Tom Morello, best known as the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine, appeared at the “Occupy Los Angeles” on Friday to show his support for the movement. At the demonstration, he performed “World Wide Rebel Song” from his 2011 solo album for an enthusiastic audience.

The politically-conscience guitarist has previously performed acoustic songs and gave speeches at pro-union demonstrations in Madison.

Los Angeles city officials have shown support for the demonstration. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa visited the protest to distributed 100 rain ponchos, and seven of the 15 councilmembers have voted to support “peaceful and vibrant exercise in First Amendment Rights carried out by ‘Occupy Los Angeles.’”

The “occupation” began on October 1, when more than 750 people marched from Pershing Square to City Hall, chanting slogans such as, “Hey hey, ho ho! Wall Street greed has got to go” and “The people united will never be defeated.”
