Colbert Super PAC releases first ad: Vote ‘Rick Parry’ at Ames

Stephen Colbert’s FEC-approved political action committee, Colbert Super PAC, released its first ad on Tuesday, telling Iowans to write-in “Rick Parry” at the Ames Straw Poll conducted Saturday.

Although Iowa Republican leaders left Texas Gov. Rick Perry off the Ames Straw Poll ballot, groups like Americans for Rick Perry and GrowPAC have urged people to write-in his name.

“We want you to vote for Rick Parry too, but not their Rick Perry, our Rick Parry,” Colbert says in the ad.

“On August 13, write-in Rick Parry. That’s Parry, with an ‘A’ — for America.”

The beginning of the ad also mocks the National Organization for Marriage’s “Gathering Storm” ad.
