At a campaign event in Waverly, Tennessee Friday Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain rewarded members of the tea party with “something special” by singing gospel music.

“I’ve got to get back on that bus because we’ve got to go to another event,” Cain told a crowd of about 1,500 supporters. “What I’m going to do instead of a signature or photograph, I’m going to leave y’all something special that I haven’t done all day.”

With that, he belted out a rendition of John Starnes’ “He Looked Beyond My Faults.”

“Amazing Grace Will Always Be My Song Of Praise / For It Was Grace That Bought My Liberty.”

Cain recently re-released his 1996 13-song gospel album titled “Sunday Morning.”

But Cain hasn’t always used his voice to praise God. At the Omaha Press Club in 1991, the then-Godfather’s Pizza CEO sang a parody of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

“Imagine there’s no pizza / I couldn’t if I tried / Eating only tacos / Or Kentucky Fried.”
