In a rousing performance for “Occupy Wall Street” activists yesterday, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello played Woodie Guthrie’s classic folk song “This Land is Your Land,” cheering the protesters on as the faced a possible eviction from Zuccotti Park on Friday morning.

Thankfully for demonstrators, that eviction did not happen, after it was announced late last night that the property owners had withdrawn their request for police help in clearing protesters ahead of a planned cleaning.

Morello, well known not just for his guitar skills, but also his activism, also played for protesters at “Occupy Los Angeles” last week. Both events in New York and Los Angeles were live-streamed on the Internet, in footage provided by the protesters.

The video below is from YouTube, published Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011.
