Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank (D) said that Democrats in Congess had stolen inertia from Republicans thanks to the failure of the deficit “super committee.”

The 12-member committee failed to reach an agreement on how to reduce the deficit, triggering automatic cuts to defense spending and other programs.

“For those of us trying to get the government to play an active role in staving off a recession and helping improve the quality of life, this is good news,” Frank said on Countdown with Keith Olbermann. “Inertia has been our problem.”
