UPDATE: Rep.-elect Allen West said media is ‘clearly misled’ on his ‘censorship’ comment

Florida’s Rep.-elect Allen West denied on his Facebook page Tuesday that he said the media should be censored for reporting on the documents released by WikiLeaks. The tea party-backed Republican claims he said the media should be “censured” – not “censored.”

“It has never been my intent to quiet or censor the press or anyone for that matter utilizing their right of freedom of speech granted to them under this country’s great American Constitution,” he wrote. “The confusion comes with the word censor…when I meant censure — in context that the media should be harshly criticized for printing the damaging documents Assange has released which so clearly puts our soldiers and country at risk.”

Original story continues below…

The government should censor news agencies that report on US documents leaked by websites like WikiLeaks, according to a tea party-backed Republican who will soon represent the 22th district congressional of Florida.

Speaking with an online radio station, Rep.-elect Allen West said that attacks on the US were not limited to “a bomb or an airplane flying into a building,” but could occur “through cyber attacks” or “through leaking of very sensitive classified information.”

“Regardless of whether you think it causes any harm, the fact that here is an individual that is not an American citizen first and foremost, for whatever reason gotten his hands on classified American material and put it out there in the public domain,” West continued. “And I think that we also should be censoring the American news agencies which enabled him to do this and also supported him and applauding him for the efforts. So that’s kind of aiding and abetting of a serious crime.”

Rep.-elect West is not the first to compare the release of confidential US documents by WikiLeaks to a terrorist attack. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, and Rep. Peter King (R-NY) have made similar comparisons. Even CNN bought into the analogy, wondering if WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is a “journalist or terrorist” during its coverage of the secrets outlet.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said the person who gave WikiLeaks 250,000 secret diplomatic cables deserves the death penalty.

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) said the New York Times, who published documents released by WikiLeaks, “committed at least an act of bad citizenship” and said the news agency deserves “very intensive inquiry by the Justice Department.”

In sharp contrast to lawmakers like Rep.-elect West and Sen. Lieberman, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) has suggested the world needs “more WikiLeaks.”

“In a free society we’re supposed to know the truth,” Rep. Paul said. “In a society where truth becomes treason, then we’re in big trouble. And now, people who are revealing the truth are getting into trouble for it.”

Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) has also supported the secrets outlet, saying that “if the public doesn’t know what’s going on, then they can’t vote intelligently.”

London Metropolitan police arrested WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange last week for a warrant out of Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning in a sexual assault case. He was granted bail by a British judge on Tuesday afternoon but is expected to remain in prison while Swedish authorities appealed the decision.

Ron Paul is the original “Tea Partier”. His message has been stolen by turds such as Allen West and these neocon types to get elected, thus giving the “Tea Party” (I can’t stand this label) a bad name. The scum around here just seems to stick to everything.

Limited gov’t, Mr West? Less gov’t intrusion in people’s lives, Mr West? Less oppression from those at the top, Mr West? What a fucking HYPOCRITE you are.

Why is it that those in the tea party insist that they are so for the constitution and yet every time they open their mouths, something so incredibly unconstitutional comes out that your own jaw drops to the floor? This guy should be disallowed from gov’t just on the basis of this statement alone! What a total moron.

What is it about Florida that they keep electing people who have NO idea what it means to be an American? Is it the lack of snow or something? Jeb, Martinez, and now this latest IDIOT… I just don’t get it. When did Florida decide to go with insanity as a requirement for elected office?

The title of this article was too good to be true. Calling for mass censorship of US media would also imply that FIXED News has to be censored. And that would be a good thing considering that all the other outlets are just as putrid.

And, is it just me, or has anybody noticed that this country goes back a notch on the evolutionary scale every time one of these baboons opens his/her piehole? How the rest of the sane world must be laughing it up on account of Amerikans. Oh, heavens help us!

    Greetings,

All this screaming about “treason” and “death to whistleblowers” is meant to scare any person that might be considering such action in the future. Without question, there will be new laws that limit what the press can and can not report on. I expect to see dozens if not hundreds of web sites shut down before the end of the year.

The only good thing is that the USA is quickly moving towards financial collapse and it is hard to fund 22 Intelligence Agencies without any money. If you ask me, it can’t happen soon enough.

Julian Assanges’ Wikileaks has been like a hunnting dog flushing out quail. Wiki’s release has definitely brought the extremist whack jobs out of hiding and into the spotlight where we can see them. If this fool had his way in 1963, Martin Luther King might never have been heard by the people, being “Censored’ by the most applicable technologies of the time, cutting TV reporting, news papers and possibly more. The TEAdiots definitely don’t know what they are saying.

Republicans are only capable of one thought or talking point at a time, and it is NO WONDER we see each of them regurgitating th same talking point on a given issue. On one hand, I know some things the government does need to be kept secret. On the other hand our government – and most all governments – a re staffed with sneaky capitalist liars who constantly lie about what they are doing in our names. It is the hostility to transparency that allowed Team Bush to illegally attack Iraq.

I KNEW America was spying on everything that moves and was no ‘shocked’ to see the proof of it.

I don’t believe Assange has “hurt” the US or anybody else, other than maybe himself. I really don’t feel like he has hurt the US. If america agents DIED because of this, that would be a major issue, but we haven’t heard the winers go on about this yet.

I wish fucking republicans did not own the media – If the media DID THEIR JOB, we wouldn’t have half the crap going on that we have going on.

I think you mean the response by *neocons* as you may not be aware that there are conservatives who dislike neocons and support Constitutional government and protecting us and our freedom from the criminal government.

Keep lumping everyone into the same enemy and soon we will have lost everything. Do you not understand that our differences are superficial and often artificial, created and exploited by neocons and neoconlibs for the purpose of destroying us?

There was a case where the safety of actual agents was at stake, where the security of our nation was compromised for real, and nobody called for their heads on a platter. Thomas Jefferson: “If I had to choose between government without newspapers, and newspapers without government, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose the latter.”
He understood that censorship of the media is the root of despotism.

Mr. West, et.al., have no problem with despotism. They, in effect, are advocating for it.
They have no business in public office, since they have no regard for their oath of office

What is that? Journal of southern history. Son, please.

The whites your refer to were slaves for a duration. Burden of debt. Horrible for certain. Most had run afoul of the law in England. Cast to the Americas, to many was a second chance, brutal as that chance was.

What you are talking about is the old rough rider bullshit. No, son, you’re the re-writer on this one.

I know this nations evil and dark history. The roots of it’s leaders. This history of the lodges. You live in a big city? Google maps masonic lodge.

Take a look at the cap and corner stone on your government buildings.

The Free library? You mean the Freeman library. I was born a Freeman son, you can’t bullshit me with this crap.

It’s spin, shades of truth, but one big lie.

All the declarations of the cause of cecetion are very clear in both intent and motive.

Secession, as well as the Confederate Constitution are extremely clear. We have this shit very well documented from all these bastards speeches, their notebooks, personal letters and diaries.

This is taking specific facts and twisting them into volumes of bullshit.

Actually it’s not surprising that he is not for free speech since he served in the military. In the military there is no such thing as free speech. These militarists would like our whole society to operate as the military does. Whoops!? I guess that would make them fascists?

Devil, it’s a sad fact that most Americans don’t know the history of their own ideologies, and that the neocons grew out of a melding of the corporate state with liberal values such as social welfare and other sorts of safety nets.

The educational system has been in decline here for a very long time and consists now of little more than consumerist training and sports appreciation peppered with doses of one’s right to sexual fulfillment, on a superficial level that is. I could go on but it would be too time consuming. Rather here is a long article, The Death of Free Will, describing the decline and plenty of links pop up in google when one searches neoconservative roots – it’s a mind blower if one doesn’t already know.

Yeah, check my reply above. I think 3-5 parties might be a good place to start, but yes. A situation where there is no winner takes all possible. Where coalitions must be formed to get things done. It’s more painful and erratic, but it’s clear two parties is just bullshit.

  • Jaimie11

Yes those whites were indentured, and they had advantage over black slaves – they could run away and meld in with the white population, blacks couldn’t. None the less, they were indentured to blacks and in some cases to indigenous owners, and if you don’t think that indentured servitude is not slavery please review your relationship, and all of ours who are mere citizen cogs in the machine, to the bankster class – all over the world people are rebelling against being enslaved to it.

The govt is even using the same arguments (a threat to national security) against WikiLeaks that they used 3 decades ago in the release of the Pentagon Papers!

I think one of Assange main sponsors is a very wealthy person from Assange home town.

    Then there is this:
Actor David Hemblem plays “Jonathan Doors, the enigmatic founder and leader of the Resistance in Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict. As founder of the computer company, “Doors International,” and pioneer of the “Avatars,” Doors has helped move the nation into the new millennium.”

The character of Jonathan Doors was a pc genius, he knew how to hack and he looks eerily similiar to Assange. David Hemblem also played a role in a tv movie called “Tek Wars”.

Well, let’s pretend our ways lead to infinite wisdom.:)

Initially you and I had a beef that was based on a misunderstanding, I do not hate Americans, but I am certainly very critical of what they do,since a lot of actions they undertake, have a direct effect & repercussion on the rest of us, non US citizens. But do not underestimate me, I am also without mercy with my own, since a lot of Brits are nothing but lackeys of US foreign policy.

It is one thing to prosecute Assange for espionage (although for legal and political reasons I doubt it has a chance).

It is quite another thing to say the government should censor the press (corporations which have been granted personhood by the courts).

The first is, arguably, a “grey area” within the law . . .the latter is clearly a violation of the First Amendment, a determined by the Supreme Court in New York Times v. United States 403 U.S. 713, 714 (1971).

As you work the TRUTH forward, you will discover that each and every one of us has been declared the ENEMY of Corp USA… remember that 4-time presidential ‘New Deal’ guy (FDR — 1933) — Yep! — declared us ALL ‘enemies…’ been at war ever since… Cheer$!

Ron Paul was the father of the real Tea Party movement and then the stinking Rhino Establishment Republicans moved in and bought out other politicos to follow them and other Neo-Cons jumped on board so they could call for war with Iran since Neo-Cons love war and empire so much.

Here’s the bottom line on this whole issue: we the people own those cables. We the people own our government. Period. We have the right to know what atrocities are being perpetrated in our names and with our tax dollars. I applaud the media outlets that shared the information for FINALLY doing something they should have been doing all along- for finally filling the role the 4th estate was meant to fill in this country, something they’ve been cowering from in fear of their corporate masters retribution. Good for them.

The amusing part of it is that this is a sterling example of the fact that most teapartiers don’t know their asses from a hole in the ground and have no clue what their beliefs actually are. Less government intervention, huh? Yeah, this kind of BS is the ticket for sure….

I’m telling you Devil, the neocons own the schools – it’s a hopeless educational experience. Recently, a friend’s daughter completed some little project for her Master’s degree – it was posted online in her department. I was dismayed to find it the equivalent of a fifth or sixth grade book report when I was in school.

Universities are glorified job training schools and everyone must get a degree these days because they can’t read after a high school level education. The universities are making a lot of money on the dumbed down masses. Only the hard sciences are still high level but how many go that route? In the main you have to have had a childhood in a rich home environment to get to the hard sciences, one in which books are still valued, dinner is a family gathering, and the TV is not on.

I was trying to forsee a worse case scenario, but there is no question, that our freedoms are disappearing fast. Just think of Homeland Security using Wal-mart as a base to spy on us all, and on each other. Never mind what the NSA is doing behind closed doors, yes, fascism is all around us. The internet seems to be our last stronghold, let’s fortify our defenses because our freedoms are under full assault. Democrat or Republican is irrelevant in today’s political environment. Gordon Liddy had a plaque on his wall that he cherished, “If you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.”

I’m continually amazed and disappointed at how often people confuse patriotism with supporting government. Why do people continue to accept what we’ve become over the founding principles of this country?

I did serve in the U.S. Army – not as a patriot, not to “kill poor people” as some have asserted and likely will assert again, and not in support of any wars or actions going on at that time. Nonetheless, I carried out my oath, I served with the honor of self-respect, and I was exposed to a lot of things.

What people like this and the incoming chairman of the House Banking Committee are purporting to believe (he was recently quoted as saying that Washington and the regulators exist to “serve the banks”)are a slap to the face of their constituents. What happened to a duty to reflect the beliefs of the people? What happened to a government that should fear the will of the people and not what we have today?

When will we take our country back? Why don’t we strive to be anything but uninformed and opinionated anymore? People should be left to believe whatever they choose, insomuch as it brings no harm amongst another. That said, why are we so easily led to believe such obvious lies? Is there no hope for freedom and liberty anymore? How did we get so far off track in only, say 75 years or so? Most importantly, why do we do nothing about it rather than rant behind a wall of anonymity in hoping it will change?

I get so goddamn tired of this word “traitor” being thrown around so cavalierly that it begins to mean nothing.

West is *NOT* a traitor . . . treason (and the actor, a traitor) consists of a citizen levying war on the United States.

West is a meaningless newly-elected (how, I’ll never know) fucking moron, given to a rather long history of making statements that show exactly how much of a fucking moron he is.

Too late Mr. West. The corporate boards already do just that! Remember Samuel Johnson’s words: “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.”

  • Anonymous

How about “Traitor to the Constitution”? What else would you call an elected official who calls on the very ideals upon which this country was founded to be turned into fodder for the bathroom stall?

Also, which definition are you using that indicates “levying war on the United States”, either implicitly or directly?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EIIEM2W4TGTTILHQYEJ2LCX72M ICEMAN

How about “exercising the rights and ideals this country was founded on?”

Which is what he was doing, albeit damn stupidly.

And, I think that “levying war on the United States” is sufficiently codified in case law so as to render your tortured definition a moot issue.

Not to defend West (because he’s a moron), but last I checked, even Congressmen-elect are guaranteed the right to a opinion, and the right to speak it, no matter how goddamn stupid it is.

  • Anonymous

So, once a official is elected to office, he no longer bears a
responsibility to act in accordance with the wishes of his electorate?
Granted, it a good summation of our current state of affairs, but I don’t
think that allowing something to happen makes it right is much of a defense.
Unfortunately, the sheepish populace was so caught up in “bucking” the
system, that we are now faced with a veritable cornucopia of corruption and
a group of uninformed nincompoops competing for press-coverage by appealing
    to the lowest common denominators.

Let the fools think they’ve accomplished something. There’s a revolution
brewing, and it ain’t about tea.

  • Anonymous

Traitor also includes giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

West certainly is acting in opposition to his oath of office (to preserve and protect the Constitution) so impeachment is appropriate. On that basis, impeachment is appropriate for about 90% of the House and Senate and of course, the President. Last one out please turn off the lights.

  • Anonymous

Have all republicans gone mad? Are they so stupid that they think censuring the press is good for a democracy? What the heck is wrong with people? Isn’t it better that these expose what is going on in our Government and the people can see the mistakes made and learn from them? Leaks like this could have prevented the Iraq war! Could have prevented 9/11! Michael More has a great line. “Leaks don’t kill people, secrets do”. Huckabee and the rest of the christians are demanding Assange’s incarceration and death! More fear mongering! They never miss a chance!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EIIEM2W4TGTTILHQYEJ2LCX72M ICEMAN

A elected official bears responsibility to take action that represents his constituents, yes.

West has taken no action . . . advanced no bills, resolutions, nor even a memo.

He’s shot his mouth off, that’s all, albeit pretty damned stupidly. And, he’s good for a 5-minute story. Tomorrow, it will be gone, buried in the same dust that buries every time some Congressman says something stupid.

    “A revolution brewing” . . . rotflamo . . . dream on.

What enemy? Julian Assange? That’s what the article (and West’s comment are in reference to). I wasn’t aware that Assange had made it to the ranks of “Official Enemy of the United States.” I don’t even think he’s made it to the infamous list of terrorist organizations.

By the way, Congressmen are not subject to impeachment.

West is not acting any way, shape, or form . . .other than running his mouth. Which, happens to be his right as a citizen. In America, you have the right to be as stupid as you choose to be . . . and some public figures exercise that right, seemingly every day.

There is a legal difference between running your mouth and being an “actor.”

West also has not been sworn to any oath, as yet.

He’s just another “public figure” whose lion mouth overloaded his hummingbird ass and is good for a story that will get some people’s knickers bunched up in their ass crack.

Tomorrow, the story will be gone, West will be a forgotten memory, relegated to the same dustbin wherein all the rest of the stupid things said by public figures resides.

When you see “a bill introduced by . . .” that is acting. Or, “West voted to . . .” And, that acting should be, and is, actionable by his constituents.

Right now, all you have is West, along with a klavern of right wing public figures and idiots, spewing babbling nonsense – Huckbaby and Palin being notables — for consumption by those inclined to follow them, and by those appalled by them.

And, more importantly, it represents “hits” on rawstory.com, which happens to be marketable.

    Fears sells.

I don’t believe the neo-cons have anything to do with social welfare or any other social safety net. They are fascists. Fascism has it’s roots in authoritarianism and conservative ideology. It has nothing to do with FDR or liberal ideas. They may pay lip service depending on the times (nazis), but they care nothing for the ordinary people.

The end rule here is do you support rule by the people (through their instrument the government) or not. The people free from propaganda, (which is crushed though government regulation), backed by a free press (supported through government regulation), and fair elections.

Ron Paul is correct. When it becomes a crime to tell the truth, we are in serious trouble. Allen West is nothing but a RINO in Tea Party clothing, the same as Sarah Palin and the rest of them.

nothing like a little totalitarianism to keep the tea party in line, huh?

jackass should read up a bit on how jim crow laws did exactly what he’s preaching to african-american newspapers during the first part of the 20th century.

In the first place ‘tea party man, he didn’t steal anything = no espionage, he leaked information from an anonymous source.
If our diplomats were honorable people, they would have nothing to worry about.

Nat Turner would have taken down this self-denegrating, self-demeaning, self-debasing, self-aggrandizing “Hankerchief-Head” in a flash! He and Clarence Thomas are prime examples of African-Americans who have laid their people lower than any Judas, Quisling or Benedick Arnold.

These are trying times that will test the souls of men, but this guy HAS no Soul despite his skin color.
He’s a traitor to America, to African Americans and… not surprisingly…TO HIMSELF!

Fire this guy…! I can’t believe a black man or any man calling for censorship and protecting secrets that were and stem from government illegality, subversion, or corruption. And there was a lot of it, wasn’t there. He’s just another pawn of those who are in power and have much to hide.

The idiot tea baggers that know virtually nothing about the Constitution they claim to love. And in their ignorance they voted in another braid dead Neanderthal. Evidently you do not have to know anything. All you have to do to be embraced by the right wing tea party is to say something so far to the right, that they become a party poster child.

Now this fool wants to do something else protected by the Constitution. One of the basic tenets. Freedom of the press. A press which barely functions as it is intended to. And this moron wants to dismantle what is left. He wants the US to receive not the truth, but simply what the government wants us to know. He is happy with that.

He joins the lot of candidates this year that want everything dismantled or changed in the Constitution. These are the people who speak for a large segment of the tea party.

    1. First one candidate wants to outlaw any abortion no matter what. Health, incest or rape.
    2. Another wants to outlaw any kind of birth control for anyone.
    3. Another wants to get rid of the department of education, and to make all schools private and no more public education.
4.They want to stop all student loans.
    5. To privatize police, fire, and all services. Which mean if like this one man, who forgot just once to pay 75.00 they let his house burn down. And of course if you are out of work and have no money than what? And if you call the police, and they check and you have not paid a fee, they will not come.
    6. To privatize social security and turn it over to Wall Street.
    7. To have no unemployment insurance. Even though the payroll tax taken from our wages pays for it. One idiot said it should be in the form of insurance we each take out. Well that is exactly what is does. It is paid for by each of us.
    8. To establish a government religion for the US. But which one?
    9. To de-regulate all business. But Bush already did that, and this is why we have no jobs. They are overseas and pay no taxes to this country.
    10. To get rid of the EPA. Even though one of their own Presidents, Nixon established it. One of the few programs for the benefit of this country, that any Republican ever began.
    11. To open up all state and federal parks to development by real estate developers.
    12. To abolish any and all clean up by company’s responsible for polluting land and water. It is too expensive and too hard on the company’s.
    13. To stop all scientific research that does not pass the biblical litmus test. This should put us behind even further.
    14. To do even more regarding the text books our schools use. They are already taking out things about the fight of unions, slavery, Thomas Jefferson and anything not conservative enough to be taught. Except of course creationism. And the age of the earth which is not millions of years old, but just 6,000.
    15. And one group headed by Phyllis Schaffley’s son is changing the Bible. They are removing anything Jesus did or said that is too liberal. Of course Jesus was the first liberal. But they hate the label so much they are ready to change the bible. How is that for hubris.

These are prime examples of what has been said over the past two years. And every day there is more. And some I have left out. These people including the weeping Boehner, and the rest of that group, will have two years to destroy what is laughingly called America. And we are being laughed at around the world. And it matters, because we must try to deal with the rest of the world on some kind of equal basis.

Good luck to all of us. When this man opens his mouth, we have the ignorance of the tea party to thank for one more intellectually lame law maker. And in case we forget, these people we elect ARE NOT OUR LEADERS. The Constitution say’s they are supposed to represent what we want. So when will they?

Well your rigtht J Conrad so much of US history showed Blacks who sold out in hopes of being included only to fine out when their use was over they were kicked out. Don’t get me started on Slappy Thomas as he’s so insane he sees his dead mother and grandfather and keeps saying he’s sorry. Well that’s what he said in his book anyway. Now to this West who was discharged from the military for killing two innocent unharmed Iraq people. Yes he is a cold hearted murder and didn’t go to jail for his crimes. Now just think he’s so far up the Tea Party’s butt he forgot the rules and ideas of the Tea Party were the same one’s the Civil Rights Movement had fought. history always repeats itself when you don’t learn from your mistakes.

When you’re a child and in school whispering to another child you are castigated for such. Those are just children and their secrets are trivial compared with the secrets of those in power.

Good people create government to protect themselves from the criminals. Unfortunately, the criminals adapt! Need I say more?

    Does this sound familiar?

Karl Marx’s “10 Planks” to seize power and destroy freedom:

1.Abolition of Property in Land and Application of all Rents of Land to Public Purpose.

    2. A Heavy Progressive or Graduated Income Tax.

3.Abolition of All Rights of Inheritance.

4.Confiscation of the Property of All Emigrants and Rebels.

5.Centralization of Credit in the Hands of the State, by Means of a National Bank with State Capital and an Exclusive Monopoly.

6.Centralization of the Means of Communication and Transport in the Hands of the State.

    7. Extension of Factories and Instruments of Production Owned by the State, the Bringing Into Cultivation of Waste Lands, and the Improvement of the Soil Generally in Accordance with a Common Plan.

8.Equal Liability of All to Labor. Establishment of Industrial Armies, Especially for Agriculture.

9.Combination of Agriculture with Manufacturing Industries; Gradual Abolition of the Distinction Between Town and Country by a More Equable Distribution of the Population over the Country.

    10. Free Education for All Children in Public Schools (or should they say “indoctrination clinics?”). Abolition of Children’s Factory Labor in it’s Present Form. Combination of Education with Industrial Production.

Check out what two teabagger gov-elects in Wisconsin and Ohio are doing. As the article states, there are consequences for campaign rhetoric. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see a few recall elections pop up around the country in the next year or so.

    “What enemy”

The enemy is whoever owing allegiance to the US wars against the United States or gives that enemy aid and comfort. My comment regarding aid and comfort to the enemy was expanding on the definition of traitor, I wasn’t arguing that Assange was ‘the enemy’; Assange can’t be charged with treason and neither can West. That’s why I stated that West was acting in opposition to his oath (which admittedly he hasn’t taken yet) by advocating limiting free speech through the government censorship of newspapers.

I do though disagree with your take on “acting”. If speech is action for the purpose of levying a criminal charge then speech alone by a sitting/sworn Representative is or could be action enough for their own disciplinary process. A few years ago I would have laughed at the notion of speech being actionable in a criminal proceeding but that was before we had hate-speech laws. Since political speech has a higher level of protection I would like to think that Assange has nothing to fear from the Administration but that was before the Patriot Act and the multitude of new laws giving the President and the President’s designees king-like, ‘off with their heads’ powers.

You went off in the wrong direction. That’s why it doesn’t make sense. Try this: turn around and head to the other end of the continuum, away from Marxism and Socialism, toward Mussolini Fascism (corporatism).

Z – you’ve got it right. Well said. Fox News twists information around like no other. You can always tell the the people who get their reality (which is to say – non-reality) from Fox News. It’s their exclusive source of info, they all march to the same tune, mindlessly repeating exactly what Glenn Beck and company say, and not smart enough to see the absurd hypocrisy they espouse. They are tools for the very people who are the only ones actually gaining the most from the tax law. The U.S. will go another $700 billion in the red, and the super rich continue to get huge tax break while at the same time the average American’s wages continue to stagnate or decline because jobs are otherwise shipped overseas.

What a moron! I always find it rather ironic when a “minority” pledges adherence to a party that is directly opposed to all that person represents by their very existence…An African American man joining that AstroTurf (any phoney grassroots movement actually backed by multimillion dollar corporations and interest groups, for those unfamiliar with the term) group known as the “Tea Party” (yeah, right) is one of the most lamentable actions I can think of. The terms “sell-out” and “Uncle Tom” come to mind. Not to mention that a call for mass censorship of US media is a terribly inadvertent admission of profound ignorance of the US Constitution. But Jesus, a BLACK MAN, calling for censorship???…Would this idiot, had he been a contemporary of Martin Luther King or Malcolm X, called for their arrests? I wonder. I guess this is one brother who jumps at Massa’s beck and call.

Z Johnson has it right. Well said. You can always tell people who watch Fox News. They get their “news” exclusively from Fox and don’t watch or listen to any other sources. They march in lock step with and repeat everything that Glenn Beck and company say – like mindless zombies with no will of their own.

Most TeaParty “patriots” are tools for the super rich and don’t even realize it. The hypocrisy of these people is astounding.

The new (continuing) tax package will add another $700 billion to the already large deficit, while the top income earners have never had a larger share of the wealth in this country than they do right now. The top 10% of income earners take in approx. 50% of all income earned in the U.S..

According to the Central Intelligence Agency, income distribution in the United States is more unequal than in Guyana, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, and roughly on par with Uruguay, Argentina, and Ecuador. Income inequality is actually declining in Latin America even as it continues to increase in the United States.

I urge everyone to read the series of reports at this link: http://www.slate.com/id/2266025/entry/2266026/

The TeaParty folks need to read it most of all, but unfortunately they are the least likely to read information like that – and the most likely to disbelieve it when they hear about it. “If Glenn Beck doesn’t say it, it can’t be true.” :) What they are failing to realize is, much of what Glenn Beck says is a misrepresntation of the truth.

  • http://twitter.com/meekybaby Audrey

Sorry. We have free speech here. If we could censor every lie or other things we find objectionable then you, Mr. West, and other “tea Partiers” would never have been elected. Glenn beck and Rush Limbaugh would certainly be censored for their inflammatory statements and lies. No, bitter pill as it is to swallow, free speech must remain so.That is what makes us different than other countries .

Where is it written that ALL black people must think exactly alike? Why is it ok for whites to be liberal or conservative but not ok for blacks? Do you realize how racist your comment is?

Allen West knows the truth, because he experienced it. All of the little kids out there with their little toys are now screaming First Amendment!!! But to have any Constitutional rights at all you have to have guys going out into battle, putting their lives out on the line, and getting killed for those rights. West was out there doing just that. His toys were not Beamers and condos, his toys were M-16′s, artillery and sending men out to do battle to lose their precious American lives. We are at war against a particularly fanatical enemy that wants to destroy all our freedoms. Iran could at any time seize the spigot of the world’s oil supply in the Persian Gulf and conquer the Middle East and beyond. Pakistan, already a nuclear power, could easily fall to Jihadists. While Obama and Washington dither, those like Mr. West, those who have experienced this war for our survival first hand, are the people fighting to wake us up and lead us forward. They are the ones who are doing what really needs to be done- win this war against Islamic fundamentalism and conquest, win this war that directly threatens every American and their precious Constitutional rights. Are people writing here crazy? Do they really think that classified American security documents can be published randomly without having a powerful effect on our national security? Do those writing on this board really think during this time of war and intensive global diplomacy that the publishing of CIA and State Department documents is a good thing? In just one of those Wiki documents the leader of Saudi Arabia calls for the overthrow of the current Iranian regime by the US. The leaking of documents like this destroys confidence in US government policy, and greatly weakens American efforts to keep allies in line- and to keep them allies at all! In the case of Saudi Arabia, they have now essentially caved in to Iran and are giving Lebanon away to Iranian backed Hizbollah because they think Obama cannot be trusted. Allen West understands what we are up against, and if he went a little too far in his sounding the alarm at this time, so be it! At least we now have a leader in Washington who understands the critical situation that our nation is facing. And you guys with the Beamers and condos…. yes, guys like Allen West did go to war so you can keep playing with your toys, and you can even keep squandering away the amazing dream that is America while the threat of Islamofacism grows- ’cause leaders and fighters like Allen West are gonna save yer cowardly, capitulating lazy liberal ass butts once again!

Once Pakistan flips to the Jihadists, which is not that far off….or Iran gets the bomb….or North Korea gives an A-bomb to Al Qida nuts in an independent Taliban Afganistan free of US troops, because North Korea really, really is insane and hates the USA, then look out! The next terror attack will not be from hijacked civilian aircraft hitting US cities. All it will take are Jihad suicide speedboats equipted with primitive, low yield dirty nuclear bombs attacking America’s coastal cities. LA, NYC, Boston, Miami, etc.- about a dozen simultaneous speedboats would be enough and they win. And they will win, unless we stop them before we lose millions of American lives to an attack on our homeland. Lets see, did he say censure or censor? Frankly I don’t give a damn! And if this sounds like scare tactics by some right wing ideologe- I hate the simplistic jingoism of Rush, Fox and their ilk. But the above is the real threat we now face. In the Iran Iraq War, Ayatollah Khomeini sent thousands of young men and children to their deaths in mine fields while holding plastic keys. These children cleared the mine fields with their feet and bodies, and the plastic keys, which were made in China, were their keys to heaven.

Ahmadinejad was very involved in the Iran Iraq War with the Revolutionary Guards and with the setting up of the Basiji forces. To this day they are his power base in Iran.

    from Wikipedia:
The human wave tactic was implemented in the following way: The barely armed children and teenagers had to move continuously forward in perfectly straight rows. It did not matter whether they fell as canon fodder to enemy fire or detonated the mines with their bodies. The important thing was that the Basij continued to move forward over the torn and mutilated remains of their fallen comrades, going to their death in wave after wave. “They come toward our positions in huge hordes with their fists swinging,” an Iraqi officer complained in the summer of 1982. “You can shoot down the first wave and then the second. But at some point the corpses are piling up in front of you, and all you want to do is scream and throw away your weapon. Those are human beings, after all.”

Islamofacism is a serious threat, and if it is not stopped over there, in Pakistan, Iran, Yemen, Sudan, Lebanon, Gaza, it will come to a movie theater in your own home town- and they won’t be showing movies any more! Leaders like Allen West are needed right now, and if West made a minor error of speech due to political inexperience, I can handle that! We and the international community must force regime change in Iran, and we must politically and culturally restructure and fix failed countries like Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen- just to name a few. Iraq is a great example of what can be done if the international communty makes a commitment. And if Iraq for some reason in the future insists on failing our expectations, we should just tell them we’ve had enough and blow them back to the Stone Age. Islamic Nuclear Terrorism is just too big a threat to allow this nasty business of Jihad to go too far.
