The Vatican is an independent entity. And for centuries they have relied on that to conceal what they do. This banking scandal has been in the news on and off for many years. And at the risk of sounding paranoid, the Catholic church has had many times over the centuries, dealt in assassination.

The cases are unsolved? Perhaps someone got off, but despite what the verdict was, from most reports there seems to still be the feeling the church got rid of what was inconvenient. We all know that saying about absolute power and what it does.
