Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer claimed Thursday that the network had made an “honest mistake” when they aired 2010 footage of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) being booed at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), as opposed to the 2011 footage where he was cheered.

Appearing on Fox News last Tuesday, host Bill Hemmer asked Paul why people had booed him when the 2011 results were announced, playing the wrong clip as a basis for his question.

Paul, the 76-year-old libertarian Republican, passed it off same as he did the year prior, when the hosts of Fox and Friends asked him virtually the same questions regarding the exact same footage.

“It was clearly a mistake: we used the wrong video tape,” Hemmer explained Thursday. “There are similarities between last year’s event and this year… Ron Paul won both years, however there are audible boos in 2010, while you heard a lot more cheering this year.”

“It’s an honest mistake,” he concluded. “We apologize for the error and we look forward to having Representative Paul back on our program very soon.”

In a similar “mistake” years back, where Fox News showed old video of a Sarah Palin rally that made a recent event seem much bigger than it truly was, management responded by threatening to terminate employees responsible for on-air mishaps.

“Effective immediately, there is zero tolerance for on-screen errors,” a Nov. 2009 Fox News memo warned the newsroom.

“Mistakes by any member of the show team that end up on air may result in immediate disciplinary action against those who played significant roles in the ‘mistake chain,’ and those who supervise them,” they wrote.

“That may include warning letters to personnel files, suspensions, and other possible actions up to and including termination, and this will all obviously play a role in performance reviews.”

The network did not specify what disciplinary actions were taken in the case of Ron Paul’s CPAC footage.

This video is from Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, broadcast Feb. 17, 2011.

    Uh huh… right.

Don’t watch any FOX programming because it all supports this crap from Murdoch.

  • RottenJohnny

Fox has never made an “honest” mistake in its history, so that point is moot.

  • Anonymous

Looks like Ron Paul (whom I think is nutty) should take legal action against FAUX.

  • Christopher Gadsden

Bill Hemmer is a lying propagandist. What does the bank robber say when he gets caught coming out of the vault? All mainstream media are propaganda arms of the government.

  • DesertSun59

Sharia Law is quite clear about this.

    Lying is punishable by stoning.

  • Anonymous

Bill Hemmer of Fox News used the word “honest”?

I thought there was a culture in Fox Fraud News planet where words like “honest” “truth” “objective” would cause all the Fox Fraud news employees to implode at least cause them to disintegrate if anything.

There are so many “honest mistakes”, I honestly believe that Fox is almost always severely mistaken.

  • Rabid_Liberal

Faux Snooze will continue with their deceiving propaganda indefinitely, or at least until the Fairness Doctrine is resurrected.

Damn Reagan and his sweeping deregulation of everything that was fair and honest to the US populace.

Fox dominates the ratings…too bad that everyone else is jealous.

  • Anonymous

Nobody’s jealous of Fox. Several million viewers of limited intelligence love it and the rest of us either ignore it or despise it.

  • Anonymous

Fox dominates inspite of their deceptive tactics for the simple reason that many Americans are so weak of character they will take self security in any form it is offered.

  • Anonymous

Honest mistake yeah right, they been constantly bashing Paul ever since he won CPAC and it even goes back to the last campaign. You know damn well if Romney won they would have already acted as if he was president.

FOX news is full of mistakes and shit.

  • Anonymous

This “retraction” gave them another chance to say “Ron Paul got audible boos” and, got them out of having to do a story about why “there was much more cheering this time” than last time. Check and mate.

  • Anonymous

This is so funny. I think maybe they have an unhappy employee who is getting even.

They have “fallen for” enough doctored videos that the retraction in this instance fall on somewhat deafened ears…

  • dolly lanna

    WHAT B..S…

  • dolly lanna

Embarassing to think that there are that many stupid, ignorant, head in the dirt, Americans listening and believing F News. They may be skewing the rating also. They are completely devious except for maybe Shepard.

  • dolly lanna

I tune into F News just to see what the creeps are saying. Maybe that is why their ratings are showing up high. We are all wanting at times to watch a train wreck over the top, unbelievable mess.

There are so many falsehoods, lies, mistakes, and propaganda on Fox News that they should run a banner on their channel 24/7 that reads, “We ARE UNFAIR, UNEDUCATED, AND WILL LIE TO YOU!”

numbers can be spun any way you want there, L-ster, got a percentile for non-watchers?

  • hourglass1

sheesh, not for lying. good heavens … no lawyers and bankers and politicians or celibate priests, but then again … no, stoning was/is reserved for activities the poor derive pleasure from and spend money on, mostly sex and gambling – instead of building crystal cathedrals, temples and mosques – also they want to keep a centralized, powerful clergy class in control by not allowing simple folks to worship images – worship of a big, bearded sky being one is free to imagine and tremble at but must never try to depict is OK … (why do you keep a photo of loved ones near you?)

sharia just mimics or follows hebrew tradition where stoning is concerned, since the qu’ran doesn’t mention it but memos of the prophet notes (but not condone or suggest) its usage. if humans were stoned for lying the planet wouldn’t be so overpopulated now or ruled by liars would it –

lying not covered, but you can get stoned to death for sleeping with that naughty stepmother or for placing flowers at pictorial representation of mother mary or laboring to create a statue of buddha – or even for inviting others to do so …

got to love them abrahamic authoritarians … they pretty much rule the world

Honestly… it was NOT a mistake.

Fox never makes an honest mistake. Fox makes pre-determined mistakes. It is very rare to see any of the other networks make this type of mistake, but with Fox it seems like you’re constantly seeing Congressman’s political party affiliation displayed wrong. Whenever a Republican gets in trouble you can count on the fact that undertaker going across the bottom Fox news will show him as a Democrat

notice how they are reading a teleprompter? If it was really an accidential video why are the talking heads reading the script off the teleprompter?

There had to be a lead-in written for the female host and the questions all seem to be scripted to trap Paul into saying something negatively about the crowd booing. Yet they quickly switched topics when he did not take the bait

The Nazi party was also real popular at one time.
Never underestimate the power of the stupid to allow themselves to be duped.

And btw professional wrestling and “Jersey Shore” ‘dominate’ all the cable news shows when it comes to ratings.
Only a relatively small percentage of the population watch any cable news programming.

All video footage should be clearly marked and dated. It is not possible to make a mistake other than deliberately!

Technically it was not an error, it can’t be an error when it is done on purpose. Fox are simply attacking Ron Paul because Huckabee is News Corporation pick for their next President of the US.

What is sad is Ron Paul is one of the few honest people left in the congress and I am a so called left wing liberal socialist more aligned with Bernie Sanders than Ron. However, eighty to ninety percent of what Ron Paul says I agree with. When all is said and done Ron is a proponent of the Austrian school of economics and I am, if you need a label, a Keynesian advocate.

These are two men and as far as I know honest. Ron Paul is portrayed as a libertarian nut case by Fox and Bernie Sanders as a Stalin loving communist. When you take away the each man’s economic philosophy’s they agree on many issues. Both believe our government is nothing but an ATM for big business. Both believe the current wars are nothing but business ventures and are not doing a damn thing for our security and only make it worse. Both believe NAFTA was con job. Both believe the American middle class (what is left of it) is getting screwed. Both worked on a bill to audit the Fed but to Bernie’s discredit he watered it down to get something passed in the Senate and to Ron’s credit he jumped his ass.

But my point is does anyone really believe that when and if either of this men run for president they have a snowball’s chance in hell of even wining the nomination of the Republican or Democratic parties. And as far as a third party run forget it. A third party, please, we do not even have two. Big business and big media are going to make sure this cannot happen and good old Fox news leading the way.

Bob, Bob, Bob. Come to Mississippi for longer than just a ‘pass through’ to have an informed opinion of our state. You will find the intelligence level to be extremely high. And if you think Mississippi has an overabundance of rednecks, one only has to look at AZ to Sheriff Arpaio or AK to Sarah Palin or WI to Scott Walker for just three examples.

I agree with your Fox comment. They have a very different interpretation of what is an ‘honest mistake’ from the rest of the country.

Sounds like Andy Bight-fart pulled this video for the segment.

    You have no clue.
It’s not “my” democrat media news”, as you put it.
The U.S. national media is almost exclusively owned by global mega corporations like G.E. Disney,Comcast, etc.
You’re still playing the old game of “us and them”, “my team, rah, rah rah”
Very 2004 of you. How old are you anyway?
    You sound like a dinosaur.
The modern world with it’s credit default swaps, currency manipulation and globalization is probably a little too complicated for you, so have fun with your ‘my team, your team’ meme while it still lasts.

Btw professional wrestling and Jersey Shore both get mush higher ratings than all the cable news shows, including Fox, but none of crap is really all that important to people’s daily lives.
    It’s all just teevee;
mindless entertainment for the mentally weak.

And I stand by what I said, until somebody gives me proof that the statement is wrong.
Fox Lies is a propaganda outlet for an megalomaniac Australian billionaire and his Saudi royal family partners used to deceive the American people……and slow witted dumbasses like yourself.
