Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and Atlanta radio talk show host and syndicated columnist, officially announced his candidacy for the presidency Saturday.

At Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park Saturday, Reuters reported he told supporters, “We are gonna take our country back.”

The businessman has held executive positions at Coca Cola and Pillsbury, and served as the chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, but has never been elected to public office. He ran for Georgia’s open Senate seat in 2004, but lost in the primary.

Cain’s current campaign slogan, according to his website, is “Let’s get REAL.”

A recent Gallup poll showed that Cain has only 29 percent name recognition among Republicans, but those who know him see him in a positive light: Cain enjoyed a positive intensity score of 24, higher than any of the other Republican candidates included in the poll, including Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich, among others.

Cain posted an extended video announcing his candidacy on his official YouTube account. Watch it embedded below via YouTube.
