WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The winning lottery ticket for an estimated $312 million jackpot was purchased in New York state, lottery operator Mega Millions said in a statement.
Local media reported that the ticket was sold at Coulson’s News Center, a convenience store in Albany, the state capital. The store is located near the Capitol building and caters to the city’s business district.
A winner has not yet been identified. The winning numbers were 22-24-31-52-54 and the Mega ball was 4.
The largest jackpot in the history of the multi-state Mega Millions lottery was in March 2007 for $390 million, which was shared by two players in New Jerseyand Georgia.
Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday nights. Five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 to 56; one ball is drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 to 46.
