Man in custody over suspicious car near Pentagon

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Authorities closed several major highways around the Pentagon and took a man into custody on Friday after discovering a suspicious package inside a car, police said.

Officials could not confirm local media reports that the package inside the vehicle resembled a bomb.

Reports said a police bomb squad was preparing to detonate the package while authorities searched for as many as three other people who were said to have fled the car on foot.
