Daylight Savings begins tonight

2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning marks the end of Standard time and the beginning of Daylight Savings Time. Fifty-nine minutes will disappear as most United States residents set their clocks ahead one hour.

Many national agencies recommend checking all household smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on this day. The Centers for Disease Control estimate that approximately two-thirds of fire deaths occur in homes without smoke detectors or where the smoke detector is not functioning.

States and territories that do not observe Daylight Savings time include Hawaii, some parts of Arizona, Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, the Northern Marianas, American Samoa, and Guam.
