Government shutdown could leave 800,000 workers idle

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Around 800,000 workers could be idled and activities ranging from processing of tax filings and Small Business Administration loans could be suspended if the U.S. government is forced to shut down in a budget deadlock, a senior U.S. official said on Wednesday.
