Obama ‘increasing skeptical’ about releasing photos of Osama bin Laden’s corpse

Jake Tapper of ABC News reports that President Obama is “increasingly skeptical” that there is any value to releasing the photographs that confirm the death of Osama bin Laden, which are “gruesome.” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and current Secretary of Defense Robert Gates reportedly believe that the photographs could spark a backlash in the Muslim world where none current exists. However, CIA Director Leon Panetta — recently nominated to succeed Gates at the Defense Department — and House Homeland Security Committee Chair Peter King (R-NY) both want the photograph released to tamp down conspiracy theoriests.
