Presidential wildcard Donald Trump continued to emphatically defend his “birther” conspiracy theories over the weekend, taking on the House GOP majority leader for dismissing his seriousness.

“I think it’s a very bad thing for Cantor to have done,” Trump told TPM’s Evan McMorris-Santoro in Palm Beach County before speaking at a Tax Day Tea Party. “Because I’ll tell you, people love this issue, especially in the Republican Party. And there’s something to what we’re saying.”

Trump pushed back against those who describe the conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States as a “conspiracy theory.”
