A large gathering of protesters outside the White House cheered on Wednesday after learning that the execution of death row inmate Troy Davis had been temporarily postponed. There was no stay of execution at that point, but the execution had been delayed by the Supreme Court to allow time for deliberations.

The Associated Press reported that at least a dozen at the rally in Washington, D.C. were arrested.
