In the wake of Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-NY) resignation brought on by an online sexting scandal, Bill O’Reilly said that Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) — who years ago confessed to hiring prostitutes — should leave Congress.

“I don’t think Vitter should be there,” the Fox anchor told Alan Colmes. “Absolutely not.”

Critics such as MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow have argued that Weiner case highlights a double-standard in which Democrats are forced to resign for sexual misconduct but Republicans are allowed to stay.

Vitter refused to resign after his scandal went public and was comfortably re-elected last November.
