Hip-hop pioneer Russell Simmons said Monday night on Countdown with Keith Olbermann that despite frequent criticism that the “Occupy Wall Street” movement had no specific purpose or grievances, the goal of the demonstration was quite simple.

“They’re at Wall Street because Wall Street runs our government and they’d like to,” Simmons, who has an estimated net-worth of $340 million, explained.

“Simple idea, power to the people. It’s not a difficult idea, that we get the special interests and the money out of Washington.”
