Whoa, I am really skeptical about this lawsuit. Here is my reasons. My wife had a stroke 30 years ago and has had small seizures ever since as a result. 3 years ago her seizure behavior changed and she burned her hand severely putting it into a frying pan and not feeling the pain as the flesh burned. As a result we contacted her neurologist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. After some testing she was enrolled in an experimental research program that implanted a device into her brain to control the seizure behavior. After two years and much fine tuning of the device, the seizures have diminished in number but not eliminated entirely.

I sincerely don’t believe that any implant could possibly control the behavior of any individual with some small implant as is claimed. In my career as a social worker I observed a young man that had a cyst removed from his neck and later on in life believed that doctors had implanted a receiving device in his head at that time and he heard voices. The voice he heard was that of my supervisor telling him to attack and rape his mother. He was committed to a state mental hospital where he took his anti psychotic medicine and was fine. When he went for a hearing the judge was told that his behavior was normal and he was discharged. After discharge he threw his medications away and returned to hearing voices again. You can not tell those who hear voices that they are not real, for the sick person that are as real as they could be.

That’s pretty horrifying and nothing new actually. These are historically disposable segments of the population. Old people (with dementia no doubt) and the mentally impaired in hospitals; the perfect test subjects for just about anything because no one would believe anything they said anyway. I too sometimes rant about the CIA. I put nothing past them. Yet I have met three people who worked for the agency. They seemed to be fine people. One said the CIA were worse than the Nazis. He had been in their labs.
Another was in communications. She felt it was run like a well oiled machine with little room for abuse. The third was one of the most beautiful young women I have ever met. She openly said she was an analyst and I imagine she worked on the larger information gathering side analyzing political, scientific or economic data. The problem with the agency is that it uses and abuses people as if they have no value. But then we forget the Americans working there are many times patriotic and caring people, just like the military, just like the drug companies, just like any other profession. The problem is not the agency, it is with people who do bad things either intentionally or ignorantly. It takes every person in every job in every profession in every company or agency being committed to keep informed and do the right thing. And if that is tough enough, try doing that in your own family and circle of friends as well. Plenty of folks have abused their own children in ways worse than CIA might.
