The decentralized protest group “Anonymous” has a new target: no, it’s not a middle eastern dictator, a major bank or even a bit player in the military-industrial complex.

It’s none other than tea party financiers Charles and David Koch, who were being targeted, an open letter stated, for their attempts “to usurp American Democracy.”

“Koch Industries, and oligarchs like them, have most recently started to manipulate the political agenda in Wisconsin,” an announcement posted to anonnews.org declared.

“Governor Walker’s union-busting budget plan contains a clause that went nearly un-noticed. This clause would allow the sale of publicly owned utility plants in Wisconsin to private parties (specifically, Koch Industries) at any price, no matter how low, without a public bidding process,” they explained. “The Koch’s have helped to fuel the unrest in Wisconsin and the drive behind the bill to eliminate the collective bargaining power of unions in a bid to gain a monopoly over the state’s power supplies.

The group, which was responsible for taking MasterCard Worldwide offline for an entire day — along with numerous other organizations that plotted against secrets outlet WikiLeaks — said it would now be “actively seeking vulnerabilities” in Koch industries.

“In a world where corporate money has become the lifeblood of political influence, the labor unions are one of the few ways citizens have to fight against corporate greed,” the release added. “Anonymous cannot ignore the plight of the citizen-workers of Wisconsin, or the opportunity to fight for the people in America’s broken political system. For these reasons, we feel that the Koch brothers threaten the United States democratic system and, by extension, all freedom-loving individuals everywhere.”

They added that if one would like to withdraw their unknowing support for the brothers Koch, an array of products would need to be boycotted — and not just by Americans, but people world-wide.

“Anonymous hears the voice of the downtrodden American people, whose rights and liberties are being systematically removed one by one, even when their own government refuses to listen or worse – is complicit in these attacks,” they continued. “We are actively seeking vulnerabilities, but in the mean time we are calling for all supporters of true Democracy, and Freedom of The People, to boycott all Koch Industries’ paper products. We welcome unions across the globe to join us in this boycott to show that you will not allow big business to dictate your freedom.”

In the US, those products were listed as Vanity Fair, Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, Sparkle, Brawney, Mardi Gras and Dixie. For Europe, they were Demak’Up, Kitten Soft, Lotus / Lotus Soft, Tenderly, Nouvelle Soft, Okay Kitchen Towels, Colhogar, Delica, Inversoft and Tutto.

All were produced by the “Georgia-Pacific” company, and all bear the logo seen above.

The Koch’s, who’ve seen their libertarian cause raised to a full-blown rightwing boogyman status, were principle financiers of Wisconsin’s Republican Governor, Scott Walker.

Among his first items of business as the state’s governor was attempting to crush public worker unions by making it illegal for them to organize into a union. And while he’d been saying throughout the affair that this was not an attempt to bust unions, a front group for the Koch brothers had one of its spokesmen at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), who plainly stated that their goal was to take the unions out “at the knees.”

Walker was humiliated last week by a gonzo journalist with The Buffalo Beast, who managed to get him on the phone by pretending to be David Koch. During the conversation, the governor admitted to considering sending agent provocateurs into the throngs of protesters to try and stir up trouble. He also appeared to accept an offer for a flight to California, where he was to be shown “a good time” by the tea party financier.

“Anonymous” was calling their latest project “#OpWisconsin”. They asked that supporters begin boycotting the Koch paper products right away.

Will they take on O’Bumbler next? The Federal civil service has even less bargaining rights than Walker has put on the table.

Why is that greater injustice being ignored? I mean besides the fact that Carter and Democrats were the ones who put it in place.

I welcome Anonymous targeting the Obama admin. Bring it on.

And Carter created more private sector jobs in 4 years than Saint Ronnie the Traitor and the Borrower did in 8 years. Imagine how good the Carter Administration would have looked if they raided Social Security like that pile of human feces Mr. Liar Reagan.

Ronald Reagan was a stain on our nation that we are still suffering from. 30 years of stagnant wages while the top 2% now own an additional 20% of our nations assets, and other countries also own trillions of dollars worth of what used to be a strong nation.

Don’t forget that no single anon speaks for all anons.

This press release and those who created it speak for themselves and the anons that agreed with them at the time. It could be many, it could be a few, it could be the Koch Brothers themselves who posted it, it could be WBC attempting to divert attention away.

Some anons aren’t interested in the Koch brothers and have called those who wrote the press release “moralfags” and/or “politifags”.

Essentially, that press release is an idea, a possibility – and although some anons will do something, many others may choose not to. – It’s hard to say when the (non-)”heirarchy” is such a chaotic mess in an often self-conflicted collective conscience.

Only the responses and will of the people can turn a press release on anonnews into real action.

If the idea is popular enough, then some major shit could happen… if too many feel it’s pointless “faggotry”, maybe nothing will come of this.

Whether this actually leads to anything is entirely up to all the anons out there (or people who decide now is the time for them to be anons).

Nothing is for sure until the shit hits the fan.

Of course, I think the general consensus from those who are aware of the details surrounding the Koch Brothers, is that anon should probably take action.

  • Anonymous

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3QIJ4LGZX6PZOJSD57QIC3NRAA Straw

Imagine how good the Carter Administration would have looked if they raided Social Security like that pile of human feces Mr. Liar Reagan.

Well that rant went off the rails seeing as how Johnson raided Social Security long before Reagan showed up. Once again we see Progs for the hypocrites there are.

BTW, no response to the fact that Carter and the Democrats severely curtailed the Federal civil service’s collective bargaining rights means you didn’t address the point. So choke on your red herrings while you craft your next misleading missive.

I just visited Georgia Pacific’s web site, to advise them I’m off GP’s products for as long as the Koch Bros. are using its profits to impose an extreme right wing agenda on the US. See, http://www.gp.com/contactus/generalInfo

Kind of ironic how the Kochs have tried to be anonymous for years, now to be outed, and possibly targeted by Anonymous!

  • Dolmance

    Anonymous is beloved to me.

  • Anonymous

This is a very good start.

Also, note these brands may not always have the Georgia-Pacific logo on the packaging. So, look for the fine print that says: Georgia-Pacific

    Vanity Fair
    Quilted Northern
    Angel Soft
    Sparkle
    Brawny
    Mardi Gras
    Dixie

Plus, Georgia-Pacific makes other products like plywood, etc. Just keep that in mind when you’re at the home center.

While Anonymous is hacking Koch Industries, they shouldn’t give the PAC of the wife of Clarence Thomas a free pass.

Ginni Thomas is the head of a Tea Party group, and an anonymous donor handed over $500,000 to start her PAC. It is now well known that the Koch brothers funded and promoted Tea Party groups, but there is no way of knowing if the Kochs funded Thomas’s Tea Party PAC because they don’t have to reveal who made the donation, and it may be because of the Citizen’s United ruling.

    About the Koch Industries pollution.

the University of Massachusetts at Amherst’s Political Economy Research Institute named Koch Industries one of the United States’ top ten air polluters

But because they contribute to Republican causes, when fined for pollution violations they walk away with little more than a slap on the wrist.

Koch had contributed $800,000 to the Bush election campaign and other Republican candidates.

Wouldn’t it be something if the Koch brothers were hacked and documents surfaced that detailed their conspiracy against the “average American” to advance their corporate/Christian Fascist agenda? I believe that most of us know that if anyone can get in and dig deep enough, these two fascist bastards would likely face criminal charges on several different fronts. Everything that is happening is reminiscent of the Smedley Butler era.

The sad thing is that there is not another Smedley Butler anywhere within the ranks of the armed services – and just when we need another patriot, we are faced with scum like the Carpetbaggers of yesteryear. It’s amazing that a portion of our society feed and grow wealthy off the backs of those who are far less fortunate. I believe the proper descriptor would be PARASITES.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/3ETFGMQ3B7VD4AAMILBBEVMCWE JasonA

Why is anonymous against Wikileaks exposing secrets, god, they might have something related to the Koch’s. Whoever these guys are, they are curiously selective in the causes they choose. I almost got the sense that they will expose just enough to keep the status quo of the last thirty years but not enough to tear down the whole system which is what is needed.

This whole economic crisis could be turned around within a year or less , if people would realize, that they can run their own businesses and the rest can buy products from them. And the whole circle of business and employment is solved, because an American who has their business here in USA locally will not go overseas to China or India. That’s how USA used to run. No banks, no corporate dictators, no BS. Also, DO NOT seek employment at government and government connected employers. You will be dependent on them and they can cut you loose if you just disagree with the government, and that’s how they threaten, not to mention other people will hate your guts for serving and being actively involved in this corrupt system.
Start supporting your OWN community, it starts with buying your groceries from local small shops, and support your fellow Americans who is desperately seeking for your business and patronship! NOT Walmart, NOT giant chain stores, NOT giant Banks, say NO to Chinese made junks!!

I think you are wrong about no Smedley Butler types within the ranks of the armed forces. Thousands of people remember and respect their oath and, if asked to betray that oath, would gladly play along just to nail the bastards who are trying to destroy our democracy. That oath is to protect and defend the constitution of the United States.

  • John Barnett Brown

  • http://thepoliticalbandit.com/ William Cormier

John, good catch; perhaps I should have been more definitive with my remark.

I am sure that there are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of our troops that respect their oaths. It’s the command and control of the Armed Forces that I am speaking of – and no one so far has given me hope that ANY top level military official has the moral turpitude and raw guts to make a stand for what is right – not what the MIT requires to rape and plunder the American people.

Thank you Anonymous…Please Call Out — Expose those, e/g the Koch Bros…Fed. Reserve…Wall St. who viciously attempt to usurp American Democracy’s Soul for their private Power, Control and Greed!!!

  • John Barnett Brown

Smedley Butler was in the ranks of the retired military. Surely you do not think that all the retired command grades are craven.

    J. P. Morgen interests approached Butler in retirement to create an ‘army’ from the American Legion, among others, for the purpose of attacking Roosevelt and wresting control of the country into the hands of the banksters.
The absolute impossibility of such an action being successful impelled Butler to blow the whistle early rather than carry a distasteful charade beyond any usefulness. Even then, Congress booted it!
The reason we now see various governors attempting to overthrow the people’s polity with bad law is the impossibility of a coup ever succeeding, even in economic bad times and desperate personal circumstances.
And again, Congress has booted it over bankster fraud and illegalities. That is why I applaud Anonymous; at least they are trying to uncover and publish the truth.

This is a corporate attack upon the rights of individuals, let alone an attempt to acquire a monopoly of the power industry there – and in all actuality a terrorist attack upon the good people of Wisconsin. I would expect there to be blood, if not soon, then later – and justifiable perhaps, in it’s execution, an equal and opposite reaction to the kochs equally despicable actions. The kochs might very well be the ones that ultimately pay for their actions, in ways they may not expect – eye for an eye, sad really.

The evidence of Thomas’ violations of the rule of law is well documented. A number of groups are actively working to hold him accountable.

Evidence is mounting that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas violated federal law by failing to report his wife’s annual salary of more than $120,000 per year from conservative political organizations by checking “NONE” on the box for “Non-Investment Income” for his wife Virginia on judicial Financial Disclosure Reports for the last 20 years.

Good move Anonymous, The Koch Brothers is the reason Governor Walker will not back down. Scott Walker does not have permission from the Koch Brothers to give in to the state workers. Scott’s duplicity in stealing public assets for the Koch Brothers is revealed in the Bill he and his Republican colleagues are forcing through the Wisconsin legislature. I smell the stench of Koch Brother involvement when three Republican Governors turn down billions of dollars of federal money and thousands of potential jobs for their states because they say they do not want high speed rail. Their decisions was obvious placation to the fossil fuel prostitutes aka the Koch Brothers. This is an attack on “we the people”. The Koch Brothers are the greatest crime family in the history of this country and the hand behind the destruction of this nations formally great institutions. Over half the federal judges in this country are members of the Koch Brothers Federalist Society that includes members of the Supreme Court. The new tea-party members of congress is so deep in the Koch Brothers pockets they can smell their piss. The republicans will force a government shut down and trigger a walking talking nightmare for this country. There are probably a few Republicans in congress that have come to believe that a shut down is a bad idea, but like Governor Walker they do not have permission from the Koch Brothers to stop it.

Action needn’t be limited to the internet or boycotts.

    Go to Walmart.
    Buy Koch Industry product(s).
Damage said produce in a manner rendering unsuitable for resale (open packaging say).
    Return item(s) to Walmart.
    Repeat as needed.

Normally, Kock Industries would eat the loss. At worst Walmart (your source for cheap plastic crap, low wages everyday) will eat the loss.

    Anonymous is my hero!
Since the stock markets and greedy corporations, who have to take their greed to wild extremes to satisfy their shareholders with never-ending growth, are the root of most of the problems plaguing society; Anonymous needs to do something hard and hit the world’s stock markets and crash them at least once a month for a few years. Shut them down; take them offline if you can. It will scare investors/gamblers/speculators to death to invest in the markets. Then maybe the speculators might have to go out and get real jobs and actually work for a living like most people instead of fuck1ng up the world. The stock markets which force these corporations to become canabalistic $ociopaths are the root of the problem and have to go.

Hit the pig$ hard!!! Do something that will change the world for the better. GO ANONYMOUS!!!

  • CozmicSeer

That the Vatican would have a hand in this isn’t surprising. They have a pretty bloody history. Just look at what they did in the Spanish Inquisition, Crusades, etc. as well as the way they have continued to use the powers of kings, rulers and others with influence to force their so called ‘ideals’ on everyone or face their wrath. How many people were killed because they didn’t give in fully to the church one can only guess but they conveniently forgot the commandment that one should not kill. They claim they want these perfect character from their followers but instead they really want subservience and 10% of what you make.

They have played a behind the scenes control over many centuries and they are still at it today. The real Catholic church was lost once the politics of that power and wealth took over. This happened early in the Church’s history. Now, they have evolved into just another government that wants total control. And it seems that they are hell bent on a confrontation with the Islam world through the powers that be. Remember when Bush said “This crusade, this war on terrorism, is going to take a while.” It seems like this pretext was used to backup the church’s goals while at the same time transferring a lot of America’s wealth to the elites and people like the Kochs. This was just another step that started with Reagan although it was in the planning stages long before.

I was raised a Catholic but when I learned of the real acts of this church, I left them in my dust. Once you peel away the facade, you can see the real structure of this conspiracy against this country. Yet, many people aren’t aware of any of it. They have accomplished their goals because of the lack of knowledge.

My partner and I use none of these paper products. I will make sure that we also avoid all Georgia Pacific as well. BTW…instead of paper towel, go to Sams or Costco and get a pack of sixty white cotton rags for about ten bucks. These work better, do not send paper to a landfill, and the energy cost of washing in hot water…with a front loader…is much less than papermaking. Once they wear out or get too stained, you can use them in the garage for cleaning the car, etc. And when they are really worn, take them to a local art school where they can grind them into pulp for paper making…they will love you. We take half the worn out ones to a local school…they are awesome for deep cleaning white boards. I know this sounds nutty but paper towel is lousy…expensive, eco unfriendly, and apparently Koch is making billions to control government.

It depends on what kind of vulnerabilities they can find. In the recent hack of HB Gary, anonymous deleted a whole bunch of data archives, wiped the CEO’s iPhone, and so comprehensively exposed incompetence in basic computer security that this firm’s chances of continuing to sell itself as having expertise in computer security are just about nil. Anonymous also published thousands of emails (Last time I checked they have thousands more they have not released) which led to the exposure of the persona management software used by the pentagon, and illegal activity apparently condoned by a major Washington law firm, Bank of America and the Chamber of Commerce.

Right now the unions in Madison are fighting for their jobs, which is exactly what Republican politicians want them to be doing. All while the real problem that created the budget crisis is not being discussed, and they are laughing all the way to the bank.

We have a number of issues that are both short term and long term. Indeed we must revamp the Constitution and overrule Citizens United … money is not equal to speech and corporations are not equal to people. But this battle is going to take 5 years at a minimum and perhaps even 10 years.

Short term we must fight to get public funding of campaigns that has caused the budget crisis that Walker wants to use to kill unions. Without a budget crisis he would not have had the ammo, so he started off his term with a $137 million tax break (which I supported, but not knowing its true purpose).

I believe the Dems and unions must redirect their ire if they are going to win long term. We must get all organizations thinking cash bribes, or this is just one of many small fires.

I´ll tell you where they are, the are very few and very far between, have given into the profit at all cost system that is america today. If one has the courage to comes out attesting the elite by showing constitutional concerns for the republic instead of support to the plutocratic alliance of profiteers agenda, then this person who dared, will be targeted for character assassination of the extreme prejudice type.

Some retired generals seem to just get on the band wagon of the times and act as though the subtle take-over of freedoms and government shouldn´t be a thing for major concern, it´s the natural thing on the road to good governance.

Laws are not written for the rich – period. The only time laws are enforced against the wealthy are when the cases are high profile, and the testimony/conviction won’t lead uphill. See boesky, madoff, a handful of minor enron convictions, etc. The ownership class is held to account only as often as is necessary to maintain the illusion of the end to the feudal system.

Jimmy Carter and his wife are stellar human beings and wonderful representatives of the human race, period….. To be compared with either of them, would be an honor..!

  • PissedSissy

Um, would it not be smarter to NOT tell powerful people like the Koch brothers that you’re going to spy on them? I think it would be wise to NOT broadcast your targets.

With that said, I would like to suggest that Anonymous go after the hidden menace in this country – the PR firms. They do the dirty work of fear and smear to keep the politicians’ hands clean. Mine their data, and you will have the evidence to bring down the plutocracy.

    And I applaud you…

    Wonderful…….. An honorable man.

I agree that its not a great idea to tell these corporations and CEO’s what our intentions are.
But also applaud identifying those responsible for the take-over of our country to boycott their
products. This kind of action needs to be done on a much broader scale across the country. The banks, Wall Street and the mortgage industry could also targeted and picketed, as is being done now to the Bank of America.

The bastards tried to STAY anonymous but I think that people are good and disgusted with paying the bills for these wealthy freeloaders…! People are sick and tired of seeing everything they’ve worked and believed in, being taken advantage of by greedy nincompoops.!

I support investigating Thomas and his crazy wife….!

Sure -and the more you figure out about it, the more manipulated you’ll feel, and the more you’ll be involuntarily reminded of the basic story line of The Matrix.

Some of these computer geniuses need to create a computer ap where you can use your cell phone to swipe a bar code and the ap tells you which politicians are supported by the manufacturer.

I believe that every politician aspiring to hold public office from the local level on up to the federal level should be subjected to psychological profile testing, and submit to a lie detector test. That way we could ensure that crazy people such as Scott Walker,John Kasich,or Mitch Daniels would not assume office

By the looks of it the only way we are ever going to live under a democratic form of government is to circulate petitions to have a real democracy, such as Canada annex the northern tier of states.

I agree in part, but we need to make more stuff for this to work. I am all for making and buying American.

All officers of all uniformed services take the following oath:

“I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Unfortunately, enlisted personnel must swear a different oath:

“I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

Officers get to exercise judgment as to what constitutes support of the constitution, enlisted ranks do not, according to the above oath. Except that the Nuremberg judgments say otherwise; they must discern truth and make a judgment to follow orders, or not, as the first part of the oath directs.

I wonder how long it’s going to be before the Baggers realize they have a “Koch” problem. Will it be before they lose their jobs and pensions or after they lose their homes?

They made a lot under Bush, but they’re doing better even now, now that they’re have two on the Supreme Court that they’re able to easily bribe.

Yeah, already have felt it… many years ago. And Matrix and Vendetta did also open some doors of thought. Although, I hadn’t felt it as starkly as I had after watching Scorcese’s “Boardwalk Empire” last year.

Everyday, we ALL move closer and closer to complete awareness and the blatant greed and dysfunction going on at the upper echelons of power becomes boringly obvious.

My point wasn’t that the Guy Fawkes was the main theme in V for Vendetta. However in the movie he was glorified and portrayed as a tragic Hero. In R for Revenge if one of the 9/11 Hijackers is shown in a sympathetic light I’d be just as annoyed by it. There are religious themes in V for Vendetta one of the main targets for V was the head of the Anglican church.

Watch the first few minutes of the movie and tell me you don’t get the idea that Guy Fawkes wasn’t really that bad of a guy. When in fact in another era he would have been driving a car packed with explosives or hijacking planes. Taking the likeness of a Religious terrorist as a symbol is just stupid. Even if it’s just something from a movie you enjoyed because it’s about Anarchy and Rebellion. It also strikes me as an attempt to rebel against conventional norms while forming their own conventional norms for their own group. Which is pathetic.

Might as well have Vamp kids and Goths argue about Hot Topics or something.

Koch are next. I’ll enjoy watching these selfish frauds exposed. Hopefully this libertarian la la land these bozos want to trick the US into buying into will finally get some exposure as being a greedy lie that would destroy society as we know it.

Probably for that same reason they intend to kill or destroy Assange too.

A few days ago I thought something else about this article, but now that I’ve given more thought, it feels a little like what the CIA pulled off in the 50′s, a very secret program called “Long leash”. It’s an interesting story that got some attention in the past few years, even a documentary about it. People should check it out.

Soros v. Koch, MoveOn v. CoC, Unlimited Corporate Donations v. Union donations … I don’t know how you people live with yourselves.

One is not the same as the other. Democrats are mostly funded by people but for insignificant bundles that the corporations throw one way or another in order to appeal impartial until they know which way the wind is blowing, but conservative causes, a hundred percent of the time, have a massive, corporate donating structure. Also, since Reagan assimilated the Religious Right, you’ve also given a bunch of nice, frightened old ladies somewhere else to throw their Social Security checks while getting them to bray about how they want the government to keep its claws off their medicare.

With all due respect, Mr. Smith, you are full of shit.
