A widely publicized incident where Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin discovered two ancient Greek jug fragments during a dive in the Kerch Strait was staged, according to his spokesman.

The discovery was reported extensively by the media, both in Russia and elsewhere.

Putin has said he plans to run for president again. He previously served as president from 2000 to 2008.
