A campaign advertisement for a Republican congressional candidate from Nevada that depicts the Chinese army marching on the U.S. Capitol has upset an Asian-American group.

In the ad, a fake Chinese news anchor explains that the Chinese empire was able to rise again thanks to President Barack Obama raising the federal debt limit.

The ad is for Mark Amodei, a Republican candidate for the upcoming special election in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District. At the end of the ad, he says that it is not too late to stop “this nightmare.”

The Asian American Action Fund strongly condemned Amodei’s “offensive, fear-mongering campaign ad,” which the group described as xenophobic. The AAA-Fund called on Amodei to immediately remove his ad and apologize to every resident of Nevada.

Amodei’s ad resembles a similar one produced by the conservative group Citizens Against Government Waste, where a Chinese professor in the year 2030 explains that Americans now “works for us” because of government stimulus programs.
