Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney seems to be confused about how birth control works. So on Thursday, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow invited him to a place where he might be more open to learning: the man cave.

A woman at a town hall event in Iowa Thursday told Romney that his support for a life-begins-at-conception amendment would mean outlawing many forms of birth control.

“Life begins at conception; birth control prevents conception,” Romney replied.

“I don’t know if you want to have some staff look into this, but hormonal forms of birth control work a little differently,” the woman pointed out. “They actually prevent implantation, not conception. So, it would ban hormonal forms of birth control which is what most women use.”

The candidate still didn’t appear to grasp what the woman was saying so Maddow offered a little sex education later that night.

“Mitt Romney apparently does not understand that this is what he says he supports ‘absolutely,’ a birth control ban,” Maddow explained. “That is what these personhood amendments are designed to do. There’s one on the ballot in Mississippi. That’s what it’s designed to do.”

“The woman trying to explain to Mitt Romney that his position does mean that birth control could be outlawed, seeing that happen today in Iowa and seeing Mitt Romney just move on and not address what she just said about birth control is one of those moments. I watched this thing three or four times today and I just kept — you know what it is getting after me? This is one of those moments in American politics when you look around and you realize, ‘You know what? Politics is mostly guys. And the media is really mostly guys. And the way we talk about politics is really mostly guys. And sometimes guys in politics, nevertheless, talk about uteruses and sometimes I’m not sure they really get it.’”

So to try to rectify that, the MSNBC host went into the virtual man cave so that Romney might feel more at home while she explained “The Man Cave’s Not-Too-Upsetting Guide to Down-There Parts.”
