. People of high intelligence AND high ethical motivation are often able to survive and overcome the brainwashing some call education. High intelligence is not requisite though. There are people of good will, of generous heart, who may not be head smart and yet intuitively know what is going on is wrong and don’t accept it. You, apparently, are among neither group.

As well, you missed the point I made regarding socialism. I am distrustful of government managed socialism. And more so knowing the depths of corruption our MIC government has dragged us into.

In Sweden, government managed socialism has worked with little overt complaint until recently. During the span of Swedish socialism’s success Sweden was comprised of a homogeneous population and the government was responsive to the will of the people (unlike our government) as one would expect in a well-functioning democracy. Things are not so rosy now, now that Africans and Muslims have immigrated en masse to Sweden, drawn by its generous welfare programs.

As for socialism from the bottom up, from the people themselves, in order to benefit themselves and their communities, THAT socialism is an excellent way to provide for the needs of the community through cooperatives owned by their own members, much as credit unions are, much as the Health Partners cooperative in Minneapolis is which has served the community since 1957 without government assistance.

The state owned Bank of North Dakota is owned by the people of North Dakota.
It is solvent as are most, if not all, the credit unions in the US. Every state should have its own state bank, owned by and answerable to the people, and importantly independent of the corrupt Federal Reserve too.

To solve our problems and provide reasonably for our needs without government
would first require that enough people understand how the corrupt government and illegal money system work. That is the task many of us independents and free thinkers have embarked on.

What works in Sweden and the countries you have lived Alan will not work in the US for obvious reasons. Our officials do not fear us adequately. We have been under-educated and over-manipulated into giving up our own freedom and concomitant responsibility to care for ourselves and our families, and to assist our friends and neighbors when that is necessary and appropriate. Appealing to our natural sense of compassion and humanity the government coerces us to give it our money so that the poor will be cared for. But the care given by our government is demeaning. It produces deepening generational poverty and insidious moral degradation.

The Wars on poverty, on drugs, on fascist communism, on terror, are failures all. You would do well to educate yourself as to what the real effects are of these wars, and whose interests are served by maintaining them, senseless and counterproductive as they are.

And while you’re at it, do check out how our money system has been taken over by a private banking cartel that is ripping all of us off – read about it here

And once you’ve done that you not only know what is meant in current parlance by the word “elites” you will also understand why this is happening, “Corporate America has best quarter in US history as real unemployment rate soars.”

How about you sign up for the military, rlau, since you claim to be such a wonderfully intelligent patriot. I would LOVE for you to DIE in service to our country. It would be the most useful thing you’d ever do in your worthless little life.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tristan-Caley/1025333500 Tristan Caley

Personally I’m against vaccination and fluoridation for completely sane reasons. Vaccination simply allows those who would otherwise die of disease, because they lack the genetic ability to fight it off, to live. It creates a weakened gene pool, much like modern society does with genetic diseases by allowing and encouraging people who have them to procreate. It’s simply not good for the species, no matter how fair it might be.

As for Fluoridation, I feel that it needs to stop being done by the water companies because it affects our environment in adverse ways. If people want fluoride in their water they should be able to buy something that injects it into drinking water, and there should be a filtration system on the drainage from their home that removes as much of it as possible.

you make some good points with which I mostly agree; however the mis use of the word “elites”. ascribing its current connotation to common parlance is nice–but I am using the denotation of the word. That is the correct use regardless of common parlance. The right wing uses it as a perjorative—like why should someone with an education about a subject make a policy decision. That is absurd. I now live in Berkeley and we have many socialist institutions. It is not based on fear.

  • Jaimie

I cannot help but wonder if you have been subtly and manipulatively deceived. You’ve read Bernays’ “Propaganda” no doubt. But have you considered the purpose of such controlled discussions as these on both the left and right MSM, that your response of alarm and restored faith is exactly what was intended.

As any intelligent primate knows, all things under the sun can be used for good and for evil – it is up to the user to make the choice. What if good and evil are employed at the same time? Is that akin to Griffin’s observation that esoteric and exoteric meanings in Sunstein’s essay?

Let’s say the exoteric meaning in the interview was to arouse and assuage your fears, and the esoteric meaning was to minimize your fears without actually addressing and correcting the condition that aroused them. That is manipulation, no, and deceit?

  • http://proudprimate.com Anonymous

A conceivable but not a necessary analysis. Equally plausible — more, from where I sit — is to say:

Exoteric — the official line, that all these security measures are necessary, but perhaps not conducted in an intelligent and professional way.

Esoteric — 9/11 was an inside job, likewise 7/7, likewise the silly bit with the liquids that would have taken an hour of careful stirring in a bucket of ice in the aircraft lav all the while belching out sulf’rous and tormenting stench, to get a blast. BUT — we won’t come out and say so because we’d lose a valuable platform.

Alex Jones, the quarterback of 9/11 studies, said as much about his hero Ron Paul, ie., that he should be forgiven for badmouthing 9/11 Truth because he’d lose his valuable platform if he signed on. Admittedly Kucinich has at least said, “Further investigation would be a good thing” or something like that.

I recently read a good source — I can’t find it at the moment, but at any rate, I think it’s credible — that Obama no doubt learned from history that what JFK did, challenging Dulles, LeMay, Lemnitzer & al. over the missiles and Bay of Pigs, might not be a good long term strategy, and one could conceivably get more done (over a longer period of time) by playing it a bit cooler.

The subject is highly debatable. Just ask Paul Wellstone.

See above reply. Jack Kennedy went 90% pure nitro in his Formula One, and it blew up on him. Since then, those looking for a way through the thicket have tended to be more cautious. It remains to be seen whether shrewdness and stealth can do what forthright conviction failed to do.
