Tucker Carlson: Michael Vick should have been executed

When President Barack Obama praised the NFL’s Eagles for giving quarterback Michael Vick a second chance, it was inevitable that the pundits at Fox News would feign outrage.

But no one could have predicted that one Fox News host would go as far as to call for Vick’s death.

“President Obama — it has been confirmed by the White House — called the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles and during the course of their conversation, thanked him for giving Michael Vick a second chance,” Fox News’ Tucker Carlson reported Tuesday while filling in for Sean Hannity.

“Now, I’m a Christian. I’ve made mistakes myself. I believe fervently in second chances but Michael Vick killed dogs and he did it in a heartless and cruel way and I think, personally, he should have been executed for that,” he continued.

“But the idea that the president of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs, kind of beyond the pale,” Carlson said.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie told Sports Illustrated‘s Peter King Monday that Obama called him and was passionate about Vick’s comeback.

“He said, ‘So many people who serve time never get a fair second chance,’” Lurie said. “He said, ‘It’s never a level playing field for prisoners when they get out of jail.’ And he was happy that we did something on such a national stage that showed our faith in giving someone a second chance after such a major downfall.”

White House spokesman Bill Burton clarified that Obama “of course condemns the crimes that Michael Vick was convicted of, but, as he’s said previously, he does think that individuals who have paid for their crimes should have an opportunity to contribute to society again.”

Burton also said that part of the reason for Obama’s call was to talk about alternative energy plans for Lincoln Field, where the Eagles play.

Carlson wasn’t the first Fox News host to be be upset by the president’s actions.

“The criticism is to specifically praise giving Michael Vick this kind of a chance in some way excuses, perhaps, what Michael Vick did or sends some sort of a message to people that it’s not that bad,” Fox News host Megyn Kelly worried.

Filling in for Keith Olbermann on MSNBC Tuesday, Sam Seder pointed out that while Obama didn’t excuse what Vick did, President George W. Bush did excuse I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby after he was convicted in the Valerie Plame case.

“Tell me if I’m wrong here,” Seder asked sociologist Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. “In the media, at least, it seems to me that there appears to be two standards for two different crimes and for two different presidents.”

“You’re absolutely right,” Dyson said.

Yeah, execute Michael Vick for killing dogs and give Bush, Cheney and their Neo-con Cabal a pass for causing the deaths of thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi’s via lying us into an illegal war is OK.

Leave it to conservatives to value a dogs life over human beings.

Somehow the “right,” and their penchant for killing people, seems all wrong. Quite a conundrum. Then again, maybe it’s business as usual.

Fox hosts should be required to have “I am lying.” tattooed on their foreheads. It would be the most truthful thing you could see on the network.

  • antiM

it’s getting WAY TOO easy and accepted for pundits to say things like that… many people do horrible things and serve too little jail time in the US (unless they are poor). I think bad pundits manipulate the public’s frustration in that.

throwing around murder talk like it’s nothing is horrible.

  • Anonymous

Michael Vick…Killed dogs, served time in prison. Carlson says he should have been executed.

Bush/Cheney…Stole two elections, started two wars on false pretenses that resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent people, engaged in war profiteering, spied illegally on Americans, authorized torture in violation of international law, outed a CIA operative for political reasons. Carlson defends them, calls himself a Christian.

Does anyone with an IQ above 60 believe anything said by a Fox Network host?

  • Anthony Wayne Walker

Remember now Lil’ Tuck is a Christian. I’m sure he’s talking from a Christian perspective and representing the rest of the good Christians at Fox. I count my blessings everyday that I’ll never have to associate with these imbeciles. You see according to Deuteronomy 23:1 “He that is bruised with a bruising, or is bruised in the testicle, shall not come into the congregation of Jehovah”. Here are the events and how I was eternally excluded from getting any “churchin”: Some years back I got liquored up and was running off at the mouth to my wife, who said, quote: “If you don’t shut the fuck up, I’m going to kick you in the nut’s”, unquote. I said something like, “bring it” or something to that effect. Well she “brought it” not once but twice! I got to tell you it hurt, the pain transcended the numbing affects of alcohol. Again, it hurt, but I know it didn’t hurt half as bad as having to spend eternity with these assholes.

Tucker Carlson is such a failure at everything he does, it’s not surprising he’d be angry at the successful Michael Vick who can’t be held down. Tucker has penis envy. The limp dyke mofo.

  • Eyeball_Kid

Tucker the White Boy Dilettante wouldn’t make such an outrageous comment were Brett Favre to have been caught doing a similar misdeed. Tucker’s talking code for “Hang the black man for upsetting the sensibilities of white boys like me.” What Vick did was outrageous, he was punished by the Court, and now he’s back to making a living. He’s doing what he can to move on (and he’s doing much better than expected.). But that’s not good enough for Tucker the White Boy Dilettante, who gives Cheney a pass for the felonies and capital crimes that he committed, and gives Bush 43 another pass for the mass murders he committed for the unjust war (which, from most moral perspectives, does not sanction murder) that Bush lied about to bring it about. He further gives a pass to Donald Rumsfeld, another white boy who truly deserves a guilty verdict for capital crimes.

Yep. In Tucker’s White Boy World, these (white) messengers of death for Iraqis, Afghans, and US soldiers are today’s heroes. By any standard, Vick’s crimes are far less severe than mass murder and torture of human beings. Yet Tucker can’t stop talking about how those black men need to be taught a lesson. Right, Tucker?

Have you ever seen what happens to cows on their way to your plate? They are driven (up here in Wisconsin) in sub-freezing weather in trucks that let the wind breeze through them to the slaughter plant, where they are herded into a pen. Then they are forced through a gate to the killing floor. They get a rod through the forehead, and if they are lucky they die right away. Some are not so lucky. They have their throat slashed to drain the blood. The ones still alive cough out the blood through the hole in their neck. And you can see it in their eyes. They know they are going to get it. Enjoy that burger while you condem Vick

Who cares! How is it that centrists and the left let the right-wing control what we talk and think about? That’s right — because we obsess over what THEY say, not what we say. “Oh, did you hear that Fox News says all liberals should be killed? Oh my” I’m not going to blame Rawstory in this case for jumping on any silly thing that Fox News says because they aren’t the only guilty one, but this is what we do. Its what motivates us. If we always only react, we’ll never set any agendas. We’ll simply react and attempt to slow down the agenda of the right-wing.

And now folks I bring you a blast from the past:

…Bill Brady a Republican introduced a bill calling for the use of gas chambers for mass euthanasia of dogs and cats, reversing a ban enacted the year before by the state legislature…

And it wasn’t even that long ago. Oh and Brady was running for governor of Illinois.

  • ghostof911

Tucker Carlson claims he is a Christian, so he calls for the execution for those who kill animals.

Fair enough. But why does his brand of Christianity have no problem with the slaughter of defenseless civilians?

At Least 42 Killed as US Drones Continue to Rock North Waziristan

The US has launched 115 strikes this year killing over a thousand people. Of these, only a handful were ever identified as “high value targets” and a number of those reemerged later, alive and well. The vast, vast majority will forever be known as “suspects,” despite mounting evidence that they are by and large civilians.

I abhor what Michael Vick did to those dogs. He served 2 years, apologized repeatedly and publicly begged for forgiveness. He did. I’m not making it up. BUT:

George W. Bush’s actions led to the deaths of THOUSANDS of people.

Over 2,000 Americans and people living in the US DIED as a result of George W. Bush’s actions and inaction before 9/11/2001.

A handfull of people died because George W. Bush did not prevent the anthrax mailings.

Thousands of Afghans have died since George W. Bush started the failed war in Afghanistan.

Over 5,000 US soldiers and hundreds of “coalition” soldiers died in the Afghanistan war and George W. Bush’s vanity war in Iraq.

Over 100,000 IRAQIs have died because of George W. Bush’s vanity war in Iraq.

George W. Bush allowed a covert CIA agent to be outed, endangering the lives of countless US operatives, then commuted the sentence of the traitor, Scooter Libby, who outed the agent.

Who knows how many people died in Abu Ghraib, at Bagram, at Guantánamo, at the CIA “white” sites, in transit between these facilities, or elsewhere, because of Bush’s actions, Cheney’s actions, Donald Rumsfeld’s actions, Karl Rove’s actions, Paul Wolfowitz’s actions, etc.

Tucker Carlson ought to be brought up on charges for aiding and abetting these WAR CRIMINALS. Everyone ought to follow Glenn Greenwald’s lead, and whenever one of these lying fascists open their pukeholes to start spewing lies, hate, nonsense, their parallel psychotic right-wing unreality, just remind them forcefully that they supported a war criminal and have blood on their hands.

AMERICAN AND OTHERS’ BLOOD ON THEIR FILTHY LITTLE RIGHT-WING HANDS!

Just when I thought I’d heard the most excessive over the top flaming bag of BS ever, along comes TC with this drivel. I am now firmly convinced that a condition of employment at Faux Noise requires multiple mental and sociological issues and sexual repressions.

Well at least Tucker’s mother dresses him now and he has lost the bowtie LOL. You know if this tool ever had to work a real job, oh well I digress…

This rabid so called commentary would be laughable if it wasn’t so pervasive and taken seriously by the undereducated tools and fools who watch and believe the nonsense from the ministry of propaganda known as Fox.

We are so screwed unless we reclaim the public airwaves and restore true balance and constructive dialog. But with the Riechpublicans howling at the gate it will never happen.

Michael Vick got a second chance and not so many felons EVER get a second chance. I mean shit, America has war criminals running loose. Yes and of course, the Bushco war criminals should all be “executed” and after they’ve been put on trial and given due process.

So let me get this straight: A president can LIE the country into TWO wars, get hundreds of thousands killed, maimed, or exiled from their own country, have a vice president who outs an active CIA agent, and Faux says NOTHING about it, encouraging it, in fact. But a guy can do his sentence, pay his debt to society and come out in one piece, but HE should be executed? Good fucking God, Carlson, you were a complete IDIOT when Stewart embarrassed the fuck out of you for the idiot bow ties, and now that you are wearing adult clothes, you are even WORSE than you were before.

What the fuck is it that you REFUSE to see about JUSTICE? This man DID HIS TIME, paid his debt to society as prescribed by laws passed by elected officials. He served his sentence. You, on the other hand, are screaming about his crime, even though that was done with YEARS ago. you are stretching and REALLY HUNTING for something to get outraged over.

Pathetic as hell, FOOL. You are finished. You were NEVER a great newsperson, or even a decent pundit. You are a fool, a complete idiot, who thinks that he can gin up phony outrage just by saying something stupid. And you might get a few idiots who agree with you, even. But on faux, that isn’t hard, you just have to be a bigger idiot than those watching. You’ve proved to us all that you qualify. More’s the pity. I hang my head in shame that idiots like you should even be given time in front of a microphone. This country is toast.

This fits perfectly with the authoritarian mindset. My guess is that as things get worse in this country, there will be more and more calls for violence against the “undesirables.” Funny thing about being an undesirable is who gets to decide? It’s going to be the plutocrats running this country and that doesn’t include ole Tucker.

Time to make hypocrisy a capital crime. Vigilantism is already starting. The final destination is getting nearer and nearer:

Citing Facebook Posts, Fox News Turns in Indiana Grandmother for ‘Terror Link’
Fox Insists Woman Made ‘Anti-American Comments’ in Emails

    http://news.antiwar.com/2010/12/28/citing-facebook-posts-fox-news-turns-in-indiana-grandmother-for-terror-link/

Apparently no longer content to simply shill for a growing police state, Fox News decided to take what passes for the law these days into its own hands today, turning in a 46 year-old grandmother from Indianapolis, Indiana for having a “possible terrorist link.”

The entire case against the woman, one Kathie Smith, appears to have been based around data culled off of her Facebook page and the content of emails they exchanged with her. The Department of Homeland Security in Indiana confirmed that their first information about Mrs. Smith was when Fox News sent them a video in which she allegedly makes “anti-American comments.”

The case against Mrs. Smith is virtually entirely circumstantial, and is available, in all its grim details, on Fox News’ website. The report cites photographs of suspects in a German terror plot appearing in their home. Smith notes that her husband, a German Muslim, grew up with the men in question.

Indeed, Fox expresses outraged that Mrs. Smith flew “as recently as two weeks ago,” to Germany with her husband and demanded to know she was not on the “no-fly list” on the basis of her conversion to Islam and her criticism of US foreign policy.

Despite being an effort to portray Mrs. Smith as a thoroughly unseemly character, the article itself delves into serious kookiness later on, as the author complains that Mrs. Smith refused to “friend” her on Facebook and was discovered to have clicked “Like” on a profile for Anwar al-Awlaki, a US born cleric tapped for assassination by President Obama.

The “case” against Mrs. Smith however is not really the relevant factor here, so much as the fact that Fox News took it upon themselves to build a case against some random convert in Indianapolis and then “turned her in” to the feds.

The indications are that the feds were thoroughly unimpressed with the case against her, adding the video to some state-wide database called the “Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center” but apparently doing little else.

The effort against Smith closes with a chilling comment from the grandmother, who notes “I am exercising my right, as an American citizen to freedom of speech, religion, and the right to bare arms. I have the right in America to say what ever I want. That is what makes America so great, right?” The report then immediately segues into a comment from an unnamed “consultant” claiming that Smith’s comments are “classic signs of extremism.”

You have to keep in mind, from Tucker’s POV, killing a black man is not in the same category as killing a dog. Nor is keeping black men in cages where they’ll fight with each other in the same category as it is with dogs.

Oh great, who are they gonna target next? Anti-TSA Protesters?

I can just imagine a news outlet calling for all dissidents to be locked up in prison camps…

Yeah, what Mr Vick did was pretty scummy, but he has done his time in prison for it. End of story.

isn’t this whiney little trust-fund baby the same asshole that bragged about getting a friend and beating up a gay man who apparently threatened his masculinity once? I think that was before he dressed up and stumbled around the stage on “Dancing With The Stars”. Maybe he should have learned how to shake his boobies like Bristol did every week.

“Treating other living things with respect is more important than sports.”

    So Vick is not living?

I do not argue the point that Vick’s treatment of animals was barbaric and WRONG. I still have extreme problems with him wanting to own a dog, as was brought up on sports radio sometime back. However, he was convicted, served his time, and is now working on a fresh start.

I’d venture to guess that the bulk of the “KILL VICK” crowd would not even be here if he was the night dishwasher at Denny’s.

The rabid envy is because he came back to his chosen field of employment and is successful.
    That’s it plain and simple.
But his actions with the animals was and still is wrong.

I gotta tell ya, my favorite aircraft, this A-10 Warthog. I LOVE the Warthogs.

What disgusting hyporcritcal bulls#1te this is. For any other news story related to animal cruelty, neocons will call animal rights activists or animal rescue people ‘treehuggers’ , accuse them of ‘putting animals before humans,’ or somehow manage to drag abortion into the debate. And now Tucker Carlson has the gall to get all humane society on Obama. And I am saying this as someone who’s fostered and rescued dogs and cats, is anti-dogfighting, and loves pitbulls (‘pibbles’). The neocon faux concern for animal rights -only when it’s convenient – just makes me want to puke.

Hey Whiny Man-Child Tucker, don’t make me call up Jon Stewart to put you back in your place, AGAIN. I don’t even see how this bunghole still has a job after being exposed as a weakling on national tv. Carlson has killed off more shows than Ted McGinley. Why is this twit still getting airtime? Does anyone actually like this guy? His daddy ran a defense fund for traitor Scooter Libby and his step-mom’s an heir to the Swanson food franchise. I’d like to see them financially execute him off the Will for being such a shithead.

As for Vick, he did the crime and did the time. The dude has made a HUGE comeback in the NFL. What Vick has done to get back to the front of the pack is almost unheard of. To stand up again after the fall he took, was a big statement. Never underestimate the determination of a man who is time rich and cash poor. Big props to Vick for turning it around and working for the positive charge in life. Maybe this second chance at success will inspire others who have screwed up in their lives, to strive for redemption in our so-quick-to-judge society. I hope that when he does start earning a little money for himself, he will guard it a little better, and not let friends and shotty business deals burn it up like before.

Tucker Carlson is clearly a racist, he should be fired for being so bitter, discontent and disrespectful. this is straight up slander and defamation. I can’t understand how someone is so vagued with the audacity to put down someone after they recovered from a Major downfall. what this symbolizes is hate, disgust and bigotry attitude. he is totally out of character and, the media will not appreciate what he has said, especially the African American community.

It was the simple fact that Obama praised the reinstatement of Vick that has fools like Carlson in an uproar. You can damned well bet that if the likes of a Palin went public approving Philadelphia’s decision- this Tucker tool would be spouting a whole different line.I’ve heard it all now-executing somebody for animal abuse-yea right.
This has nothing to do with Vick, the NFL,or the Eagles.Obama supports a decision-which I personally agree with-the opposition automatically counters even to the point of being totally idiotic. We are getting to the point that if Obama farts-FOX idiots like Tucker will claim it was the latest liberal conspiracy to undermine the Constitution.

Xian Carlson does not understand the goal of our society’s criminal justice system. The ex-con Vick paid for his crime, and he should now be allowed to reform and pursue an honest career. Xian Carlson apparently is unaware that Vick broke no Biblical law. The Xian God does not forbid cruelty to slaves, women, children, and animals. Pres. Obama was kind and correct to publicly recognize Vick for his progress in rehabilitation. Carlson showed himself to be mean-spirited and racist for pointing to Vick when there are mega-killers of humans walking among us.

I must say, I understand your point, but I don’t wholly agree. This is one of the most accomplished sessions of Congress in the body’s history, and that’s up against the most stubborn and abusive opposition minority party in history. Keep in mind, too, that after the right no longer had the “restoring honor and integrity to the Oval Office” meme they started back in ’97/’98, they immediately launched into the “Liberals are commies!” mode. That’s a lot to fend off when half the population doesn’t vote, so called “moderates” aren’t in the least bit invested in the political process until a month before election day, and when there’s a raging ignorance about even the basic structure or purpose of government as a whole (don’t get me started on the various incorrect interpretations of The Constitution).

It’s perfectly in play with Christians–you don’t agree with them, you’re ostracized and/or executed. It is a small majority of Christians that are believers in brotherhood over bloodshed. That’s true of most religions. There is a slight edge for the rational over the impetuous and hate-fueled, but even plenty of “moderates” believe the same core ideas. It’s a fine line between “God Hates Fags” and “Homosexuality is a choice, and Jesus can make you right.”

I say the moderates need to own and reject the extremists, but all here in the future need to reject articles of faith.

  • Anonymous

I have rescued animals my entire life and if I can forgive Michael Vick then anyone should be able to. I was broken hearted when the animal abuse story first broke, what Vick did was horrible and I believe prison time in Leavenworth was a just punishment. I have a friend in Leavenworth and it’s not an easy place to be but then that’s prison. We cannot shun people for the mistakes they make and repent for; every person who does their time needs a second chance, if they blow it then the Man will deal with them.

  • Anonymous

If that’s true, then I say bravo.

I don’t agree with what he did to those dogs either, but he was convicted and served the sentence handed down to him.

I think no matter what he does for the rest of life, he’ll always be remembered as the money man of the operation, and as being the one person in it all who could have prevented it.

Could he show a bit more compassion for the dead dogs? I think so.

Will he? Only if PETA is behind it.

What I see is someone genuinely determined to change things for the better. Whether it is his PR team, self-pity or something bigger motivating his recent campaign against teen violence/animal cruelty, I applaud Vick for taking a stand. Breakdowns often lead to breakthroughs, and I think this is a case where the situation will lead to a greater good…

That doesn’t affect me. What affects me is the low standards these processing plants have, and how they’re willing to push sick cows into the process instead of cull them from the herd. Years ago, there was some video of a farm using a forklift to get a sick cow onto its feet because the standard was that as long as it could walk it could be processed. That’s the problem. That is “American Exceptionalism” at its peak, finding the shortest route to get one’s job done and done with a sour face the whole time–like this dickhead at the Penn Station MacDonald’s I was at over the holiday. He was litterally clapping at the crowd and shouting, “Come on, people, let’s go!” That’s not how you handle a service job. People should be proud of the work they do, and want to do the best job they can even if they hate their job and, in an industry like meat processing, strive for the cleanest and most productive output for the community at large, but companies would rather be sued for sloppy standards than actually invest in raising their standards.

It’s the Chewbacca Defense: it don’t make sense.

True what Vick did was not admirable…but it appears he has changed his ways…rehabilitated himself…and isn’t that what punishment, such as prison is designed for…Vick seems to have been a success story….more than I can say for Libby (Cheney, Yoo, Cheney, Bybee, etc.)…

Poor Tucker, falling so far down on the relevance charts that he ends up on Fox and has to make same outlandishly stupid comment to get his name out.

The Fox people do this for one purpose – ratings. It gets people talking and some actully stay tuned for more. Best thing is to ignore them. When we ignore them, ratings fall and they go away. That’s how capitalism works. If only we’d do this to Palin.

“Tonight I ask you to consider another group of Americans in need of help. This year, some 600,000 inmates will be released from prison back into society. We know from long experience that if they can’t find work, or a home, or help, they are much more likely to commit crime and return to prison. So tonight, I propose a four-year, $300 million prisoner re-entry initiative to expand job training and placement services, to provide transitional housing, and to help newly released prisoners get mentoring, including from faith-based groups. America is the land of second chance, and when the gates of the prison open, the path ahead should lead to a better life.”

President George Bush, State of the Union Address, 2004.

Tucker Carson says he is a Christian. The KKK declared themselves Christians each time they hanged innocent black men, women and children. Several time the women were pregnant when executed by the KKK. Carson is falling right in line with his Christian brothers. The difference? Carlon wears a suit and bow tie.

President Bush signed the Second Chance Act of 2007, the first of its kind legislation that authorized various grants to government agencies and nonprofit groups to provide employment assistance, substance abuse treatment, housing, family programming, mentoring and victims support. The idea is to reduce the occurrence of re-offending, violation of probation and parole.

I don’t support the crime, in fact it sickens me.

However as horrible as the crime was, Mr. Vick has served his sentence.
I as a imperfect human am glad the man has had a chance at redemption. It is now up to Mr. Vick to redeem himself, and who knows what good may come from this. Not to get all biblical on you but I seem to recall a quote that went something along the line of “Let he without sin cast the first stone”.

Another point I’d like to bring up, are these Fox nuts the same people who were calling for the killing of all pit-bulls as they are a “dangerous breed?” Which by the way is pure BS.

As I am the proud human papa of a beautiful Strafordshird Bull Terrier which we rescued from starvation after she was abandoned in the country as a 6 month old pup. I can tell you she is the best four legged friend I’ve ever had, loyal and loving unconditionally.

So yes I see your rage, but can you not see compassion?
If Mr. Vick screws up again, then toss away the key, but until he does why not give him a chance at redemption?

After WWII nazis were hunted down and punished, but after the Civil War, the government said, “the war’s over now, go ahead and hang as many blacks as you want.” What if the judge had said the same to Vick regarding his dogs. There would be an outcry from dog lovers everywhere. Racism is such that there is more justice for dogs than humans.

At first reaction, I thought Tucker was an idiot, until I actually read what Vick did to the dogs. Dogs were hung, shot, killed with a shovel, electrocuted and completely neglected. The torture Vick put those dogs through was unimaginable. He should have be executed. Go read the details of his case.

Have you ever been to a meat packing plant? I’m not excusing Michael Vick as I said what he did was horrible. Need I tell you what other cultures do to dogs. Vick was arrested, tried, convicted and served his time. Child molesters and rapists do less time. Your outrage of the treatment of animals while understandable is over blown. Get over it. For those who are unfamiliar with the complaint against Vick here is an excerpt from the Richmond Times Dispatch which covered the story in depth. I in no way agree with Carlson on executing Vick but I do feel very strongly that he should have been banned from the NFL for life. It is also disturbing that Obama would even comment on it.

    - Michael Vick put family pets in rings with pit bulls and thought it was funny watching the trained killers injure or kill the helpless dogs, a witness told federal investigators during the dogfighting investigation that brought Vick down.
In a 17-page report filed Aug. 28, 2008, by case agent James Knorr of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and released Friday under the Freedom of Information Act, a person identified as confidential witness No. 1 said Vick placed pets in the ring against pit bulls owned by “Bad Newz Kennels” at least twice and watched as the pit bulls “caused major injuries.”
The witness said Vick and co-defendants Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips “thought it was funny to watch the pit bull dogs belonging to Bad Newz Kennels injure or kill the other dogs.”

Tucker calls himself a ture Christian but in the closet. Vick killed/tortured dogs and as Tucker says should be killed. Bush killed millions of Iraq sleeping because the bombs missed the target, kidnapped and tortured/raped/murdered innocent men/women/children and he should be praised and honored. Scooter Libby now employed lied and conviced felon as he fell on the sword for Dick Cheney. Dick Cheney released a Covert CIA Agents name while she worked iin Iran causing her workers to be killed and her life forever in danger. Contra Affair where US guns were openly sold to the enemy by Ollie North and George H.W. Bush which both did very well after their crimes and one became President. What Tucker means is if your a minority you should do if your white and accepted you are a hero. Rev. Huckabee’s son continues to torture and kill animanals for fun but the Christians don’t see that as a problem, even when Huck’s son cam to the Airport with a loaded gun it wasn’t a crime. The Fake American Christian Values is what helps bring this country down. Trucker would fine peace within himself if he came out of the closet.

Very interesting. So is Fox advocating the Death Penalty for any crime? Is Carlson a member of PETA? Is Carlson a Vegan?

No matter how inhumanly those dogs were treated, Death is not a mandated punishment under any established law in the civilized world. Then why advocate for putting Vick to death? Because that is what the Fox viewers want to hear on their house organ.

I wonder if Carlson would be taking such a high ground if Obama said that the jail sentence was “too light a sanction”? What if it was Brett Favre and not Michael Vick, would Carlson be calling for his death too?

Interesting, a Fundamentalist Christian preacher I know told me that a Serial Killer can be redeemed if he simply accepted Christ as his savior and asked for forgiveness. Yet Fox News isn’t willing to let Michael Vick off the hook after he served a Federal Prison sentence.

I would love to see what Howie Long, Terry Bradshaw and the rest of the Fox Sports crew would say about this. After all, I saw them interviewing Vick weeks ago. They didn’t seem to have a problem with him. Oh, yes, that is a separate viewership and profit center.

I don’t really care for Michael Vick, but give consideration to the fact that Michael Vick is not from a privileged backround and is not an intellectual. He is an athlete. It’s not like society ever expected or was rewarding his intellect so that we could say: “He should have known better.”

It’s also not clear who Tucker thinks should be executing people.

It’s not his culture it’s him. You can’t blame a culture on one bad individual. Are you going to say O.J. is a thug because of culture?

  • http://twitter.com/savagelight ThatBostonMan

As Bad as Vick was, it’s possible that he could have been ignorant. What is his IQ? Why should we expect the same from him as we would expect from an adult or a person with an adult IQ?

Michael Vick seems to have low intelligence in general. If we find out he has high intelligence and just enjoys torturing animals then my opinion will change but as of right now he seems to be just playing football. Maybe he can use some money to save the lives of animals, donate to PETA, why kill him? He can be used as a tool for the protection of animals.

  • Anonymous

I don’t agree that he should have been executed, but I do think he should have been put into a room with some vicious dogs that could have put a hurt to him like he did to some of them.

And I certainly wouldn’t have let him back into football.

As I have said many times in my posts, Obama is an “ASSHOLE”, so his calling the club owners to say thanks for giving Vick another chance is something I would expect President ASSHOLE to do.

Because of that, I will now refer to him as President “FUCKING ASSHOLE”, and “CORPORATION COCKSUCKER”!

  • http://twitter.com/savagelight ThatBostonMan

I disagree. I think animal lovers should co-op Vick and make him a tool for the cause of animal rights and animal protection. Vick has talent, he has money, he’s a good athlete, he’s not a complete waste of life. He can be reformed.

Imagine how many animals Michael Vick can save and tell me we should execute him. We know Vick fought dogs but lets not pretend like dog fighting is suddenly the worst thing a person can do in the world.

If I had a dog I would not fight my dog, but lets not pretend like these people fighting dogs should know better. It’s not like there are classes teaching animal rights. It’s not like our society treats animals good, or humans good. So why would we expect them to treat dogs well without being taught?

Make an example out of Michael Vick and use Michael Vick to teach others that it’s wrong. It’s that simple. I understand why people fight animals, it’s a way to make money. It’s not right, but neither is our society which fights people for profits. It’s just how it is and to single Michael Vick out isn’t going to change that.

Michael Vick is just another dumb athlete. He is rich and I agree he should be glad he does not have to live in the ghetto anymore and shed his ghetto mentality, but lets not pretend that it’s going to happen overnight. It’s unrealistic. If Michael Vick wants to donate money to PETA and animal support groups they should leave him alone. It’s only fair.

  • http://twitter.com/savagelight ThatBostonMan

It’s not that he can do no wrong, it’s that when you have money and cultural influence it makes sense not to let it go to waste. If someone locks Vick up or kills him then he can’t be a good influence or good role model. If he is alive he can become a good role model, he can donate money, he can improve the lives of animals to make up for the lives of animals he has destroyed.

Michael Vick may be a sociopath or psychopath, but none of us are in a position to know. If he isn’t then he can change and learn he was wrong, feel remorse and make amends. If he is then he will have to be coerced into doing the right thing. The point is he can be made to do the right thing.

You are irrational. Your empathy for the dogs is preventing you from taking full advantage of the influence and power which you can have by using Michael Vick as a tool for animal rights.

It’s always better to give the ignorant thug the proposition to accept behavioral reform. Only when they cannot be reformed must you think about executing them.

    1. Is Michael Vick still torturing dogs?
    2. Is Michael Vick a sociopath?
    3. How much is Michael Vick worth to animal rights alive?

I think Michael Vick is worth more alive than dead. I think alive he can influence an entire culture which thinks dog fighting is acceptable, not because they are sociopaths or thugs but because there was nobody who told them it was wrong. Michael Vick is in a position where he can go to those communities and tell the people the behavior is wrong. He can use his athlete status and role model status to influence generations of children growing up in similar environments where maybe their parents are fighting dogs.

He can also donate money to animal shelters. If he is dead he can’t do anything to make up for the harm he has caused. He should not be killed. He should repay his debt to society by saving the lives of animals human and non human until it makes up for the animals he has tortured.

The nature of the act, and your empathy for the victims, should not determine what justice is. Justice is what produces the best results into the future, and which prevents these sorts of injustice from re occurring. If you kill Vick then you are promoting the very animal abuse that you claim you hate to the very children who you want to think this is wrong. Right or wrong Michael Vick is an animal too, a human animal, who has rights which must be defended whether he is a sociopath or not.

Most of these elite athletes like Michael Vick and Lebron James are like pets.
It’s not all that different when you consider how the elite think about them.

That being said, if Michael Vick is a sociopath then he must be forced to do right. He does not have the conscience to decide to do right after having it explained to him that its wrong, so he has to be forced.

Sounds like he’s encouraging domestic terrorism to me… Especially when he’s getting paid to say it. It’s the FOX News way of encouraging their audience of domestic loons to do the execution for them. The FBI and Homeland Security needs to investigate this arrangement they have with their followers.

The nature of the act does not determine the punishment.

A person could boil an animal alive, in fact many people do this before eating them. This does not change the fact that we have to consider how we can make use of Vick as a tool for the betterment of mandkind, not think “we should treat Vick like he treated his victims.”

I know it feels good to think like that and if he killed one of your pets you’d have every right to treat him like that, but he killed his own pets. We have to defend animals rights but also the human rights of ignorant thugs. Michael Vick can be a great tool if you use him properly.

I hope ALF and PETA are smart enough to know that Vick is more valuable alive.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t ask Vick for a donation, or pester Vick, or whatever. I’m saying that Vick is paying his retribution and thats what we want right?

    Hello, Everybody:

I want to be famous! I want everyone talking about me. I want to be courted, wined, dined, offered book deals and talk shows and movies. How do I achieve all this? Easy. I demand that Tucker Carlson be administered the ultimate penalty in consequence of his having committed the crime of arrant racism toward Michael Vick.

I suggest that Mr. Carlson be subject to the treatment set forth in Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery.”

Vengeance begets vengeance, as Aeschylus declared 2,500 years ago. But Carlson is a Christian. I’d be curious as to his defence, when Jesus, consigning him to hell, explains to Tucker that He died on the cross for Michael Vick; apparently NOT for Tucker Carlson, since Carlson chooses otherwise!

If Vick says Carlson should be executed, and someone does it, has he committed a crime? We all know what that standard is for Fox Noise personalities, as nothing has happened to Carlson for his exhortation. As the nation saw when Bill O’Reilly ranted against Kansas doctor Tiller, some Fox Noise viewers go out and kill people after watching Fox personalities rant against them.

If someone tries to harm Vick, Carlson will surely find some way to trivialize his words, and absolve himself of all blame. Of course, if Vick were to say the same against Carlson, and someone sympathetic to Vick actually undertook violent action against Carlson, Fox would be screaming in righteous outrage.

Too many of you are conflating different issues to obscure the main point here. I take as givens:

    1. Tucker Carlson is a tool.
    2. There are people guilty of far greater crimes than Michael Vick.
    3. There is lots of hypocrisy swirling around this issue.
    4. Vick has paid for his crimes per the law.

It still boils down to: Vick took pleasure from torturing helpless creatures. He’s a grown man, and therefore cannot use his age, immaturity, peer pressure, or any other justification for his actions … And yet he continues to refer to his “mistakes” … Well nope, sorry, they weren’t mistakes. They were deliberate repeated acts pointing to a serious deficiency of character. The man is probably sociopathic, and as such is not likely to be “rehabilitated”, even if he can smile for the cameras and keep his violent impulses in check (off the field). People giving him a second grab at fame and wealth are really just suckers and enablers, and I’m sorry to say that includes President Obama in this case.

Ease up shit head. Vick did wrong. If there will never be any rehabilitation, then you had better be prepared to increase the jails 300 fold. There will be NO ONE suitable to be in society ever again.

Putting dogs up against one another, or cocks, is cruel and viscous. Guess what. Worse happens in the wild when carnivores get their dinner. Sometimes they don’t wait for the prey to die. And yes, many hunters play with their prey. It’s mean and ugly, but it happens.

So suck it up asshole. That is natural, normal, and happens every day.If it still bothers you, find your own planet.

And I just finished a nice teriaki marianated steak with my own home grown squash and potatoes. I bought the meat at the supermarket.

Like fuck. An animal is NEVER worth more than a person. NO human life should just be “taken”, whatever the reason.

My wife is diabetic and requires regular insulin. Insulin comes from animals, usually cows and pigs. It was discovered using live animals to experiment on. Her Glucophage was perfected by experimentation on live animals. So have many many drugs been tested on animals. They have kept many of us alive.

Maybe you think we should just take two aspirin and call the doctor in the morning. Guess what !!! Even aspirin was tested on rats. After his stroke, the doctors put my father on low dose aspirin. The chemo my mother just underwent was tested on animals. She wouldn’t be here now other wise.

And Vick paid his “debt to society”.

I doubt that. Not all conservatives are racist bigots, though I think a lot of them slip in there like eels into a lubricated condom. I guess you could call it racism when blofarts like Carlson come around and make outlandish statements about a person, who is black, but, really, I don’t think you can jump to the conclusion that he was targeting Vick because of that, because, that is, Carlson may be racist.

Consider another scenario, that Carlson’s a suppository for sentimentality – he relates to his own dog like a brother he probably doesn’t have or fantasizes. You know, it’s back to the bow-tie, that “Mommy, Mommy, can I sleep with you again tonight?” kind of sentimentality that makes him completely dorky.

One of the founding principles of our country, the United States of America, is that those who break its laws are offered the chance to rehabilitate, to learn from their own actions, to pay for those crimes, and if possible, return to society as a productive member of this society.

Tucker Carlson’s rant promotes an idea that is directly contrary those principles. And I consider his blather to be un-American. That’s not as if it hasn’t happened before, mind you…

Oh great. I wasn’t even trying to troll and I got a bite. I would assume you have the same attitude about going after the sportsmen hunters. And also I hope you are a vegetarian. Or do you think some animals are OK to kill while killing others is the same as murdering a human and one should get one the death penalty for killing a dog?

And do you have any links, scientific or otherwise to evidence that killing an animal leads to killing children?

And even if you do have something to base your belief on, if a person kills a dog they should be convicted of killing some future child. So then we can say that all murders had a traffic violation at some time before they murdered someone, so anyone who gets a traffic ticket should be put away for the safety of society.

Thanks Tucker, you ass-hat. This is a serious situation. People are still riled up about it, including myself. As a pet owner, as a dog owner, a cat owner for my entire life (okay so my parents helped when I was young), I personally want to break Vick’s legs. Now the jerk-off Carlson has just made this a non-conversation w/ such an asinine comment.
Now such a serious crime will never be taken as seriously as it should, it has nothing to do with “race”, or he “deserved” a second chance, like it was owed to him. Whatever. Vick is a psychopath and wasn’t owed anything. The fact he got a job turns my stomach.

Carlson, you pastey white raciest! I am not saying he did right, but the culture he came from, dog fighting was and still is a part of life. Go to Mexico and watch the “Cock Fights”, or a bull fight. Come on Ass Hole tell me the difference. I’ll not at all be surprised to find thifes , murders, rapiest and slave owners, in your ancerestry. Your Daddy was probably at the Murder of Emitt Till, your family celebrated when the Reverned Dr. King was murdered, by more white trash just like you.

Dude, he wasn’t just dogfighting … Read the court documents, if you must. He executed dogs, tortured them, etc, in particularly cruel ways for ….what? Sadistic pleasure, apparently.

It’s not normal human-canine interaction, even if it “happens every day”, and it’s really not comparable to the natural predator-prey cycles of other animals. Frankly, the stuff Vick did ain’t even normal for most dogfighters! Guy is a sociopath, most likely.

So yeah, rehabilitation is great. I’m all for it. Let Vick get a job somewhere and work like the rest of us, instead of grandstanding for the cameras and spouting whatever insincere BS he believes will land him the fattest contract. Second chances don’t always mean you get fame and fortune and the renewed opportunity to act as a “role model” for kids. If he was a teacher or a cop he’d be forced to find another career path, for Chrissakes.

An aside: Notice how I replied to you without cursing or requesting that you (and your steak….who cares, seriously?) leave the planet. Just saying.

Because these barbaric rituals of animal sacrifice continue in our times does not make them moral. Argumentum ad hominem does not a logical argument make. In fact, as I see you use it, attacking people by calling them names is a form of violence. Pull up, chamanm!

  • Mr. Fusion

Your pets are a substitute for children. And there is nothing wrong about that.

But if it were ever a choice between a dog and a human life, there shouldn’t even be a discussion.

  • Mr. Fusion

I have a used pair of shorts if you’re hungry. If you’re not too hungry that’s OK, they’re briefs.

If it was wrong to torture dogs, then it is at least as evil and probably much more so, to torture a human being. THAT is not irrefutable. Phoro88 is calling for the torture and execution of a human being. The same as Carlson is. That is past sick.

Vick was wrong. He admitted it and has paid his price to society. Why don’t you accept that his sentence is over and it is time to move on?

  • Mr. Fusion

The Alaska wolves are shot because they compete with man for the moose and caribou. If they were a danger to people it is because the locals had wiped out their natural food supply. Which just happens to be the complaint about Palin shooting her caribou for sport.

The other danger is that humans tend to shoot the strongest animals, leaving the weaker animals to propagate. In nature, carnivores take the weakest as the way of keeping the herds strong.

  • Mr. Fusion

Bear has a nice, greasy though meaty taste to it. I wasn’t thrilled by the steak, it was tougher than I’m used to. Stewed with potatoes and carrots was really nice though, very hearty.

A sport means a challenge. Unless some of those deer shoot back, I wouldn’t consider it a challenge or a sport. Killing for food is called survival.

And yes, my car and a deer have tangled. As has about 1/3 the people here in Northern Indiana. Every year there is at least one person killed by a car/deer collision.

  • Mr. Fusion

Madame confuses killing with torture. She thinks it is fine to torture and kill people.

Sociopaths can often be identified by prior actions that usually include torturing animals as a child. While most children will pull the wings off of a fly out of curiosity, very few grow up to become mass murderers. But almost all mass murderers started out pulling the wings off of flies and graduated to higher orders of animals and more extreme forms of torture.

Dog and cock fighting does not meet the standards of sociopaths. They are more akin to the barbaric “sports” that include boxing and dueling.

  • Mr. Fusion

Pit bulls are NOT family pets. I believe almost every city wants to ban pit bulls and other viscous breeds.

Dog fighting is a criminal act. He was charged, sentenced, and served his sentence. He is allowed back into society. Demanding that ex-cons continue to be punished is cruel. Hey wait, isn’t being cruel what Vick was charged with?

Vick has a marketable skill. There is absolutely NO reason he should be denied the chance to sell that skill. To quote a famous philosopher, “Let he who has not sinned throw the first stone”.

What, you didn’t see it? It was Jon Stewart, who showed up on TC’s show “Crossfire”. He was, I’m sure, to be there for comic relief, to say nothing controversial, to have a fun, lighthearted show for the viewers. Jon came on and shot right across the bow from the first line. At one point Carlson asked him why he wasn’t just being funny, and Stewart said “I”m not your monkey”, and proceeded to tear into the show, saying that he on his FAKE news show hit the topics better than TC did, and how TC looked like a complete IDIOT in that stupid bow tie. He also said that Crossfire was one of the WORST things on television, that it did FAR more damage to the discourse than it was worth.

I don’t think that we’ve seen TC in that idiot bow tie since. Unfortunately, he didn’t take the real substance of Jon’s comments, which is that you can’t call yourself a journalist if you don’t DO news. TC doesn’t, and hasn’t so he is NOT a journalist. Too bad he didn’t learn from his serous humiliation.

It was one of the best shows on television, at least for that ONE episode. The rest of them sucked. BTW, it was very shortly after that when TC lost his show. You can’t have a “serious” discussion show if you’ve been humiliated by a guy who tells you his show is fake.

It was brilliant. I’m sure it’s on YouTube somewhere. You really should see it.

Why, because he disagrees with YOU? Hardly the mark of a mental disorder or delusional behavior. While those on the right can definitely be found wanting in BOTH areas.

I’m amazed that you care so much about dogs but don’t seem to give a flying rat’s ass about humans. There is apparently NO room for rehabilitation with you, so I guess we should just be executing everyone who commits ANY crime. That seems to be a real thing with you righties, you’re so into punishing everyone for everything, you have no room for anything but retribution. This event was over with YEARS ago, why is idiot boy bringing it up NOW? Because the president made a phone call. Not to tell anyone to give the guy a job at all, but to THANK someone for giving a man another chance after he has served his legal time as required by law. But that doesn’t seem to be good enough for you at all. Pretty sad excuse for a way to treat your fellow citizens.

Ever done anything that you got punished for? Did those who punished you eventually get over your “crime”? Maybe you should be treated with the same hatred and lack of compassion you afford to others. It would be a WONDERFUL country to live in if everyone had YOUR attitude. Everyone would be blind, toothless or dead. GREAT way to have a society.

If Fox News is so concerned about the humane treatment of dogs, then they should stop covering NFL broadcasts. Vick served his time in accordance with the law. It was the NFL, not the US gov’t that hired him back. I do not disagree with Obama, Vick is a public figure, and he might have actually learned from being put in jail. Recidivism is a far greater result of imprisonment as opposed to rehabilitation.

The criticism goes to the NFL. No other organization would hire a convicted animal torturer. Imagine a Dr, lawyer, co-worker, pretty much anybody in any walk of life would never get another job for what Vick did. In the NFL, he’s welcome. Taking down all of OJ’s old pictures in the hall of fame must have gone too far for the NFL (even though OJ, unlike Vick, was found not guilty).

Just more right-wing hypocrisy. As an ATL native, Vick’s lawbreaking resulted in Matt Ryan as QB. I’d rather have Ryan that 10 Michael Vicks.

Are you saying non-white people can’t love animals? Are you saying non-white people AGREE with Vick? I know that the law went after him like it never went after all the rape charges against (white male) athletes. Many people like me agree that Vick’s gratuitous cruelty to these animals is unacceptable. But if we start getting into mud-slinging wars about who is more righteous and who is less, we’re missing the whole point of this evil little man, Tucker Carlson, and his evil little masters: Tucker Carlson has just made it acceptable to talk about killing a man for killing a dog. We need to turn this around on him and ask him what we should do about the US military gratuitously killing dogs; gratuitously killing PEOPLE; and whether he thinks it is more justifiable for Vick to face the death penalty for cruelty to animals than it is for G.W. Bush and his administration to escape prosecution for war crimes. Nowhere in any country, in any law, does anyone recommend the death penalty for cruelty to animals. But war crimes are clearly defined by every country, and we gave the death penalty to many German and Japanese soldiers in 1945-1950. So, why does Tucker Carlson think Michael Vick should get the death penalty? Ask him to explain it.

But war crimes are clearly defined by every country, and we gave the death penalty to many German and Japanese soldiers in 1945-1950. So, why does Tucker Carlson think Michael Vick should get the death penalty? Ask him to explain it.
